Fey likely to revive Palin impersonation

Tina Fey is likely to bring back her Sarah Palin impersonation.

Tina Fey is likely to bring back her Sarah Palin impersonation.

(CNN) - Writers for Saturday Night Live likely completed a sketch featuring Tina Fey's infamous impersonation of Sarah Palin Tuesday, Fey told NBC's the Today Show.

Fey, a onetime cast member of the late night comedy program who is set to serve as its host this weekend, said she hasn't seen the sketch yet but will do an initial run through of it Wednesday.

"I am going to read through later today and see what's up. They wrote last night," Fey said. "I am sure we will try something."

Fey, whose impersonations of Palin in 2008 were widely-credited with shaping perceptions of the then-Republican vice presidential nominee, told the U.K. paper The Telegraph earlier this week she hasn't been keeping up with Palin's latest moves.

"I haven't been watching her on television lately because I've been working on '30 Rock,'" she said.

While Fey's impersonation of Palin won wide praise, the comedienne indicated back in 2008 it's not a character she is keen on reviving.

"I want to be done playing this lady Nov. 5," she said in reference to Election Day, 2008. "So if anybody can help me be done playing this lady Nov. 5, that would be good for me."

remember whjen all the righties were calling President Obama a "ROCK STAR", the "MESSIAH", and always just eager for a photo op?

Well lo and behold here comes Sarah Palin who if you look at is a ROCK STAR...hawking books, autographs, speeches, making dollars hand over fist, incting anger with her speeches at Tea Party rallies and nver one to turn down a photo op! She may also the the Messiah for the fr right since no one other than maybe Limbaugh can unite their right wing loonie base. Yet despite making fun of Obama, all this is ok with the righties!

So if ANYONE deserves to be made fun of it's Sarah Palin and it's about time the left and others that disagree with her start doing so. The past few months she's been going cross country lambasting all the left , the president and everyone iother Democrat. Of course she'll just cry about the evil liberal left wing media..the same one she has little problem exploiting when she needs them.

    Go Tina!

People posting "why not a Nancy Pelosi impersonation?" comments perplex me. If an actress did a dead-on NP, people would enjoy and watch. Maybe not as much as a Sarah Palin bit, but the reason people love Tina Fey's bit is that it is a rare and perfect blend of a close resemblance and smart humor. Just dressing up and doing a stand-up sketch doesn't always work. Here we have a striking lookalike, a great actress, and heaven-sent source material. Sorry folks, an NP bit would probably be pretty ho-hum.

It's too bad that there are a LOT of Americans who watch that show, and believe that whatever Fey says as Palin is actually something Palin said. Since most of them get their "news" from late-night comedy shows, they have no ability to discern fact from comedy. The end result is personality and character assassination.

Too bad so many people thought she really was Palin and that the scenarios in her sketches actually happened. When people believe fiction to be real, bad things happen – like Obama

Marilyn what have you been watching, Fey doing a role of palin was spot on, the scenarios of the skits were spot on and really happened. Sarah Palin cares nothing for you or me, she is the gift that keeps on giving (comedy)...Sarah Palin only cares for herself and making money and the way she is making money is genious...off the backs of stu***pid people

I know that making a comment about Palin only fuels her media presence, but she is like watching a car crash. Rouses my morbid curiosity.

Fey is a has been, She's trying to relive what she considers is her glory days.

Uhhhhhh . . . . yeah, except for that little show called "30 Rock" which keeps winning awards and all! Maybe you should turn off Faux News for awhile, Michael. There's a whole, big world out there beyond Beck & Hannity.

Palin will pick a fight with Ms. Fey next week. Palin will say the liberal media mock me, blah, blah, blah. Just because I call people terrorists, socialists and other horrible names does not give them the right to mock me, blah, blah, blah.

Nobody can say Republicans aren't consistent. Everything boils down to politics, their our way or the doorway mentality. Don't mention Palin's many shortcomings. Instead, attack a comedian. Give us all a break.

Hey, morons, are you incapable of having a laugh? That you are so enamored with Palin is frightening.

If you believe in her so much – elect her! Anyone who blindly follows this imbecile, Palin either live in La La Land or have values that make me embarrassed to be American.

What would you say about a Democrat who's daughter gave birth out of wedlock, or is so ill-informed that she has to lie in order to put a proper sentence together?

Grow up. I am no great fan of SNL or Tina Fey, I have nothing against them either but when Republicans view a comedy skit as a threat, it tells me they don't have an awful lot of praise for Palin.

When will conservatives grow up and join the rest of the world? You come across as a bunch of narrow-minded sheep. Woe is us!

the one thing i don't understand is why the right wingers assume the liberals are afraid of sarah palin. I've never understood that, and i still don't. she's not smart enough to be a serious threat to anyone.

  15. Seriously

Liberals ranting like this remind of republicans ranting. Funny, they both hurl the SAME insults at each other and accusse each other of intolerance and a slave to party doctrine.

    Hi, hypocrisy; Meet ignorance.

Tina was greatly rewarded by her liberal counterparts after her performance the first time. I never once felt she deserved any of the credit or awards she got. Yes it was a good impersonation, but she is just not that funny. Perfect example is the Marriage Ref. She was on that show with Jerry Seinfeld and totally looked out of place and awkward. Not one even remotely funny thing came from her mouth.

It's true that Sarah Palin has made a lot of money doing what she is doing, and if that was her goal, then she's pretty smart. I submit, however, that Sarah Palin has not made a single valuable contribution to society. She may die rich, but she'll soon be forgotten once she's dead. If anything, her only contribution has been to stoke hatred and discord in this country. In my view, that is not a life worth living no matter how many dollars it nets me.

Too bad the writers at SNL are too doped up on kool aid to do some satire on Obama, Biden and the rest of the Chicago cronies. It would be a riot.! Mr Bojangles and the gang are a comedy writers dream come true. Make good use of it. Get off of the trite boring private citizen attacks. Makes you look like desperate liberal idiots.

I really wish that the fanatics that scream out that "liberals" are socialists or fascists would take the time to actually find out what these terms mean.

(hint for the intelligence-challenged: they are direct opposites – no one can be both – except to someone who has no idea what they are talking about)

some of you are very stupid... you think this is how tina fey makes money? but imitating a clueless sportscaster wannabe?? she stars, writes and produces on of the best comedies on tv, she is in tons of movies. she probably made more money for the movie mean girls than palin has made in her whole life.
