Suspect in Pelosi threats case weeps at court hearing

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/04/08/art.pelosi.gi.jpg caption="A man accused of threatening House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wept Thursday as he talked to his attorney before a federal court hearing."]San Francisco, California (CNN) - A man accused of threatening House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wept Thursday as he talked to his attorney before a federal court hearing.

Gregory L. Giusti, 48, was arrested Wednesday in San Francisco, California, where Pelosi's home district is located, according to FBI spokesman Joseph Schadler.

No further details were immediately available about the case. The FBI said more would be revealed at the court hearing.

Pelosi is the top Democrat in the U.S. House and was a leading figure in efforts to win congressional approval of sweeping health care legislation.

A statement from Pelosi's office said the arrest occurred "after an investigation into threats against" the speaker. It thanked law enforcement officials and said Pelosi would have no further comment at this time.

Threats against U.S. senators and representatives increased as Congress completed work last month on the health care bill, which was unanimously opposed by Republicans. In addition, conservative activists around the country protested the bill. Most of the reported threats were against Democrats, though there were some against Republicans.

On Tuesday, the Justice Department announced the arrest of a 64-year-old Washington state resident for allegedly issuing death threats against Democratic Sen. Patty Murray of Washington state, who supported the health care bill.

A department statement said the suspect, identified as Charles Alan Wilson of Selah, Washington, made the threats in phone messages to Murray's office between March 22 and April 4.

Wilson allegedly stated that Murray "had a target on her back" and that he wanted to kill her, according to the statement, which said the threats were in response to congressional passage of the new health care bill.

Threatening a federal official is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, the statement said.

Yep, that was pretty stupid of him. Much more acceptable to ask her to simply turn herself in to answer charges of Treason and Sedition.

Hit Pelosi where it hurts her the most...........vote her out of office and take away that cushy private jet she cherishes so much......We would save a fortune if this woman were sent into retirement.

I hope these people if proven guilty receive the maximum sentence. This situation must be gotten under control, and some help from the judicial system would be helpful!

Those who have left threatening messages for the Democrats can expected expect to be quietly rounded up for a long visit to Federal prison.
Those who were demonstrating in Washington can now expect their names and pictures are now a part of a Police criminal database, they will now know that obeying the law is a prerequisite to being a good citizen.
Get the all and lock em away.

    typical bully.
it's way easy to threaten someone from a place of anonymity.
but when you're caught and the right wing can't – or won't – hide you, weep.
everyone feel sorry for the bully.
    yeah, that's the ticket.

Although Pelosi is a Hazard to the US future – there is no room for that kind of behavior. We have an election process in the US to remove incompetent people like her.

Here we have a man (most likely a white man) that is now crying because he did something stupid. Being 48 years old, he probably was brought up to think that his world would continue forever. Times and things have changed for a lot of people and the desperation to maintain the status quo becomes almost unbearable. With that imagined understanding, the real world facts are:
    1) This man and others like him should be put in jail for a long time
    2) Those individuals and groups that believe it is OK to take matters into their own hands need to understand that we are a people and nation of laws and this world does not simply go around for you.
Wake-up America. The Republicans and their co-horts the Tea Baggers/Birthers have taken things way off the chart and someone needs to reign these wing-nuts in.

What is the fine and prison sentence for knowingly and willfully violating our Constitutional rights with your healthcare legislation?

this is exactly why the leaders of the right wing, the tea partiers and the media tallking heads ought to take care with regards to what they say on camera.
some of these people listening CANNOT disceren between rhetoric and reality.
they'll take your words and out them into action, regardless of whether you MEANT them to threaten to kill someone or not.
it may be 'cute' to show a map with targets on it...but the people out there with little reasoning skills will take you at face value.
how would Palin have felt if this guy actually DID kill Pelosi?
what would her god say to her then?????

These people with the bagger mentality need to realize that this is NOT a playground! This is America and you can't bully or make threats to get your way. This is STILL a democracy.and they LOST big time.People who make these threats will pay for it.

I feel bad for this guy actually. The democrats do not care at all about the American people and what they want, which is NOT higher taxes, immigration and health care that we are forced to have that they themselves would NOT think of having. The people are feeling helpless, invisible and controlled by these politicians. We loved American so why do they want to take it down? They are pushing the people to the breaking point. The anger is not racist anger it is what this guy represents and stands for that is horrible. Government take over is what he is about. Don't blindly believe what the democrats say, do your research and you will learn a whole lot!

These types of pathetic folks who sit at their computer sending mean and nasty stuff around or on their phone leaving nasty messages or carrying nasty signs with their ill-informed friends turn into the biggest whimpy cry-babies possible when they are actually confronted or arressted.
I hope this guy gets 10 years in prison. I'd rather see our prisons filled with these type of hate filled Tea Baggers than the folks that are in there because they were caught chillin' with a doobie and bothering absolutely no one!

Yea, there's a lot of "tuff" teapootiers and wingnuts out there; until they break the law and get arrested and afraid Bubba is gonna be their cellmate.
Most all are just crybaby whiners that are more mad at the fact that they now have a 1/2 black man as President. All this other garbage is just the way foolish people try and disguise their real intent.
The proof is everywhere that this country is full of undercover racists. The latest and most visible is the Confederacy Proclamation put out by Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell that honors these traitors to the USA... and then playing it off like slavery was a minor reason for the Civil War.

Holy cr@p people, if you're a racist, be proud! Stop trying to hide and be true to yourselves. There are an awful lot of your ilk in this country.
Just be careful you don't risk ending up alone inna cell with the subject of your ignorance; like Charles Wilson might. LMFAO!!!
