DNC plans major spending on midterm elections

Washington (CNN) - The Democratic National Committee says it will pump more than $50 million into this November's crucial midterm elections, a top Democratic source confirms to CNN.

The money and other services will be worked out by the White House and congressional Democrats and will be spent on Senate, House and governors races later this year.

Democrats made major electoral gains in the 2006 and 2008 contests and now have the tough task of defending their large majorities in Congress and their narrow advantage in controlling the governorships. All 435 House seats, 36 senate seats, and 37 governors offices are up for grabs this November.

Much of the DNC's efforts will come from staffers and volunteers that Organizing For America has in the states. OFA, which is part of the party committee, was transformed from Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign.

The Democratic official spoke to CNN on background because the party has not formally announced its midterm spending plans. The story was first reported by Politico.
The DNC says raised at least $13 million in March, topping the Republican National Committee's $11.4 million haul.

President Obama helped the DNC raise $2.5 million at two fundraising events last night in Miami, according the a Democratic source. Monday Obama is the main attraction at two joint fundraisers in Los Angeles for the DNC and for fellow Democrat Barbara Boxer.

It appears the coordination this year between the DNC and the party's House and Senate re-election committees will be smoother than in 2006, when there was friction between the DNC - which at the time was led by former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean - and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, then steered by former Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois.

The DNC gets their money from special interest groups to advance a radical agenda. The democrats should be institutionalized.

Good, they had better get out there and fight these psychos who are trying to overthrow the Democratic Party. There are so many lies being disseminated throughout this country, scaring people into thinking our President is hurting this Country when he and our Democrat-controlled Congress has helped the American people tremendously this past year and half. We need these Dems. back in office and the DNC better fight and use every tactic at their disposal to make it happen. Refute the lies, rebut the rumors and innuendo that Fox Nose is spilling every day, 24/7. It's disgusting. The Republicans only know how to win with their dirty tricks and lying ads attacking the Dems. You have to fight dirty with these guys, they don't know how to be honest and tell the truth.

Too bad they just don't write out a check for this amount and send it to the treasury to help pay down the nation's debt. This would be a better way to spend their money.

The Democrats need to use every means possible to expose the lies, distortions, fear mongering and hypocrasy of the republican party.
They need to point out all the obstruction, the lack of concern by
the republicans for the survival of our country and us. Voters need
to remember that the previous leadership almost destroyed our
country, although never acknowledging or admitting to their horrendous mistakes.
The republicans are well on their way to becoming our country's most dangerous domestic terrorists, sacrificing everything for their personal gains, unAmerican goals, power and greed.

While the DNC raises money, I'll be sending all my donations to the democrat challenging Michelle Bachmann. I want to see her evil self in the unemployment line 11/5/10.

On top of that CNN, where's the story about Rep. Bobby Scott almost getting arrested supposedly behind a case of "mistaken identity."

What happened to Allee Butsch is what you support when you vote Democrat.

Notice CNN is not talking about the left wingers who attacked the conservatives in New Orleans, but had this been a conservative who did this to an Obama supporter, ha FRONT PAGE NY TIMES AND AT LEAST 5 ARTICLES ABOUT IT HERE AT CNN.COM!

See them for who they really are, that's all I ask.

Money alone will not do the job. American people are tired of all the spending by this administration. Little has been done to provide private sector jobs, and much to increase the size of government. The grassroots movement (Tea Party) is like the grass-root movement that put Obama in office, the difference is this one will remove him and long term , never ending politicians that have forgotten why they were sent to Washington. The power of the voting booth is greater that money, unless you use the money to supply people like ACRON and Move On to buy votes!

I have an idea, if the President want to really stimulate the economy with the middle class, the class that he supposedly cares about, then sy doesn't the government pay off our mortgages and our 2nd? Talk about stimulating the economy!!!! I then could afford to purchase a new car or two, and purchase other large items. Come on think about it Mr. President show us that you really care about us. I don't think you do.

Good. I know they'll be getting donations as much as I can afford. The last thing the nation needs is any of those nutty right wingers getting into office and derailing the fabulous progress we have enjoyed in the past 15 months.

DNC should point to the Dow Jones Average to show that investors worldwide believe in Obama . The DJ is up 38% since he took office on January 20,2009.
The ignoramuses in the Tea Party are screaming "Socialism" while real people show their confidence in American capitalism by investing real money.
Do the Tea Partyers understand that capitalsim is the opposite of socialism.? .

Won't help. Demorats are so screwed for the upcoming election. But again, that is what they have been doing to this country since they took power in both houses of congress and nobamby just made it worse. I expect he will be gone in 2012.

The Democrats are going to need a LOT more than $50 million trying to defend/win any seats---when it is clear that the MAJORITY in the country---Republicans/Independents and even moderate Dems---are just counting down the days until the elections---so that they can make sure that the Democratic Party loses all power/control in Washington and throughout the country.

It's never been a secret that the GOP incited their core group of racists for political and monetary gain.

By voting out those that instigated, applauded, and condoned this behavor, we will be sending a very loud, and a very clear message:

Racism is no longer tolerated in *real* America.

    Keep doing the people's business, Dems . . .
