FAQ: Wall Street reform bill

Washington (CNNMoney.com) - Senate Democrats want to bring a Wall Street reform bill to the floor as soon as Monday.

But, as of now, Republicans say they oppose debate until a bipartisan compromise is reached. And, unless one Republican joins the 59 Senate Democrats in voting to begin debate, it won't happen.

When last have you seen the Republicans showing any willingness to work with the Democrats. By their actions anyone would believe that that they hold the Majority in the House and Senate. Piss off.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines the word "ferninster" as "someone who is deliberately contrary". The example of usage given is from William Allen White, 1943: "The trouble with the Republican leaders in Congress is that they are just ferninsters." The more things change the more they stay the same!

A True American wrote this pack of lies: "...You never “Bowed” to any foreign leaders and never ran around apologizing for America being number 1. You got us through 911, Hurricane Katrina, the California wild fires, the Florida Hurricanes and still kept the national dept three times lower than it is now."

Big lie #1: Obama never bowed to anyone or apologized to anyone for America. That lie is akin to the "death panel" lie. It is a fabrication made out of whole cloth.

Big lie #2: George Bush, in response to 9/11, invaded the wrong nation (first time in human history that a leader has been so incompetent), wasted thousands of American lives for no reason, and left the situation in Iraq a mess for Obama to clean up.

Big lie #3: If you are proud of the Bush Administration's performance during and after Katrina then you are insane. Is there anyone out there from New Orleans who wants to comment on this?

Big lie #4: Bush added $5.5 TRILLION DOLLARS to the national debt (google it). He overspent by more dollars than any leader in the history of mankind. In second place is his father, George Bush Sr ($1.5 Trillion in 4 years). In third place is Ronald Reagan ($1.5 trillion in 8 years. The last president to reduce the national debt was Clinton. The last president to balance the budget was Truman.

Now I wonder ... do you actually believe what you said (are you that ignorant)? Or, are you consciously lying?

Chris Dodd, the man who shares the responsiblity for our current crisis, in charge of financial reform????? I hope the Republicans keep saying no to this.

Well if the Democrats would sit down and talk and debate instead of brushing off any suggestions everytime someone offers them, then there will never be working together, the Dems and Obama always make it seem like the Republicans are always saying no and not offering anything, and that is a blatant LIE, we have seen it on TV for ourselves with the Healthcare. Democrats only want to push through what will benefit them, not the people.

The GOP will block any bill that will protect the Average American from financial ruin. They want to go back hundreds of years to the days of Kings and Servants. Capitalism must be stopped, vote these CLOWNS out.

You want capitalism stopped, move to France.

"Republicans say they oppose debate until a bipartisan compromise is reached"

Republicans, once again, putting politics above the welfare of Americans! Isn't the whole purpose of "debate" to TRY to reach "compromise" ??? There is just nothing good or honest about the Republican party anymore . . . . absolutely not ONE THING!

    Republican proposals.

Health Care Reform consited of paying your doctor with chickens. He uses electricity to fry the chickens and give part of it to the Power Company and deposits the remainder in his checking account.

Wall Street Reform consist of several things of which I am not familiar but Republicans still aren't satisfied that it is as THEY want it to be so they go back and check with the Wall Street Lobbyist to make sure they get it like Wall Street wants it.

A true American really has his head on backward. If it weren't for G Bush, people would not have lost jobs, homes ,pride and dignity. Obviously this person was either wealthy or was lucky enough to not have the bottom fall out of his life. Most of us ,family people were doing our job, raising our families. going to work every day, paying our taxes and just generally having a decent living. Our neat little family lost jobs, savings and are just barely hanging on. Don't EVER give Bush credit for what we had that we lost while he was in office. It was only our individual strength that got us through his years, it surely wasn't Bush.

Why is always we are for something, but not this particular something? They offer little more than not now or not this.

Look, I'm not saying let's just throw whatever at the problem. But let's start actually offering substantial options instead of less than objective views on why this won't work.

"Interestingly enough when polls go against against Dems, they tend to question the validity of the polls and then state "How can 1000 people speak for the nation"! Well here is a poll that favors the Dems and I now ask, how can 1000 people speak for the nation? Nobody polled me! The majority was ignored during the healthcare debates, I see no reason not to ignore the majority one more time!"

Nice try pal, but let's just set the record straight as to who really does the complaining about the methodology underlying polls. Two words: "liberal media." You can tack on the unsaid thidd word too if you'd like since it's really the subtext you guys are going for: "conspiracy."

Another example of the GOPer/conservative "mirror image accusation" strategery...i.e., "if we're doing it, accuse them of doing it to distract from what we're doing." Nice try pal, but let's just set the record straight as to who really does the complaining about the methodology underlying polls. Two words: "liberal media." You can tack on the unsaid thidd word too if you'd like since it's really the subtext you guys are going for: "conspiracy."

I have a much better understanding now of why our kids do so poorly in math. Even our members of the Senate that have been around for centuries think that a majority is 50 plus 10 and not 50 plus 1. With those kinds of math skills I see also why our nations debt is so screwed up, that along with the fact that Bush's math was that it didn't count if it was not in the budget like the 2 wars and the Medicare Prescription Program that was passed and put into law without any way to pay for it.

I say bring it up for a vote to start debate. If the Republicans vote against it then use it against them at the midterms. Make sure that we get video of them saying no again.

Unfortunately this is another bad policy trying to shoved through. Health Care was a great idea done extremely poorly. This is a great idea that is being constructed by morons who have no idea what they are looking at. It is better to do nothing...

I hope the media keeps on telling the GOP they are going to win in November, thereby raising expectations for them and inducing complacency for those still dumb enough to support them.

B/c this is just disgusting what they are doing. Wall Street needs to be put on a tight leash like they were after the screwed us in 1929. It is clear to anybody that's been alive over the past 3 years that they can't police themselves. It's time to hold the accountable.

Dems, bring in the cameras like you did during the healthcare summit and be ready to make sure everybody in America knows post-GOP filibuster that they stand with Wall Street and not Main Street.

    Mr. A True American,

You forgot one crucial point in your pointless blog. You forgot to thank your hero George 'Worthless' Bush for sending our men and woman to war. If your such a true American then grab your sack and go and take one of our soldiers place so that they can be with their family.

As far as I know Katrina victims are still suffering. The gulf has not been totally rebuilt.

Who took the office of the President with a surplus?
What President held the hand of a Saudi King?

    Mr. A True American,

Stick to what you know which is most likely watching paint dry because politics is not your cup of tea.
