Kyl calls for job creation
(CNN) - Senate Republican Whip Jon Kyl is pushing his party's plan for job creation in the weekly Republican radio and Internet address.
"We believe the best course is to encourage job creation by private companies," the Arizona senator says. "And the way to do that is to limit intrusion by Washington and to keep taxes at a manageable level."
Full transcript of the remarks after the jump:
“Hello. I’m Senate Republican Whip Jon Kyl of Arizona.
“The effects of the ongoing economic slump have been severe and have touched all Americans. Too many people have lost jobs; others are working reduced hours or for lower pay. The latest report shows that unemployment has stubbornly stayed at just below 10 percent. Nearly four million workers have lost their jobs since President Obama took office.
“The American people have been telling Washington that promoting job growth must be the first priority. But, for more than a year, Congress and the President have focused instead on a controversial health spending bill which a majority of Americans said they didn’t want.
“Recognizing that their $1.2 trillion stimulus has failed and in a frantic, election-year push, Democrats in Congress are labeling every bill they bring up as a ‘jobs’ bill. Most are just more government spending, leading to higher deficits and more debt—and very few jobs.
“Republicans have a better plan. We believe the best course is to encourage job creation by private companies. And the way to do that is to limit intrusion by Washington and to keep taxes at a manageable level.
“The federal government has been growing at an astonishing rate. Just last year, the government borrowed $1.4 trillion! The American economy cannot grow and create good jobs if Washington spending takes more and more resources out of the private economy.
“Second, we must not raise taxes. Under current law, unless Congress acts, taxes will rise dramatically on December 31st. Taxes will increase on families with children, on married couples, on income, on capital gains and dividends, and even after death. It comes to a total of $2 trillion in new taxes over the next 10 years. And that doesn’t include the more than $500 billion in new taxes in the health spending law.
“Since most small businesses pay taxes as individuals, the increase in marginal income tax rates will hit job creators hard. Businesses are reluctant to hire because they are unsure about their future tax costs. Congress and the President should act to prevent the coming tax increase. That would provide job creators with some much needed certainty so they can begin hiring again.
“Unfortunately, Democrats in Congress have yet to say whether they will prevent this massive tax hike. And, they’ve even proposed new taxes like the cap-and-trade bill. Republicans believe we need to act now, in a bipartisan way, to head off these tax increases. That would show job creators and families that it’s safe to invest and save.
“So, these are two Republican ideas: First, reining in Washington spending. Second, keeping taxes at a manageable level. If we do these two things, private businesses and American families will be able to save, invest, and plan for the future.
“Together, we can help put Americans back to work.”

Gov't jobs are unproductive, doing nothing was hardly an option, so here we are. I hope tea party goers are smart enough not to go with the republicans, sadly I expect most will. Confederate history month? Maybe without the racism, but I know the south and that's not how they will take that cue. Maybe we can trade our unemployed collecting checks for Mexicans that want to work. Give them Texas in exchange for beans. Impeach Obama for someone new, anyone I don't care. What is your plan for creating jobs? How soon will the plan go to congress? What kind of jobs will you create for the working class folks of America? How many jobs will enter the market this year? Do you even know anything? Your party has been spewing hatred for the healthcare bill not talking about jobs. You have the Moose hunter from Alaska going across the country making up lies and fabricating policy issues she has no clue of and you keep talking about tax hikes on the wealthy and pushing the agenda of taking back the government, and promoting constant insults of our President. Senator, you and your GOP members have spent two years plus goofing off after eight years Bush presidency of doing nothing but being international bullies and stuffing your pockets with working class americans money. And you sit in your office making statements that you'll never attempt to do. The american citizens that voted for Obama doesn't want the same old Bush tactics. You and your GOP buddies don't have a ground to stand on anymore. Step aside and let the current Administration do their jobs that the 53 million voters hired them to do.

Yeah, sure! The same kind of jobs that the republicans have been creating for years....minimum wage jobs that won't pay a mortgage and living expenses. A lot of good those type of jobs do for our people!
Mr. Kyl, do you think the families of the 29 miners killed this week appreciate less governmental intrusion?
The same old song and dance from the republicans, same old ideas which will lead to the same old failures. How can we take Kyle and the republican ideology seriously when those ideas and ideology lead to the smallest job growth in history under the last administration. We've also seen the biggest growth in income disparity. Does he honestly think that the ideology that landed us where we are today will produce different results the next time around? He must think we're stupid.
Republicans just don't get it. Pushing the same disasterous policies that lead us to the deepest recession in years will produce the same result. That's not progress, that's insanity. We tried it your way, and it's going to take years to recover.
President Obama has done a great job in preventing another crash like the 30"s. I'm proud of him, and our Congress for thinking of the middle class and not the wealthy.
You haven't figured out yet that jobs are not a high priority for this administration? In the past 15 months it has been put on the back-burner for "cash for clunkers", health care, and arms treaty negotiation...all things that could be high priority if we weren't in a recession with 10-14% unemployment figures.
give tax breaks to big business and they use them to buy each other out. When this happens, The first thing they do is cut jobs. Trickle down economics is trickle ON economics for the working class.
Less regulation of companies only leads to more tragedies like the one in the West Virginia coal mine. When will the republicans come up with any new solutions? Trickle down voodoo Reganomics has failed miserably. Think of something new, for goodness sakes, it's 2010, not 1980.
God, I wish we could get rid of this man. His rhetoric is always the same. I want specifics. Exactly how are you going to encourage job growth in small business? Reduce taxes. How are you going to bring new revenues to our state so we can fund our schools again? Reducing taxes won't do it. And, as far as I can tell, there's not much left to cut here in Arizona. So, senator, what is your great Republican plan to help our state. Why don't we cut the pay to our Senators, your partner in crime, John McCain already said the Republicans won't be doing any work the rest of the year, so why should you get paid?

What's stopping you? I expect to see 10 million new jobs created by the Republicans by the end of next week!
The GOP needs to hit these talking points now because the stimulus package projects are just now starting to finish up the bidding process and will start paying out soon. This is going to have a big positive impact on the construction industry which has one of the highest unemployment rates going right now. Once these projects start breaking ground you will see that rate drop and new purchases like equipment and vehicles begin. The stimulus package will work it has just taken some time. These guys know that but hope that fear will get them back in the drivers seat.
I wonder why all the republicans who read every all the stories on democrat ideas or initiatives and then proceed to tear them down with statements such as "radical left" "socialism' and "communism" are not defending this plan.
The job sitiuation is bad but I don't think cutting a future tax will all the sudden increase hiring. Look if business are not able to create jobs with the current tax sturture what makes you think by keepin the taxes the same hiring will increase? Are republicans saying the econnomy is getting better now and these new taxes will hurt? This plan is not inspiring at all. Seriously every solution can not be lower taxes and goverment and everthing will be great. Truth is everytime republicans are in charge spending goes up on the military and defense and rich people get a tax break. The taxes are not lowered for most people and the debt just increases.
If cap and scam goes through we will all suffer from it in spite of what Obama lovers think.
Sen. Kyl's history clearly demonstrates an individual who seeks out the camera any time he can but someone who lacks any real conscience or concern for other than his personal interests. He is and has consistently been a controlled 'puppet' for the Republican Party and the Special Interests that support him. His failure to honestly represent the interests of his constituents is clear and appalling. The deceptive rhetoric he constantly offers is offensive in its assumption that people are easily manipulated. Arizona voters, even as a strong Republican state, could do much better.
It's so sad how many people believe what the retards are selling.If they wanted to get jobs they would have done it when they saw the economy started to go under years ago.People please wake up before Novemeber.We just started to make progress under Prez. Obama.
