White House's top health care spokeswoman resigning post

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/04/08/art.wh0407.gi.jpg caption ="Linda Douglass, a top spokeswoman on health care for the Obama administration, said Thursday she is leaving her post."](CNN) - Linda Douglass, a top spokeswoman on health care for the Obama administration, said Thursday she is leaving her post.

"It has been a tremendous honor to serve the President, and leaving this great team is bittersweet," she said in a statement. "After nearly 2 years of work that has been exhilarating and grueling in equal measure, I am going to step off the treadmill for awhile and rediscover the experience of dining with my husband on a regular basis. It has been a privilege to be part of the health care team, and I will be cheering with pride from the sidelines as this historic law takes effect."

Douglass, a former ABC News correspondent, joined then-Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign in 2008 and went to work for the administration after Obama was elected.

White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said Douglass "will continue to be a valued advisor to this President and this White House."

When Americans see what ObamaCare does to the quality and cost of our health care system, look for a major excuse campaign from the Democrats. They will be disassociating themselves from it even faster than they are distancing themselves from the Stimulus Bill.

She deserves a good rest. Her, along with many of the spokespeople I see for the H on CNN say a lot of words and none of them ever answer the question asked. It is just pure spin and I am sure they do get tired of trying to come up with new ways of saying lots while saying nothing. She was good at it!

It will take a long time to feel clean again after two years of rolling in that filth.

God Bless Linda Douglass. She was the right person for the job! Job well done! Health Care reform passed and is now the law of the homeland! The Right Wing nutcases here would only wish they had someone of her caliber working for president Cheney (we all know who ran the show) during the horrific 8 years he ran the country into the ground. Might have helped shine a better light on his no-bid contracted pre-emptive war machine.

Thank you Mrs. Douglass for a job well done and staying until the finish line. Enjoy your well deserved leisure time with your family, you were there during the Clinton era and you came back to help with health care reform. Thank you.

Such a group of angry, and seemingly uninformed people here. It's so unfortunate for our country. Remember how long it took to start sinking the ship – it can't be righted in just a few months. Thank goodness for the Health Bill which will give so many the health coverage they have needed for so long! And so so many other benefits. Read before commenting perhaps...and for many who posted, a review of the English language might be in order, too!

I was always taught that if you don't have anything nice to say, then keep your mouth shut. So in regards to President Obama's Healthcare bill and all those who helped pass it, I have the following to say. ......................................................................................................

Just having to put up with the constant lies from Republicans and Fox News is enough to make anyone quit!!!

You did a excellent job and God Bless You. At least there are still some of us left in the country that actually care about other people. Not the ones with tea bags on their head yelling nonsense. I see a lot of people posting on here that have no idea what they are talking about. Proof positive!

Maybe she left because she doesn't like the idea of bankrupting America to provide health care to freeloaders who pay no taxes.

She is part of a great and historic moment in the nation's history. The time we finally moved into the20th century. Still more to do to catch up with those who were moving forward while we were under the misguided governance of republicons, but it is a good first step.

She joined for the 2008 campaign and moved right onto the health care reform campaign after the election? sounds like she's had 2-3 years of the most grueling job in America and now that she's achieved total success, he won election and signed health care reform, she can finally take a deep breath and get back to living a normal life. Congrats!

Read her statement. Hardly "running away from" her part in health care. Quit the contrary. Unlike you tea baggers and right wingers liberal Democrats actually d their homework. It is why Democrats actually pass plicies that make sense, and it is also why Democrats get so tired of talking to conservatives who are so freakin incurious that they will accept whatever their "daddies" at fux and talk radio tell them, even when it contradicts what they so heartily "believed" the day before.

Now that she has helped to destroy the USA and murder babies, elderly and chronically ill – she is stepping down? Now that she will no longer be a 'player' does she get to keep her 'special' health care or does she have to suffer with the rest of us? The only thing better would be the so-called president and his corrupt administration stepping down.
