Gingrich says Palin 'tremendously important'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/04/09/art.gingrich.srlc2.cnn.jpg caption="Gingrich is touting Sarah Palin's role in the Republican Party."](CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, still considered among the most influential members of the Republican Party, is touting Sarah Palin's impact on the GOP and her future in the party.

"Sarah Palin is tremendously important right now, I mean for maybe 40 percent of the country, she personifies courage, clarity," Gingrich told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Both Gingrich and Palin were among the event's featured speakers.

"She's attractive, she's articulate, she has energy," Gingrich continued in the interview set to air Sunday on CNN's State of The Union. "Watch the size of her crowds…And I think whether that translates into something bigger later or whether she's just a very significant person for the rest of her life, she is a real player, nobody should underestimate her."

Gingrich also said Palin's prominence in the Republican Party will continue, regardless of whether she decides to mount a presidential bid in 2012.

"I think she has the potential to fill a niche for a very long time, particularly in an age of cable television and talk radio when you can build your particular market and your audience, and they can love you and come to your meetings and do things with you, and she's done, I think the last couple months she's been very impressive," he said.

But, should Palin decide to launch a presidential campaign, would she be a formidable opponent against President Obama?

"Well, if my choice was Sarah Palin or Barack Obama, I'd rather have Sarah Palin," said Gingrich.

I'd have to say my opinion of Newt has certainly dropped after reading this article. Palin is in no way capable of running this country and her ineptitude is proven pretty much every time she opens her mouth. If the polls are accurate concerning her favorable following in this country, I'd have say we have a long way to go to where people are not sway but emotion but by logic and fact.

Notice his adjectives. If this is the individual to personify and lead the Republican Party, then the Party will get what it asks for.....a quitter diva. It is absolutely astonishing that leaders with intelligence and ideas are allowing this "attractive" but empty woman "play" the party. Good luck with that....we already tried that here. She was a dismal failure. And Gingrich....get real....you can have Sarah.

Now there's a GOP ticket for you: Palin/Gingrich. We Dems would have a great time with that. BTW, the parto of NO–it's like a bunch of childern in their "terrible two-year old" stage. Everything is "no." "I don't wanna." "no." I wish the Repubs would grow up and start acting like adults and start doing some work instead of sitting stubbornly in the corner.

She personifies clarity, courage? Newt where the"H' have you been and what are you going for? Only someone desperate and foolish would call Palin courageous and having the ability to speak with clarity. She is shallow in all areas and only comes out with these cute little sound bites. There is no depth to any part of her experience, ideas, intelligence and true commitment to personal values. She flaps in the wind, which ever way it is blowing at the time. The republican party has got to do a lot better than this, a lot better.

Tremendously important to attract the other shallow, vacuous, winkers to the GOP.

GOP the party that can't read, doesn't care and hates anyone who does care about their country.

"She's attractive, she's articulate, she has energy..." Yeah. I say those qualitites make her just the best dang presidential candidate EVER. What this country needs is a cute, talkative, ADHD president who doesn't have a clue about ... well, anything, but who looks good doin' it. Duh.

OK.........I have left the GOP, b/c they are unreasonable, and borderline mean spirited........I hope they continue on this path they are on.

The more Newt pumps of Sarah Palin the better. I think she will be very bad for the Republican Party. I'm surprised Newt Gingrich doesn't see that.

  15. what?

He is kissing up to her. For sure Palin will not be running for President in 2012 and for sure Newt will. So now he is kissing up to her and in turn will be expecting an endorsement from her for Prez.

I would even roll the dice that he has been strategizing for her what to say, and he might have been writing her statements, speeches, comments all along.

Are you kidding me Newt? Go ahead and run for President and have her as your VP running mate or maybe the other way around and that will surely let Obama win again.

"Sarah Palin is tremendously important right now, I mean for maybe 40 percent of the country, she personifies courage, clarity," she's articulate". Formidable opponent of President Obama?
Harvard vs a journalism degree "she had" and five schools. I wish somebody would spill her grades to the public. Same as with her medical records which she continues to hide.
Is the grinch kidding? Courage? Clarity? Articulate? Forty percent of the country?
Please don't make me laugh. She's a loser and a quitter. When she talks you can't comprehend what the heck she is saying even after you read it time and time again. She can't put two sentences together. No, I take that back, she CAN put two and three and four sentences together and go back and forth until your brain hurts.
What forty percent of the country? You mean those who are as brain dead as she is? This is a woman who has never finished anything she ever started. She has quit every job she has ever had.
This is the best that the repugs can come up with.
Looks can only get you so far and that blue outfit she wore with the hair all in a bun and those pearls. Where did she think she was back in the trailer park?

Over 10,000 people in the most liberal part of Minnesota to see two women in the GOP. Over 10,000 and it is 7 months from the mid-terms. This is unheard of. There were dems, indies, and repubs there to see two women. Two campaign stops for McCain were sold-out. McCain still has not learned that when you campaign with Palin you need to book large venues. . Lots of money raised to help McCain and Bachmann. Sarah Palin has been doing lots of fund raisers at the local lever. You start from the ground-up to make real change. Keep down playing and lying about this woman. Keep putting out your fake poll numbers. The American people are finding out about the lies that were told about this woman. Do you want to know how the American people are finding out about lies told by the corrupt MSM so they could put that Liar In Chief in the WH? They are finding out by people like me, that spread the truth one day at a time and in turn tell others to spread the truth. You catch the drift. America is waking up.

A storm is brewing and will blow through the mid-terms.

by the way, Gingrich and Palin have the same speaking agent, a hollywood agent that gets them hired for events. so obviously they are working as a team to get paid to speak. its all about the money for those two.
