Fey likely to revive Palin impersonation

Tina Fey is likely to bring back her Sarah Palin impersonation.

Tina Fey is likely to bring back her Sarah Palin impersonation.

(CNN) - Writers for Saturday Night Live likely completed a sketch featuring Tina Fey's infamous impersonation of Sarah Palin Tuesday, Fey told NBC's the Today Show.

Fey, a onetime cast member of the late night comedy program who is set to serve as its host this weekend, said she hasn't seen the sketch yet but will do an initial run through of it Wednesday.

"I am going to read through later today and see what's up. They wrote last night," Fey said. "I am sure we will try something."

Fey, whose impersonations of Palin in 2008 were widely-credited with shaping perceptions of the then-Republican vice presidential nominee, told the U.K. paper The Telegraph earlier this week she hasn't been keeping up with Palin's latest moves.

"I haven't been watching her on television lately because I've been working on '30 Rock,'" she said.

While Fey's impersonation of Palin won wide praise, the comedienne indicated back in 2008 it's not a character she is keen on reviving.

"I want to be done playing this lady Nov. 5," she said in reference to Election Day, 2008. "So if anybody can help me be done playing this lady Nov. 5, that would be good for me."

What surprises me (apart from many of the posters here being only loosely acquainted with the English language) is that you don't see "liberals" complaining about Amy Poehler doing her schtick on Hilary Clinton – in fact, many find it exactly what it is intended to be: a caricature; and funny. Amy's routine is just as funny as Tina's, but evidently, liberals have a sense of humor, while conservatives don't.

I find it amusing how the left wings fear of Sarah Palin brings out their hate.

Sarah Palin is a true beacon of conservatism. She is just like us. She knows the trials and tribulations of real Americans. Well, those of us with witch hunters.

She has them liberals running scared with her down to earth common sense solutions.

Oh they knock her and say she has nothing of substance to say but she has the answers right in the palm of her hand. Literally. And in permanent ink marker to boot.

We can also be rest assured that she is 100 percent witches curse and demon free.

I myself am thinking of petitioning for her sainthood. After all, she made two house appear out of thin air.

All these comments about liberals bashing Palin are missing the large group of us Republicans that bash her as well, it's not "a liberal thing". She is not leader quality. If you take away the hateful comedy jabs she makes, there is nothing more than a shallow vacuous hole. I am praying the Republican party will pull their heads out of the sand and present us a leader we WANT to vote for not just the "anti-liberal"

    Le sigh.....

@ Fitz In Texas- Everybody is afraid of a train wreck. Fun to watch, but scary to be in one. Same goes for Palin. No one is afraid of her- unless she actually had responsibility. Better have a back up plan; she'll bail as soon as things get tough or she can make more money doing something else.

The best comedian is someone who can make a mockery of something scary. Sarah Palin was one scary person, and the very idea of this ignorant person being a breath away from being the commander-in-chief, scared everyone. Tina Fey made us laugh our hearts out, and that is what she rocked.

Is it not hard to dumb down enought to accurately portray Palin? It is easy enought to get a look alike, but palying the dumb must be very hard!

It has been fascinating reading all of the comments about Tina Fey's upcoming appearance on SNL. For many of those who are defending Sarah Palin, it is amazing how innacurate even their basic arguements are:

    1) "...and that the scenarios in her(Tina's) skits actually happened. The reality is that there were actually a few of the skits where Tina read exactly from the real transcript, word, for word for word. You just can't make up stuff like that.

    2) Many readers have complained that SNL only make fun of republicans/conservatives. Obviously they have never watched the show. Obama, Biden, Reid, Pelosi have all been skewered.

    3) Tina Fey is a has-been no talent. Hmm...star/ creator of her own award winning show, big dollar movie about to be released - yes, that sounds like looserville to me.

Well Tina Fey better keep her impersonations in good taste or kiss Satuday Night Live goodby. Us PALIN supporters have taken all this stupid hyprocritical crap off of OBAMA supporters and the comedians we can stand. If it takes blackballing their shows we will. That goes, (oh yeah we don't have to on that one–The President also).

Fey Mocks Palin, and all the right-wing nuts get geatly 'offended' , but to a man, woman, and child, they don't think TWICE to mock the president, call him a socialist, marxist, dictator, Nobama, 24/7/365...it has yet to let up.

Heaven forbid a progressive poke fun at that 'private citizen' , you all get agitated. Palin, is no longer a public servant. She is however the worlds biggest pimp, as she is making millions off of talking points. All you conservatives have fun throwing your money at her. How about at her next appearance, she just come on stage and dance up and down a pole. Right now there is no difference, as she has no credibility, or dignity.

Tina Fey by the way is quite hot, and smart.

I love how the Repubs who say the Democrats are afraid of Palin are in turn afraid of Tina Fey's portrayal of Palin. Pot calling the kettle black.

Tina Fey's Palin sketches are funny and ludicrous. But not as funny and ludicrous as the real thing! 😀

It scares me that people are even interested in Palin, shows that we need to educate our people more.

Sarah Palin is an idiot, so she's an easy target for SNL. The stuff they've done so far cracks me up. I actually saw an idiot with a Palin 2012 bumper sticker on his car. I hope those Republicans wake up and nominate someone with a brain. W was brainless and look at all the trouble we're in now due to his stupidity. We can see-saw back and forth on who's the Prez and get by, but having morons in the White House of either party is a bad idea for all of us.

Tina's career is booming! The high point of her career is definitely 30Rock. What rock do you live under?

Character assassination? You've got to be kidding. All Sarah has to do is open her big mouth. It's fun to point and laugh at someone who does a great job of ridiculing herself. But Tina just makes it funnier because her impersonation is so accurate.

    Crybabies!

Turns out that in the end Sarah Palin was a lot smarter than you......you're still doing impersonations while she's become a media giant earning millions along the way.....thanks for your help goofball....

Hah. I'm almost certain Fey probably makes more money than Palin. And keeps her dignity while doing it. Palin's a sell out.

Hey! but I thought that Sarah Palin was irrelevant, a 'quiter' and not worth talking about? It is Tina Fey who is going to look foolish here. The American Left just don't get it!

It's sad when you realize how much of their time these conservatives spend being frightened. When a person can get through the day without an original thought in their head they can count a wasted day...unless you count contributing to Fox News ratings as accomplishing something. My 13 year old middle schooler demonstrates more insight every day than Sara and her fans.
