RNC is tripped up by sex hotline

The Republican National Committee is now facing questions as to why a number on a fundraising mail piece led people to a telephone sex hotline.

The Republican National Committee is now facing questions as to why a number on a fundraising mail piece led people to a telephone sex hotline.

Atlanta (CNN) - Already under fire for picking up the tab at a Los Angeles nightclub where topless dancers mimic sex acts, the Republican National Committee is now facing questions as to why a number on a fundraising mail piece led people to a telephone sex hotline.

It clearly was a mistake, but it couldn't come at a worse time for the RNC, which has faced a barrage of criticism from social conservatives for the nightclub expense.

“We love nasty talk as much as you do," a woman is heard on the other end of the sex hotline. The woman, whose voice is on a recorded message, also welcomes callers as “sexy guy” and says this is an opportunity for them to talk to "students, housewives and working girls from all over the country."

A Minnesota resident received the mailer that asked recipients a series of questions and urged them to donate a minimum of $25 to help Republicans return to power in Washington. The resident gave it to his congressman, who in turn delivered to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The DCCC, the campaign arm for House Democrats, provided a copy of the fundraising letter and a recording of the telephone message to CNN. CNN called the number and it is still active.

RNC spokesman Doug Heye acknowledged that this fundraising letter did go out, but said it was a mistake.

"The number in question was a typographical error by a vendor used on this particular mailer – using 1-800 instead of 202," he said. "As you can see from the attachments, this is an isolated incident and will not be repeated in the future."

Ah, darn, and here I'd thought that the Republicans were finally telling the truth for once and admitting how interested they are in screwing the American people.

Just another symbol of Republican incompetence. When they manage to do something right, THAT will be news!

Doesn't anybody proof read text before it goes to the printer? Even for my college newspaper we had three sets of eyes check everything before we sent it to print. I find it funny that these same people are trying to convince voters they would do a better job now of running the country than they did previously.

I bet those RNC Voyeurs sure love them some nasty talk! LOL. Just ask Vitter, Ensign, and the rest of the "family values" hypocrites.

Unbelievable. The Republican drama just gets more absurd every day.

While I think Conservatism is the most evil force on the planet, this is clearly a dumb mistake. A typo. Let us dismiss this as a waste of time.

If the line was truly attributed to the RNC, it would be the only thing interesting I've heard from Republicans in ages.

I love it. You couldn't make this stuff up. It's so appropriate, too, for the party of family values. Emphasis on the "party," I guess.

They need to be voted out of Office. All of the Party on NO that took lots of money for their vote on Health Care Reform and Oil Companies who paid people like Mike Pence, Indiana to deny CLIMATE CHANGE.
That is where the deniel stems from, PAYMENT TO POLITICIANS TO LIE TO THE PEOPLE.

Whoever took money from Big Corporations must be named and must go. Why do they need their jobs, they get , and have received money from corporations for being the Party of NO. They got paid to vote against American Taxpayers.

The first thing they blame for the deficit is Medicare, and Social Security. That is a downright lie. It is not these entitlement programs that are the problem. It is their useless selves in office lying for pay to the American People. If they were honest, they wouldn't lie to make the American People think that they are broke because of entitilements. WE are broke because they scam and skim the government thru wars and Unthinkable spending thru giving unsurmountable Pensions and Health Care Benefits to themselves.
LET'S Put the blame on them, not the citizens who have worked their as-ses off to make a living and have the right to retire with dignity.

They have spent Medicare money and blame Medicare and S.S. for all their woes!!!!! Don't believe me, go to (ntui.org) to see what the state of Illinois is doing with the unsurmounable amount of money coming in and going out faster than it is coming in!!!!! because of hundreds and hundreds of Retirements being a total of $20,000 to $30,000 a month to hundreds of Supt. of Schools retirees making them milllionaires!
while, right now, trying to cut school days to 4 days a week!!! Can you imagine that, the poor mothers that work for a living having to worry about that extra day, while she is working!!!!! And they have already laid of 100's of good teachers who will probably have to work at Wal Mart for a measly minimum wage!!!!!! NO. NO. NO. They are lying to us as to WHERE THE MONEY GOES!!!! THEY ARE LYING. THEY ARE LYING!!!!! Go to (ntui.org) to see just WHY on state (if Illinois) is broke!!!!

Seems to be a simple mistake. Why don't you guys concentrate on the real issues. Why are the Dems so insistent on raising taxes on everything? Answer: Control!

This is really sad. I am not a republican and I am not here to bash anyone but we as a nation and certainly our leaders need to take accountability and double check the materials we put out. It is an embarrassment to our nation's image as a whole, and it doesn't matter if you are democratic, republican, independet or just a citizen. This is an embarrassment to us all! I am praying for the leadership of this nation to RETURN BACK TO GOD before it is too late.
