Giuliani backs Rubio, rips into Obama

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/04/05/art.giuliani.gi.jpg caption="Guliani backed Rubio Monday in heated comments directed at Crist and Obama."](CNN) - Rudy Giuliani hailed former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio Monday as the "one candidate that [Florida Republicans] can trust" to uphold conservative values in Washington.

"This is an easy choice in this race," the former New York City mayor said at a press conference in Miami before a gathering of Rubio supporters. "This is an easy choice for a Republican because he is the one candidate that we can trust to represent Republican principles in Washington and remain a Republican if he goes to Washington."

Rubio will face Florida Gov. Charlie Crist in the GOP senatorial primary in late August.

Giuliani's endorsement is among Rubio's most high profile to date, and is being seen as political payback to Crist who refused to endorse the former New York City mayor during his presidential bid two years ago.

Crist instead lent his last-minute support to Arizona Republican John McCain, who ultimately won that state's pivotal presidential primary and effectively ended Giuliani's hopes of becoming the GOP's presidential nominee.

A Mason-Dixon poll late last month showed Rubio leading Crist among Republican voters by 11 points, 48-37 percent. Fifteen percent in that survey remained undecided.

But it was almost as if Giuliani was back on the presidential campaign trail himself Monday, using much of his 10-minute endorsement speech to criticize President Obama's policies - specifically his approach to the war on terrorism.

"Let's have an America that stands up to terrorism, not an America that has ambiguity and confusion," Giuliani said. "Do we want to see people like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed tried in New York? Or Miami? Shouldn't he be tried in a military tribunal?"

"The president can't make up his mind," he continued. "Do you understand what kind of lack of leadership that shows to the rest of the world? I tried over 4,000 criminals. The easiest decision I had was where to try them."

Like Rudy Giuliani really has any creditability...not to mention he was beat by John McCain. Therefore, I can really see Gov. Crist winning now!

Didn't Guliani endorse his former police commissioner for Secretary of Home Land Security; who turned out to be a criminal and serve time in prison for stealing and other unethical behavior as a public official? So much for his endorsement. I wonder why Rubio would even want to be endorsed by someone of Guliani's questionable character – to say the least? Birds of a feather do what???? Flock together.

To Guiliani and all the other Obama bashers: President Obama won the election and he is President of this US of A. Live with it.
And Guiliani, not every one agrees with your conservative principles. They have been tried and have been found wanton.

This guy is unreal . First he changes from Democrat to Republican. Then he runs for the GOP Presidential nomination( he is NOT ENDORSED BY Crist) and his whole stradegy was to win big in Florida over McCain. Now he endorses Rubio over Crist. Not much of a track record...I sure wouldn't want his endorsement. Sounds like the kiss of death !!!

With all his attempts to destroy the President, Guiliani is more of an enemy today than he ever was a patriot after 9/11. The GOP spoke in the last primary and labeled him a loser. Please dear God, give him a big enough foot to shove down his throat and shup him up.

Ok, so which of Giuliani's republican principles is he hoping Rubio represents in Washington: adultry or the employment of criminals? I have nothing against Rubio, but this is pretty rich coming from Giuliani.

One horses behind recommends another horses behind. Rudy's recommendation doesn't mean squat to me. Rudy is a man who can not be trusted and should go hide out with George Bush, Jr.
