Obama brushes off Palin on nuclear deal

President Obama on Friday brushed off criticism from Sarah Palin that his agreement with Russia to restrict the use of nuclear weapons amounts to a dangerous sign of weakness.

(CNN) - President Obama on Friday brushed off criticism from Sarah Palin that his agreement with Russia to restrict the use of nuclear weapons amounts to a dangerous sign of weakness.

"I really have no response," the president said tersely in an interview on ABC's Good Morning America. "Because last I checked, Sarah Palin's not much of an expert on nuclear issues."

Speaking on Fox News earlier this week, Palin said the recently negotiated treaty with Russia - seeking a reduction in the number of nuclear weapons held by the two countries - is an "unbelievable" move and that "no administration in America's history I think would ever have considered such a step."

"It's kinda like getting out in the playground, a bunch of kids ready to fight, and one of the kids saying 'go ahead, punch me in the face, I am not going to retaliate, go ahead and do what you want to with me,'" Palin said.

Obama said Friday: "I would say to them is that if the secretary of defense and the chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff are comfortable with it, I'm probably going to take my advice from them and not from Sarah Palin."

The treaty requires approval from two-thirds of the Senate to go into effect. Some of the chamber's Republicans, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, have indicated that they are not ready to support the deal.

"The Senate will assess whether or not the agreement is verifiable, whether it reduces our nation's ability to defend itself and our allies from the threat of nuclear armed missiles, and whether or not this administration is committed to preserving our own nuclear triad," McConnell said in a statement.

Sarah Palin makes lots of comments she has no knowledge of. She is a quitter, a loser and lover of the limelight. I admire American women that are intelligent and have something to offer to our country. Sarahs beauty is only skin deep but her ugly runs clear to the bone.

Palin is intellectual inferior....someone with her level of education is not fit to lead this country or even speak effectively on such vital national policy issues. Palin is nothing more than a popular mouthpiece for the fringe elements in this country.

My God. Sarah Palin is a clueless talking head. I hope she runs for president so Obama can mop the floor with her.

Obummie is so concerned to please his Muslim buddies that he is destroying this country's ability to deter some other country from attacking us. He spits on our allies and cuddles up to Russia with HIS agreement to reduce arms. Luckily, the deal has to be approved by the senate and he will never get the 67 votes required.

But, but, Sarah can see Russia from her porch. Surely she's qualified enough to give advice on nuclear treaties with them. Does she really see global relationships, multi-national treaties, and international sovereignty issues as a playground where six and seven-year-olds set the rules?

"no administration in America's history I think would ever have considered such a step."? Now, here is a difference between a person that has nogin between their ears and who doesn"t. Please do some studying before you talk!! At least watch Daily Show with Jon. You might learn a thing or two.

Maybe Sarah should check her palm, or better yet, ask her High School drop-out husband. I'm sure he has the answer. Jeesh will these idiots ever quit spouting their ignorance of the facts?

I honestly don’t know what to say about Sarah Plain’s comment because every time she opens her mouth she sounds like an 8 year old child. It is a comment filled with uneducated stupidity like everything else she says. The only people that follow her are America’s uneducated class of whites that see blacks as below them. Even if we reduced our nuclear weapons to just a hand full, they would still be a deterrent because of the damage they cause. A reduction from the thousands we have will make little difference. This woman is the epitome of stupidity and the fact that she knows little of foreign policy or anything else within politics indicates she speaks without thinking.

FACT: The only real damage to foreign relations and national security that will come out of this, is the GOP's attempt to gain domestic political leverage and embarass Obama by refusing to approve the treaty and engaging in a massive misinformation fear campaign in a bid to scorre points for November...thereby snubbing Russia and showing the rest of the world that the No. 1 thing hampering the United States' ability to really take the reins and lead the world towards peaceful, practical solutions to our problems is our own self-serving elected officials who refuse to allow our political and governmental systems to work unless they are working to their advantage.

Hmmm, and yet its a renewal of a treaty originally brokered by the Reagan administration. I guess Sarah Palin is also not much of an expert on history, not even the history of Republican presidents. I think the only things she is expert in is getting media attention and advancing her own interests.

I guess Sarah Palin didn't research the fact that even with a 30% reduction in nukes by both countries, we both still have enough in the arsenal to destroy eachother. How is that weakening our defenses? What this treaty is attempting to do is to reduce the stockpiles of nukes that are not in silos and heavily protected, you know the ones laying around that make them targets of terrorists to try and steal and use against both our nations.

Nuclear weapons do not aim to protect us, if used they will only succeed in making large areas of the earth un-inhabitable for 40+ years, and kill billions of people in the process.

But then again this level of intellegence is way over Palin's peep brained head.

What an odd 'parable' for Ms. Palin to use. As a born again christian I would assume that taking Jesus's advise to 'turn the other cheek' might be a more appropriate response. Her maverick cowboy is showing.

I know Sarah may not be an expert on nukes, but isn't she an expert on Russia? After all, she can see it from her house!

haha, someone had to say it!

How about posting the treaty so we can see for ourselves what it says?

Well put Mr. President.. For a person who didn't even complete her term as governor, because she quit to make money, to offer foreign affairs advise, or critique, to the president is laughable. But then much of what she says is laughable, and it is sad to see white haired men/women eating it up. Do they think she's their long lost prodigal daughter come home to take care of them? If news sources would stop covering her (and all other celebrity gossip), the world would be a better place. For those who want such coverage there is FOX and National Inquirer.

Sara shouldn't talk, She can't even govern her own children and when thing get tough she quits like she did in Alaska. When are the people going to see what she really is. A spoiled little girl that has no clue as to the needs of the country but is like the cheer leader that only roots for her own self esteem. Unbelievable!!!!!

Sarah Palin LOVES to talk "trash" while consistently avoiding sitting down and being interviewed by MAINSTREAM MEDIA.

This is a woman who has been dicking-n- dodging being interviewed by anyone other than FAUX NEWS. That's because she would be ousted for the FRAUD she is.

Anyone can talk "trash" while hiding behind a bunch of Tea Baggers or right-winged conservatives that don't care that you're incompetent and have NO QUALIFICATIONS when it comes to foreign policies and world issues. This is a woman who QUIT her job as Governor because it got TOUGH for her. Sarah Palin CAN NOT handle the tough pressure. She hides her TRUE COLORS and Americans better WAKE UP or be prepared to pay a VERY BIG PRICE!!!

Well said, Mr. Prez. Palin isn't much of an authority on anything actually, except maybe being a sharp dresser or having the most annoying voice in history. And I wish some kid on a playground WOULD punch her in the face.

I listened to Brent Scowcroft praise the President about this treaty signing. The treaty had been in place, but lapsed. I think Palin has no basis for her comments when someone as reputable (and Republican) as Scowcroft praise it. I'm glad the President handled this by saying she has no expertise. It might fan the tea party flames, but will ultimately show their loose screws.
