Florida GOP auctions Crist painting on eBay

Washington (CNN) - The Republican Party of Florida has followed through on its promise to auction off an oil painting of Gov. Charlie Crist, who bolted from the party last week to run for Senate as an independent.
The state party took to eBay Monday afternoon to sell off the framed portrait under the banner "Help the Republican Party of FL Get Our Money Back!"
The eBay product listing, which describes the subject as "Untrustworthy, Self-Serving Politician," drips heavily with sarcasm and outright disdain for the first-term governor.
"Canvas is naturally sensitive to changes of temperature and humidity, just as the Charlie Crist's political convictions are subject to fluctuations in poll numbers," reads one mock disclaimer on the auction page.
Or this: "Ornate gold frame made of manufactured wood, similar to the fabricated conservative values of the politician depicted within."
The framed portrait was commissioned by former Florida GOP chairman Jim Greer, a Crist ally who was forced out of his post earlier this year by conservative activists furious with the party's freewheeling spending habits.
The party, now helmed by state Sen. John Thrasher, said Greer also tapped into donor money to pay for a similar portrait of himself. A Florida GOP spokeswoman said the party spent $7,500 on the two paintings.
"This would be one of many examples of lavish and excessive spending on the backs of RPOF donors that occurred during the Crist/Greer administration at the RPOF," party spokeswoman Katie Gordon Betta told CNN.
Bidding ends on May 10.

Charlie Crist will win and become Senator
It is very simple
On election day – if the democratic candidate Kendrick Meek is not going to win – and he has a lot of ground to make up to be competitive – many, many democrats will vote for Crist so as to not have Marco Rubio become the Tea Party Senator from Florida.
Crist will win and he will remember exactly who it was that sent him to the Senate.

Y'all act like a bunch of spoiled two year-old brats. A lot of Democrats were not thrilled when Joe Lieberman decided to run as an independent against Ned Lamont, but they didn't treat him like this. A lot of us moderates just wish you conservatives would grow up and quit acting like babies.

But the Florida GOP will keep their painting of former congressman Mark Foley.
This is a little extreme and very vindictive. This petty action is indicative of the belittlement that Republicans can and will crouch to. Petty in nature and cruel in intent. Isn't this the Governor that was able to save some wetlands? That alone is amazing. By the number of Confederate flags I counted driving from Seabring, Florida to the northern Florida border, I am amazed that this moderate ever got elected.
The FL GOP has almost destroyed the state, and are hoping that Rubio can complete the job in Washington.
All they prove with this behavior are things we already suspect about the Republican Party (aka G.O.P) They are quite petty and childish with this type of behavior. But I expect nothing less.

They should have simply spray painted a “X” on the painting and sent it to him. They’re hypocritical and will do ANYTHING for a buck.
