Cheney reflects on 'f**k' yourself comment

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/02/22/art.cheneycpac0222.gi.jpg caption="Former Vice President Dick Cheney told Dennis Miller Thursday that telling Sen. Patrick Leahy to ‘f**k’ himself was ‘sort of the best thing I ever did.’"](CNN) – Democrats were gleeful in 2004 when former Vice President Dick Cheney on the Senate floor told a senior lawmaker to "f**k" himself – a gesture, they thought, that was emblematic of Cheney's hard-heartedness.

Six years later, Cheney is looking back on that moment with pride.

"You'd be surprised how many people liked that," Cheney told conservative comedian and radio host Dennis Miller Thursday. "That's sort of the best thing I ever did."

Audio of the comments were posted on the liberal Web site Think Progress.

Cheney aimed the choice words at Sen. Patrick Leahy, now the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, in June 2004. Cheney was upset with Leahy's criticism of Iraq contracting deals that the Bush administration had awarded to Halliburton, the company Cheney used to head.

Senate rules prohibit senators from using "unbecoming" language on the Senate floor when the body is in session, but makes no mention of whether the vice president is permitted to make foul remarks.

Cheney was an old-school thug. so much for the decorum and camaraderie of the senate chamber. You think Reagan would have tolerated this? No way. He never fessed up to outing Valerie Plame or what/who went to his top secret energy task force meetings where Big Oil divvied up Iraq... have a nice retirement, Dick!

Here is a man who has made enormous sums of money by sacrificing the lives of Americans. It is not suprising that his true personality came to the surface when someone called him on his association with Haliburton.
Cheney is a war criminal and should be on trial for his own life for spilling the blood of Americans to ensure profits for Haliburton and other U.S. based multinational corporations.

Unless hell really exists, there's no way for this guy to get payback for what he's done in his life.

You could expect nothing less from Cheney. His uncultured persona has been well established and it takes a real man to apologise when he knows he has violated an ethics rule in the most egregious manner.Mr. Cheney could never be accuses of being a " big man "
or even a man you could ever look up to as symbol of American kindness or decency. What a role model for our society Chaney is, no wonder respect and civility has been left out of our every day lives with morons like Chaney displaying his arrogance with no regrets.

    Wow... where to start?

First, Cheney is absolutely correct. That's probably best thing he ever did while in office. That just goes to show how bad everything else was.

And Senate standards state that senators must not use 'unbecoming' language? As for the way Cheney treated the vice presidency, I'd say that dropping an F-bomb on the Senate floor is actually quite becoming of his position at the time.

Then again, maybe it's something in the VP's office that's causing this – after all, Biden apparently likes that word a lot too.

Wow, I did not know that. I wonder if there was much fuss about Cheney telling a co-worker to go "F**k himself" the way it was toward Biden using the F word towards something non-human. Well, I didn't see it so I guess that answers my question.

In any case, after reading this, I get and I take GREAT PRIDE in the citizen that gave him a taste of his own vile medicine during his interview/photo op after Katrina.

"Tricky Dick II" be surprised at how many MORE people liked that!

Actually, Mr. Cheney, that actually sums -up your whole life and yes, the country could not expect anything better out of you.

We go through life to try to make ourselves better. You stepped off that train a long time ago and unfortunately many people want to follow your invitation to emulate you. This is not a sad "turn of events", it's an informative turn of events that the voters need to be mindful of when they go inside the voting booths to elect officials. It almost goes without saying, if that's the best that Republicans, in general, can do, then it's time Democratic again.

This man who was V.P. Of The United States Of America is proud of using this word in public towards another elected official. He is suppose to set an example. What kind of example is this for our young people????????

Dick Cheney is a monster. He should be charged and tried for war crimes and for violating the Law for instructing us personnel to torture prisoners. he is the example of how arrogant and dangerous we can become. His sense of exceptionalism is what will turn the world against us.

Aside from the obvious humor in gutter language, just who was on the right side of that argument? Contractors, or Senator Leahy? Cheney or Leahy? The American people or Cheney?

    Cheney is absolutely right!!!!!!!!!

Telling someone to fxxk himself IS THE BEST THING THAT CHENEY EVER DID! I cannot think of one other thing that Cheney can be proud of. The man is the leader of the right-wing extremists, a total fool, and a blantant liar.

Dick Cheney really lives up to his name. Well, the first name specifically.

  19. Save America, impeach the treasonous republicans

Cheney is finally being honest when he says that the "F" bomb is the best thing he ever did. I beats his unnecessary war, torture, no bid contracts, wire tapping citizens, expanding government, tax cuts for the wealthy, shooting people in the face, closed meeting with the petroleum industry, unfunded government programs, bank bail outs, and a host of other things.

A former elected official feels that this type language is just fine and I guess that's the image he wan't to be remembered by. What an example he sets.

Mr. Cheney, inttligence and anger management are not your strong points.
