Fey likely to revive Palin impersonation

Tina Fey is likely to bring back her Sarah Palin impersonation.

Tina Fey is likely to bring back her Sarah Palin impersonation.

(CNN) - Writers for Saturday Night Live likely completed a sketch featuring Tina Fey's infamous impersonation of Sarah Palin Tuesday, Fey told NBC's the Today Show.

Fey, a onetime cast member of the late night comedy program who is set to serve as its host this weekend, said she hasn't seen the sketch yet but will do an initial run through of it Wednesday.

"I am going to read through later today and see what's up. They wrote last night," Fey said. "I am sure we will try something."

Fey, whose impersonations of Palin in 2008 were widely-credited with shaping perceptions of the then-Republican vice presidential nominee, told the U.K. paper The Telegraph earlier this week she hasn't been keeping up with Palin's latest moves.

"I haven't been watching her on television lately because I've been working on '30 Rock,'" she said.

While Fey's impersonation of Palin won wide praise, the comedienne indicated back in 2008 it's not a character she is keen on reviving.

"I want to be done playing this lady Nov. 5," she said in reference to Election Day, 2008. "So if anybody can help me be done playing this lady Nov. 5, that would be good for me."

    It always baffled me how liberal feminists bash conservative females in positions of power. Kind of contradictory, isn't it?

    You know it is amazing the job the libertards have done in demeaning and demonizing Palin. I have a daughter who started talking about how she hates her. I started asking questions why and she said because she is so stupid. I asked more questions about where she had seen and heard Palin. It turned out it was Saturday Nite Live and selected clips from the "Daily Show" and Keith Olberman. And she and the other liberals thing Palin is stupid on the basis of a caricature created by Tina Fey? Liberal mentality at work.

    Oh Lord, the way Palin holds a grudge, we'll never hear the last of it. Still, Tina Fey is great.

    Tina Fey, you might have been funny once. But, Sara Palin has abundantly demonstrated her shrewdness, her political knowledge, her leadership skill etc. during the last 18 months or so. But, to the dumbest of the dumb, she remains a nightmare. Sara Palin has shown the world that she understands the issues with the recently enacted HC law better than most Americans. If SNL and Tina Fey wanted to show that they are smart and witty, they need to lampoon Obama and his supporters, not Sara Palin. Sorry, lame tream media, but the gig is up…..

    Tina, isn't it sad the high point of your career is imitating somebody else?! Maybe it's time to get on with a real career?

    **********************************************************
    Real career? She has won 7 Emmys, 3 Golden Globes, 4 SAGS, and 4 WGA Awards, created and produces her own TV show, among many other accomplishements. For those of you that seem to think that all she does is run around impersonating Palin, get real. She was very successful long before that.

    "Turns out that in the end Sarah Palin was a lot smarter than you......you're still doing impersonations while she's become a media giant earning millions along the way.....thanks for your help goofball...."

    Hahaha! You right wing morons really don't watch anything but Fox, do you? Tina has a little TV show called 30 Rock. It's kind of a hit. Tina's doing all right money wise. She's also head writer (she's literate and can speak in complete sentences unlike the shrieking cow from Alaska). Have a nice day!

    Hey Truth, what can't stand about you right wing reactionaries is that you claim to speak for the American people. If all Americans where racist reactionaries that might be true.

    Tina Fey rocks and there is no denying it. Palin is a money-hungry personality who puts herself before her family. She's a quitter who thrives on the lower intelligent breed who cannot think for themselves.

    -

    Um, I think you actually just described Tina Fey without realizing it. Money hungry? Check. Quitter (left SNL for more money)? Check. Thrives on the lower intelligent breed with SNL and movies like Mean Girls? Check.

    Sarah Palin is a comic sketch all on her own. Tina Fey is spot-on and hilarious, and I pray she has the lines written in her hand for the entire show.

    Oh and another thing – I think it's hilarious that there are simpletons out there who think Palin is somehow more "successful" or "better" than Tina because Palin is making lots of $$....

    which tells us that

    a) your only yardstick of "success" is $$$
    b) you are blissfully unaware that she's also a laughing stock, not only in the US but around the entire civilized world.

    The USA is in grave danger because of this good-looking but oatmeal-brained phenomenon, and the unthinking sheep that are following her because of her style, not her (lack of) substance.

    My biggest regret is that the people destroying our country, conservatives, will never see the history texts asking how it is that an entire group of people ignored fact, shouted down truth, attacked others when backed into a corner on policy, and basically crushed the spirit of the American people with hatred and fear. Some of the comments in here, especially the ones insulting someones intelligence, make me wonder if there is any decency or free thinking among any of them. How in the world can conservatives constantly call others dumb, then turn around and support Sarah Palin? The woman can barely answer a question coherently. Q: What newspapers or magazines do you read? Palin's answer: All of them. Please.

    Uh, folks, I hate to tell you but Tina Fey has a hit TV show that she stars in and writes, and a hit movie at the same time. Who are the dolts saying she's a has been? Jealousy is bad for your mental health. You should get therapy.

    Tina Fey's impersonation is totally hilarious –
    it is shocking that some contiue to lionize someone like Palin – I would turn to Sarah Palin if I needed advice on ice-fishing, or on setting traps for animals – but COME ON – a recent poll suggested that a slight majority of REPUBLICANS now believe that Palin is unqualified to be president (so no, it's not just the left that think's she's clueless).

    Fey knows that impersonating Palin brings attention to the character again... which is the last thing she wants to do.

    Since Nov 5th 2008, Palin has:
    Quit being Governor;
    Attacked Rahm Emanuel and others on Facebook;
    Written talking points on her hand-o-prompter;
    Signed up for celebrity hosting on Fox and the Discovery Channel...

    It can't be helped. The woman is a huge joke. She creates sooo much material to go on.

    If Tina Fey ran against Sarah Palin in the Republican primary, I would not hesitate to vote for Tina. I figure a shot in the dark is better than a known pathological liar (death panels), a person of very limited intelligence, and an unstable personality.

    doug, libjersey @11:51am. What makes it so funny is that none of what Ms. Fey did was "lie-ridden". All she had to do was repeat, verbatim, the inanities coming out of Ms. Palin's mouth. Oh, and, I see that MatthewDetroit and TCM have somehow gotten day passes from the looney bin and are running amuk again on the CNN site. You guys planning on having a picnic together?

    Interesting to see so many people here trembling in fear over what Tina Fey will do to their precious Sarah Palin on a show that they supposedly don't care about. Then to remark on how "liberals fear Sarah"? Seems the Palin fans are the ones sweating here.

    I'm not a big fan of Fey, but she does have a hit television series on a major networ and appears to be branching out into a strong movie career. Her career certainly seems more solid than Palin's (who can only get work on basic cable channels). I find it odd that so many people who don't like Fey here bash her looks and talent. Isn't that supposed to be the defense of Palin used? That people hate her because of her "looks" and "talents"? Or is that really just hypocrisy in action?

    it one think to make someone famous and they go on to make money....what effective about what miss Fey does is that it just sinks into us even more why mccain choosing failin Palin and the economy was why his loss in 08 was such a big deal...fine Tina playing failin palin might have helped failing palin but guess what? Americans are pretty sure sure at this point she will never be president....thats why what tina does is soooo effecctive and keeps my sides aching in laughter.....sorry failin palin will never replace Hillary Clinton!
