Republicans celebrate April Fools by praising Obama

Republicans are praising President Obama on April Fools Day.

Republicans are praising President Obama on April Fools Day.

(CNN) - National Republicans praised President Obama Thursday and declared that he has "kept all his promises" and is "truly the greatest president ever."

No, this is not an episode of “The Twilight Zone.” It's an April Fools Day joke from the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

In a new Web video, the GOP organization tasked with regaining control of the Senate this November, cheers Obama for solving global warming "by replacing cars with low-emission unicorns” and achieving an unemployment rate of "negative 39 percent," among other “accomplishments.”

If it wasn’t already clear, the committee quickly said it's only joking:

"Get real,” an announcer abruptly said. “ObamaCare is just the latest in a long list of broken promises by the liberals in Washington. No transparency. A government takeover of health care. And even more jobs threatened by billions in mandatory new health care costs. Promise after promise…broken. Don't be fooled by Obama and the Democrats in Congress."

The Repubs deserve a good laugh today on April Fools day, cause I think they are in for a very unplesant surprise come November. The joke's going to be on them on election day. I am sure though that they will definitely get the majority vote of the tea baggers and most likely the 23% of the Repubs but not the votes of the silent majority who voted the dems into office in 08.

You'd have to be a fool for the other 364 days of the year, too, to think that the Obamessiah was anything but a huckster.

    LIE, BABY, LIE!!

Wow, the Gop has sunken really low now, they just cant stand that another party is in control and has the presidency. It is funny to think that these are the same people who said to bash the president is unpatriotic, but here they are doing to Obama. So in the end they are all just hypocrites and need to shut up. Once they try to help fix this country and not try to cause caos, then they just need to shut their rich, racist mouths. Obama tried to ask them to work with him but they did not accept it and decided to just try to put him down even more. So in the end who is the bigger party!

Republicans really need to grow the hell up. They really don't get that they are the joke and that President Obama is laughing all the way to victory everytime on their behalf.

I changed my mind. Republicans, please keep up the good work.

This idiot president probably hasn't spent a penny on gasoline in the recent past. Why? because "we the people" are paying for has trips around the country with our tax dollars. Trips he takes to sell his presidency and programs as if still on the campaign trail. Yesterday, I paid $3.03 per gallon for gas. His offshore drilling program in the Atlantic may or may not be a good idea, but even if it is, we'll not see any significant change in the price of a gallon of gas for years, and by the time we do begin to see a drop, the price may be upwards of $4.00 a gallon! Well he can keep his ideas in the bottom drawer because they're not helping us out of the problems with energy NOW! Frankly, I think he's making these long-term projections because he'll be out of the WH by that time and can blame the new president like he's still blaming President Bush for todays economic conditions.

It's almost funny. Then again, the GOP could better use its time to actually come up with ideas and solutions instead of putting out lame videos. Then again, you people seem to get dumber by the minute, so this is really no surprise.

Cute, another bit of Refublican political theater I will be avoiding. I am glad that their sophomoric sense of humor is intact, because they will need it when they loose even more seats in 2010 for being partisan hacks. Too bad they have no actual plans to stop goofing around and start cleaning up the mess they created. The Republican recovery plan is to fiddle while Rome burns.

Yes folks this is the republican party. The party of real "juvenile" thinkers. I just heard that the republican party was given it's own beautiful country where everyone was christian, white, had free guns, free bibles, and could hate anyone freely who didn't think like them to the point of torturing and killing them. Why does this not sound like an April fools day joke?

The Republican party is a joke and soon to be a part of history in this country.

We finally have a president who leads this country.

A classic example of how the National Republicans are in a world of their own! There's nothing humorous or funny about this! It's a sad commentary of just how far the Republican Party has morphed into a mean spirited, obstructionist, monority organization who's only interest & concern is regaining & keeping power. They've turned their back on solving or helping to solve any of the many problems plaguing the American people. Ronald Reagan, Barry Goldwater & all the other many famous Republicans of the past would be both ashamed & alarmed to see what their beloved party has turned into!

Hah! Republicans fail at even trying to be funny. No wonder there's never been a conservative comedian, except for their politicians, who are a complete joke.

That RNC – such jokesters – as in 8 entire years of Bush/Cheney – no one will ever be able to top that act.

And, as using grass-roots campaign donations for bills at Beverly Hills strip clubs, the Four Seasons, the Ritz, etc.

The RNC has raised $115M for November elections and they've already spent $107M of it. But hey, that leaves at least $8M more for the Ritz and Four Seasons, where I am sure the Tea Party members all also dine every night.

The RNC – the ULTIMATE April Fools perpetual joke on the people of America.
