Gingrich says Palin 'tremendously important'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/04/09/art.gingrich.srlc2.cnn.jpg caption="Gingrich is touting Sarah Palin's role in the Republican Party."](CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, still considered among the most influential members of the Republican Party, is touting Sarah Palin's impact on the GOP and her future in the party.

"Sarah Palin is tremendously important right now, I mean for maybe 40 percent of the country, she personifies courage, clarity," Gingrich told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Both Gingrich and Palin were among the event's featured speakers.

"She's attractive, she's articulate, she has energy," Gingrich continued in the interview set to air Sunday on CNN's State of The Union. "Watch the size of her crowds…And I think whether that translates into something bigger later or whether she's just a very significant person for the rest of her life, she is a real player, nobody should underestimate her."

Gingrich also said Palin's prominence in the Republican Party will continue, regardless of whether she decides to mount a presidential bid in 2012.

"I think she has the potential to fill a niche for a very long time, particularly in an age of cable television and talk radio when you can build your particular market and your audience, and they can love you and come to your meetings and do things with you, and she's done, I think the last couple months she's been very impressive," he said.

But, should Palin decide to launch a presidential campaign, would she be a formidable opponent against President Obama?

"Well, if my choice was Sarah Palin or Barack Obama, I'd rather have Sarah Palin," said Gingrich.

Newt describes Sarah Palin as articulate? Ha, ha, ha! Goes to show how desperate the Republicans are. If she weren't an attractive woman, they wouldn't even give her the time of day.

Let's see, the guy who served his wife divorce papers while she was recovering from cancer in the hospital throws his support behind the woman who attended 6 (bad) colleges in 4 years and quit her job as the Governor of Alaska so she could make more money writing (dumb) books and make television shows. What a gaggle of dopes. am I the only one who would love for Palin to run in 2012? It would be a dream come true to watch Palin attempt to debate Obama. It would be like Liberace trying to take on Beethoven.

Wow..... I'm just stunned.... The "Family Values" guy (barf) touting Silly Sarah Queen of Starts.... What's next – an endorsement for Elmo? Do these people really think anyone with a brain, memory and I.Q. higherf than a turnip are the least bit fooled? Where is the media calling these morons out????????????

Sarah's shrill cry.... "take my country back" comes from the same mouth that encouraged the Alaskan Secessionist Party. How I ask you is this the PATRIOT she portrays herself to be. – One minute the cry is to take Alaska out of the country... and the next is to take her country back... Bi-polar anyone????

And she DARES to challenge President Obama on ANYTHING. She states that no Republican President would ever sign a nuclear treaty like the President did....The Republicans have been there – done that! SHE HAS NO CLUE ABOUT HISTORY... (of anything else, for that matter).

    She's a shrew, a shrill and a shill.

He's the same "Family Values" adulterer who went after Bill Clinton.

These two aren't worth President Obama's sweat!!!!

Tell me again why anyone would want a moron to run their country?

Maybe this is why America is heading for the trash can among nations of the world?

I cannot believe that the Republicans continue to hang their hats onto Palin for the future of their party. They seem to be so TOTALLY out of touch. The November elections will tell the tale.

The ONLY reason Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman draw crowds is the same reason people can't help but look at a bad accident on the side of the road. They are nothing but a hate spewing side show. WHat you conservatives fail to realize is that people are tired of listening to all of Plains sound bytes and zinggers and if she was serious about trying to have anything but a half- life in politics she would be talking about HOW she plans to change things. When it comes down to it there is NO way rational sane thinking people will vote this woman for our President, yes she is good entertainment, and I am quite sure she enjoys every penny you poor people that choose to donate your money to her. I myself hope the teabaggers and rebubs keep at it....because they will spilt the votes...keep it up the Dems are loving every second 🙂

Newt you are right ... of course she is attractive ... she has caused a lot of angry, disgruntled, racist white men to sow more seeds than the department of agriculture.
The more she appears, the more they cheer ... The more she crows, the more they sow.
Just check out the way McCain ogles her during their campaigns

Newt is the reason I left the GOP 14 years ago. He's clearly lost his
integrity and is compromising his reputation for his intellect in promoting Sarah Palin. This woman is unqualified to speak to complex issues this nation faces. Period. She is energetic and she
is attractive given the money she now has to spend on keeping her
that way. However,we have a president who is energetic, attractive,
very intelligent, and very, very capable. And Newt is VERY aware of this.

Sarah is a sideshow that continues to keep the GOP in the news.
But when things get really serious I feel most people will continue to see her for what she is. . . one who spouts familiar mean-spirited talking points said by the worst in her party. And she will do it with attractiveness and energy. Republicans, you will continue to lose people like me as long as you promote people like her.

By the way, liberals/Democrats/Independents who don't think she is a strong candidate for anything don't fear her, we just think she poisons the atmosphere and makes it near impossible for good candidates to rise above her noise.

"Sarah Palin is tremendously important right now, I mean for maybe 40 percent of the country, she personifies courage, clarity," Gingrich told CNN"

Ah yes the ever present fool Newt the adulterer sounds off. I will give Palin a probable 15% of the American public on the far right. Beyond that she is thought of as brain-dead, a hypocrit, finding Death Panels where they do not exist, and a blantant liar.

Gosh I hope the Repubs run her for Pres in 2012!.

She went to 6 colleges in 4 years, she's a mental midget, she quit her duties prematurely in Alaska, she's a Conservative!

People, let's not get alarmed. It's simply Newt Gingrich who might as well be considered a termite in Congress. If he is endorsing Sarah Palin, its not showing any intelligence. Besides Newt, and influential person ? Who has he influenced to the point where he can endorse someone like they're a drink ?

Notice Newt's first comment was "She's attractive...." You see, that's the core of her "appeal" within the Republican Party. Is it true she was discovered during a "roadtrip" by the RNC dancing in the Anchorage Crazy Horse Saloon? Neither Newt or Palin have an ounce of appeal outside the extreme right wing. They're both quitters and losers. Why would anyone would accept their message or philosophy? It must be pure embarassment these days for any Republican centrist – I mean who do ya chose to lead you? – Glen Beck? Rush? Palin? McCain? Rove??? A slimy lot all they are!

Truth: Why do you think the current occupant of the WH is the "Liar in Chief?" Which do you think poll numbers do you think are "fake?" What lies have been told about Sarah Palin? Last time I checked, she quit her job as the Governor of Alaska and had become a political pundit. Politics is much easier if you don't have to actually make decisions that affects people's lives.

I've listened to Sarah Palin and she's very good at oversimplifying complex issues and using half-truths to make her talking points. Her arguments can often be very persuasive if you don't take the time to seek out alternative points of view and examine all of the facts.

I would rather have someone in the WH with the intelligence to make difficult, complex decisions (even if I disagree with him/her) than someone who makes decisions based on over-simplistic ideology.

Seriously, is it not telling that Newt's first comment extolling the virtues of Palin is that "She's attractive,..."

If she had Susan Boyle's looks (no offense Susan) certainly not her talent, would she be ANYWHERE in the spotlight?

..."she personifies courage, clarity," Yeah, as in voters! Gingrich doesn't state that in order to make SOME kind of dent in the Democratic party come November, they NEED someone like Palin who goes all out and against everything American to cause an uprising and turmoil in the American voters. Ya gotta light a fire in order the create smoke [and mirrors] is the Relic's way. Sad...Beau Colby
