RNC is tripped up by sex hotline

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/04/01/art.rncsteele.gi.jpg caption ="The Republican National Committee is now facing questions as to why a number on a fundraising mail piece led people to a telephone sex hotline."] Atlanta (CNN) - Already under fire for picking up the tab at a Los Angeles nightclub where topless dancers mimic sex acts, the Republican National Committee is now facing questions as to why a number on a fundraising mail piece led people to a telephone sex hotline.

It clearly was a mistake, but it couldn't come at a worse time for the RNC, which has faced a barrage of criticism from social conservatives for the nightclub expense.

“We love nasty talk as much as you do," a woman is heard on the other end of the sex hotline. The woman, whose voice is on a recorded message, also welcomes callers as “sexy guy” and says this is an opportunity for them to talk to "students, housewives and working girls from all over the country."

A Minnesota resident received the mailer that asked recipients a series of questions and urged them to donate a minimum of $25 to help Republicans return to power in Washington. The resident gave it to his congressman, who in turn delivered to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The DCCC, the campaign arm for House Democrats, provided a copy of the fundraising letter and a recording of the telephone message to CNN. CNN called the number and it is still active.

RNC spokesman Doug Heye acknowledged that this fundraising letter did go out, but said it was a mistake.

"The number in question was a typographical error by a vendor used on this particular mailer – using 1-800 instead of 202," he said. "As you can see from the attachments, this is an isolated incident and will not be repeated in the future."

“We love nasty talk as much as you do,"?

Sounds like a sex hot line that finally caters exclusively to Republicans.

“We love nasty talk as much as you do" was the GOP's motto in 2009, right?

A typographical error??? REALLY!! Yet they got the message correct. They want the caller to donate to the RNC. Sorry. The "oops, somebody dialed the wrong number excuse" this time doesn't work.

And people wonder why Bush and company nearly took down this country from 2001-2008?

This is another reason why the media and the GOP has spoken too soon (just like they did on healthcare) that victory is at hand b/c conventional wisdom says so. At the rate the GOP is unraveling, they'll be lucky to acquire 10 house seats and 2 senate seats.

Vote Democrat or Independent come November.

These republicans are absolutely incompetent and useless. One scandal after another...one stupid statement after another...nothing but obstructionism, fear mongering and lies. ..all while preaching American and family values. What hypocrites! It's amazing that anyone with any common sense and intelligence would even consider voting for them, let alone send them donations!

Somehow I'm not completely sure it was a mistake. The press should check the ownership of the sex line, it just might be the GOP. I wouldn't put anything past them.

  18. The GOP wants to take our country backwards

The GOP thought its little "April Fools Day" ad against President Obama was funny, but this is MUCH FUNNIER and ITS TRUE!!!! By, the way wasn't there a law passed recently against Republicans using fake census forms to solicit money? Why are they still doing it?

I think that the sexy woman's voice on the recording was Sarah Palin. I think that the message said "Do we love sexy talk as much as you do? You betcha".
