RNC is tripped up by sex hotline

The Republican National Committee is now facing questions as to why a number on a fundraising mail piece led people to a telephone sex hotline.

The Republican National Committee is now facing questions as to why a number on a fundraising mail piece led people to a telephone sex hotline.

Atlanta (CNN) - Already under fire for picking up the tab at a Los Angeles nightclub where topless dancers mimic sex acts, the Republican National Committee is now facing questions as to why a number on a fundraising mail piece led people to a telephone sex hotline.

It clearly was a mistake, but it couldn't come at a worse time for the RNC, which has faced a barrage of criticism from social conservatives for the nightclub expense.

“We love nasty talk as much as you do," a woman is heard on the other end of the sex hotline. The woman, whose voice is on a recorded message, also welcomes callers as “sexy guy” and says this is an opportunity for them to talk to "students, housewives and working girls from all over the country."

A Minnesota resident received the mailer that asked recipients a series of questions and urged them to donate a minimum of $25 to help Republicans return to power in Washington. The resident gave it to his congressman, who in turn delivered to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The DCCC, the campaign arm for House Democrats, provided a copy of the fundraising letter and a recording of the telephone message to CNN. CNN called the number and it is still active.

RNC spokesman Doug Heye acknowledged that this fundraising letter did go out, but said it was a mistake.

"The number in question was a typographical error by a vendor used on this particular mailer – using 1-800 instead of 202," he said. "As you can see from the attachments, this is an isolated incident and will not be repeated in the future."

Is it any wonder why the American people are so pissed at the government of this country? and it's getting worse with each rising of the sun. I'm surprised there are no other comments posted. I commented just before the one above about the governments of other countries as knowing how to run a country. It's apparent the government in the US doesn't.

Judas got thirty pieces of silver to betray Jesus. Michael Steele got $107 million to betray his party. Me thinks there is a little bit of Judas in Chairman Steele or perhaps Judas was a Republican.

Unfair! Money spent on strippers could be better utilized flying Hannity and his buddies around the country.

Actually, these are silly issues, and the righties are just looking for an excuse to boot their token.

Is there a Republican left who isn't a sex deviant? Instead of merging with the Tea Party, they ought to join the Vatican.

Are they sure the phone number is a mistake? This sounds like just the sort of fundraiser that could woo the "Young Eagles" who weren't able to visit the sex club...

I know a 50 year old fat guy who disguises his voice and says he is a female student, housewives or working girl but he said ever since that fundraiser mail piece went out he has had a lot of requests for him to just talk dirty as himself.

The GOP is finally loosening up! What happened to the party of Family Values and Religious Right? Nice to see the GOP not so uptight about everything. Maybe the dirty laundry has always been there, just behind the closed closets.

At least Republican donors finally have a chance to get something back for their money. The party of No is becoming the party of Ho.

Poor RNC, these guys need help badly. Giving gramma's hard earned donations to a strip club, referring potential donors to a sex chat no. Who is running the show, Larry Craig, Mark Foley and David Vitter?
