It clearly was a mistake, but it couldn't come at a worse time for the RNC, which has faced a barrage of criticism from social conservatives for the nightclub expense.
“We love nasty talk as much as you do," a woman is heard on the other end of the sex hotline. The woman, whose voice is on a recorded message, also welcomes callers as “sexy guy” and says this is an opportunity for them to talk to "students, housewives and working girls from all over the country."
A Minnesota resident received the mailer that asked recipients a series of questions and urged them to donate a minimum of $25 to help Republicans return to power in Washington. The resident gave it to his congressman, who in turn delivered to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The DCCC, the campaign arm for House Democrats, provided a copy of the fundraising letter and a recording of the telephone message to CNN. CNN called the number and it is still active.
RNC spokesman Doug Heye acknowledged that this fundraising letter did go out, but said it was a mistake.
"The number in question was a typographical error by a vendor used on this particular mailer – using 1-800 instead of 202," he said. "As you can see from the attachments, this is an isolated incident and will not be repeated in the future."

Any fool who donates to the Republican Party needs to know that most of their contribution will be used for hookers and male prostitutes.
What do you expect from a polictical party that has never respected women in the first place. Any woman who calls themselves a Republican, you are not placing your best interests first, you are putting a man's opinon over your own life.
Michael Steele is the best thing to happen to the Democrats since FDR. Here's hoping he has a long and fruitful reign and continues to screw up everything he touches.
This is getting too weird even for the repugs. Is somebody trying to sabotage everything they do?
Look for 'em "teabbagers" to be behind some of this.
AH – once again, this is the party that claims a christian base and tries to paint itself as the party of good morals. I'd like to remind you this is also the party of Foley and all those other morally corrupt politicians from the past.
What next? "Wide stanced" toe tapping by a Conservative Republican in a public men's room? Oh wait......never mind.
Just priceless. Guess its time to hire a new PR firm!
if you would like your Republican representative to listen to your concerns, it costs a lot more than $4.99 per minute.
Apparently, the "Stars" are not aligned in favor for the GOP?
Maybe it's the Media?
Or, like a fellow from the church suggested some times it's the devil that makes them do it.
Stupid is stupid does.
Oh this just keeps getting better and better!
“We love nasty talk as much as you do," a woman is heard on the other end of the sex hotline.
Aides to Sarah Palin have asked the Republican National Committee to remove her name from an invitation that suggests she might attend a series of committee fundraising events, she just doesn't have enough time for both.
The Republican "Party" is heating up. What's next? VIP room for donors?
Didn't something like this happen during McCain's 2008 run? Poor Michael Steel, can a brother catch a break? I must say I find all this sex talk during holy week unseemly.
It appears that the GOP may have to begin their own Sex Addiction classes. My goodness, can you imagine the large numbers in attendance? Celebrities, politicians, -- seems to be a worsening problem. Along with the lies and deception, one can only imagine the dialogue during those sessions. Why do I think that the word "misconstrued" would be used over and over?
this gets better every day!! No to the party of No!
LOL this just gets better by the day!
Wow. It's like some judgment upon the party from On High, or something, like Karma or Divine Retribution. I wonder what Pat Robertson thinks about that?
When my mom wants to keep her money safe, she tucks it into her bra too... I don't see what the big deal is???
Ooohh... Someone elses bra??? oh. I see how that can be a problem.
Oh come on now, Michael Steele was just trying to compensate the lost donations from conservatives. Pretty smart!!! LOL!!!! But actually from all the scandals, it doesn't seem that far fetched!!! LOL!!!
“We love nasty talk as much as you do,"

LOL! God said when you try to hide your dirt it will come to the light. the Republicans pretend to be so holy, but they are no better than anybody else.
