Republican likes a Justice Clinton

Washington (CNN) – Hillary Clinton's been a first lady, a senator, a trailblazer for women who aspire to the Oval Office and now the nation's top diplomat. Could a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court be the final stop on a long and successful career?

Well, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, floated the idea Monday when he told NBC's "Today" that she "would be an interesting person in [the Supreme Court] mix."

"I happen to like Hillary Clinton," he said. "I think she's done a good job."

Alas, it doesn't appear to be in the cards right now or so says the White House.

"We appreciate Sen. Hatch's addition," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said. "I think the president has identified in Secretary Clinton a capacity in which he thinks she's doing a wonderful job. The president is going to keep her as his secretary of State."

Late last week, Justice John Paul Stevens announced plans to retire, which will allow President Obama the opportunity to choose a second person to serve on the Court. Last year, Obama picked Judge Sonia Sotomayor to replace retiring Justice David Souter.

So Warren, if you think Hillary Clinton would serve our country better on the Supreme Court rather than POTUS your so wrong. Remember the very slight margin Prez Obama won by. The day for a woman to become POTUS is closer than you think, and please don't put Sara Palin in the same breathe with Hillary Clinton, there is no contest there. Hillary would wipe the floor with Sara Palin. Don't get me wrong, Hillary would make a great justice but not before POTUS. John McCain had it right, choosing a woman as a running mate, unfortunately for John he chose Sara Nobody to be that woman.

Okay. That would be great. Especially if Colin Powell were willing to be sec of State. I bet he would enjoy have a Prez who would actually listen

I think she'd be a solid pick if she were 10 years younger. She's already in her 60s and any Supreme Court pick should be in their late 40s to mid or late 50s. Cards just aren't there for you Hillary. Though she's doing a good job at State

"The president is going to keep her as his secretary of State."

If you all had some decency and wisdom, she should be the US President in 2012. Too bad she was not in 2008. A Clinton would know better what to do about the economy instead of just playing cards.

Hillary would be an excellent choice for the Supreme Court. She's intelligent, articulate, and very well qualified to fill Justice Stevens' spot.

I'm hoping against hope that the position of a Supreme Court Justice will be offered to Hillary Clinton, who is more deserving of this honor?
I doubt that she will run for the presidency and she might be a wonderful asset to our Supreme Court ...... Now I'll be willing to bet that Obama will never even give her a chance, even if all the American people begged for her --
Please give this to Mike Huckabee or Mitt Romney, perhaps they can get some action started in Washington !!!!! God Bless America !!!!

Yeah, she's better as Sec. of State. She can presently establish policy but not law. We have enough Justices dictating law from the bench, we don't want Hillarious Clinton to do it too. The sad part is that as Secretary of State she can run for President, but I don't think she will try against Mr. Obama...So keep her where she is, keep her quiet. I've NEVER liked her!

I like Clinton as a candidate for the SC Justice as well. I think she would bring a fresh perspective to the team. I also support the decision to maintain her role as S of S. She is doing an outstanding job. The international issues we face right now are grave, and as much as I like the thought of her taking a seat on the highest court, I think we need her where she is. Perhaps if we get some serious momentum in nuclear arms control and global warming another oppportunity may come later for her to take a seat on the court.

It's probably the best choice for the republican party for 3 reasons. First, she understands the law and has proven she can listen with an open mind instead of a being a strict ideologue. Second, the democrats would have to approve her. And finally the third reason. The republicans wouldn't have to worry about her running for president in the future.

Hillary would probably make a great Supreme Court Justice, however, I cannot picture republicans voting for her confirmation. Mr. Hatch must be drinking some funny kool-aid!

The only thing more ridiculous than this, is the notion that Napalitano would make a good judge. Cripes! Where do they find these ideas?

She would be great. She is the type of professional who can kick butt and convince others on the court to think her way.

Don't let her leave State. Once she leaves the Obama administration, all sanity goes with her (and even that isn't much).

only Orrin Hatch, who believed tax-cheat Tim Geithner had repented and was a suitable choice for Treasury Secretary, would also think Hillary Clinton of questionable ethics regarding Whitewater/Rose Law Firm fame (just to name of few) is a suitable choice for Supreme Court.

    what is Orrin smoking?!

I still like the idea of President Hillary Clinton.
