Republican likes a Justice Clinton

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/04/12/art.hrcscotus0412.gi.jpg caption="A Republican senator suggested Tuesday that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton might make a good Supreme Court justice."]
Washington (CNN) – Hillary Clinton's been a first lady, a senator, a trailblazer for women who aspire to the Oval Office and now the nation's top diplomat. Could a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court be the final stop on a long and successful career?

Well, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, floated the idea Monday when he told NBC's "Today" that she "would be an interesting person in [the Supreme Court] mix."

"I happen to like Hillary Clinton," he said. "I think she's done a good job."

Alas, it doesn't appear to be in the cards right now or so says the White House.

"We appreciate Sen. Hatch's addition," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said. "I think the president has identified in Secretary Clinton a capacity in which he thinks she's doing a wonderful job. The president is going to keep her as his secretary of State."

Late last week, Justice John Paul Stevens announced plans to retire, which will allow President Obama the opportunity to choose a second person to serve on the Court. Last year, Obama picked Judge Sonia Sotomayor to replace retiring Justice David Souter.

Although I think Hillary would make a great Supreme Court Justice, I believe she and/or President Obama would not consider her for that position due to her success as Secretary of State along with the fact that I believe is still interested in running for President again in six years, and accepted the position on the High Court would end that aspiration.

If she would recant her anti-gay platform she expressed while campaigning......I would love it if she were on the court!!!!

I'd love to see her on the bench. But she's too polarizing to be confirmed.

My guess is that she wouldn't take it. She still wants to be president. If she doesn't get the democratic nomination in 2016, then she might accept a SCOTUS seat.

Hatch has surprised me, like him, I'm conservative and too think that Secretary Clinton would indeed make a great supreme court justice. This would be the first time, I think, that the one appointed is someone well known by the general public. Go Hillary!

Every one knows the repubs DO NOT like Hillary. This was just a ploy to make an attempt to make extra sure that Hill is NOT the Presidents choice.

So CNN, when will you be reporting the airing of Tea Party candidate Carl Palladino's racist, bigoted e-mails? Maybe you can get in some real news before the end of the day.

Maybe the committee could finally find out about the Rose law firm records and about that guy who killed himself rather than be questioned about the Clintons.

NOOOO! She is the Dems strongest candidate to follow Obama for the presidency & the Repubs know it. They would love to see her get a lifetime appt. to the court, then she's out of the way come election season. Lets go from our first black pres. to our first woman pres! CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT 2016!

DUH.. It will keep her from being President in 2016 as she tramples Sarah "I QUIT" Palin by a margin of 85% of the vote to 1% for Sarah!

Actually I'd prefer to see Bill as a Justice Or better yet, Obama resigning as President and installing himself as a Justice and Biden finishing the job..

Hillary Clinton is GREAT at any job she has. She is a great example for women all over the world. She is smart, fair, hard working, good looking, well liked by anyone who gets to meet her and a great human being.

Now THAT would get the Ideologues foaming at the mouth... The Right would go insane, and the Left would probably cheer... The rest of us can see it, but I imagine that the rest of the Republican Party would have a collective seizure.

Whatever Secretary Clinton does will always be in the best interests of the United States citizenry. Her intellect, professionalism and experience dramatically overshadows the Orrin Hatch's of the world. When asked if she was qualified, Orrin wimped out with a gutless, non-judgemental nothing answer. ..... so, what else is new?

If i would have known what i know now i would wish for her to be the democratic pick for president. There is no way she could be worse than obama. But now the only worse thing would be him followed by her! I say whatever job you can dream up for her that keeps her and her husband away from the white house has my vote!

Hatch is baiting Obama because he knows that Senators Inofe and Demint would filibuster Clinton. Demint is still looking for Obama's Waterloo and Hatch is setting up Obama for a fall.

If she isn't elected President, which I feel would be the BEST thing for this country, then I think it'd be absolutely fantastic, seeing her on the Supreme Court. She is such a talented lady, that to not use her gifts would be a shame.
