Kaine: Kagan is a trailblazer

Washington (CNN) - Tim Kaine, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee and the former Virginia governor, issued a statement about the nomination of Elena Kagan.

Kaine said in part, “Elena Kagan is a trailblazer. Throughout her career as Solicitor General, the Dean of Harvard Law School, Associate Counsel and Deputy Assistant to President Clinton, and clerk for Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall – Kagan has impressed all who have encountered her with her legal acumen and her ability to build consensus on important and sometimes contentious issues of law and policy. She has a demonstrated history of listening to all sides of an argument and considering all viewpoints, something that will serve her well as a Supreme Court justice.

“Elena Kagan has demonstrated excellence in her study and application of the law, and a commitment to public service. And in her many different positions, she has focused on advancing opportunity and combating injustice in keeping with the Constitution and the laws of the United States. In selecting Kagan to serve as the first female Solicitor General in American history, President Obama knew she would serve America with integrity and tenacity. Over the last year, she has exceeded even those expectations and has worked hard to represent the best interests of the American people before the Supreme Court – I have full faith that she would continue to do so as a member of that body.

“It’s also important to note that the confirmation of Solicitor General Kagan would bring the number of women on the Supreme Court to an unprecedented three – the most ever – and it would ensure that every American who comes before the Court receives a thorough hearing, a thoughtful response, and a full measure of justice."

Mr. Kaine drinks the Democrat Kool-Aid. This woman is dangerous to America's moral fiber – or lack thereof these days under the Barack Obama Administration. Where we once had a culture of life in this nation, we now have a culture of moral laxity and complacency towards human life. I cry for our country and what she once stood for.

Kane is a creep. She has tried six cases in her career. That kind of rhetoric fits in perfectly though with this corrupt, lying, racist, slimy administration that the unions foisted on the hard working people of this country.

Should not matter if she is a woman, Jewish of gay (?) what matters is if she will follow the Constitution and not just rubberstamp and Admins policies based on party.

Hopefully, she will stay focused on upholding the Constitution and the laws of our country as Chairman Tim Kaine states she has done and follows the Law regardless of her personal political view and her view of others.

    Wow, shocker of shockers!

A man who's never held a real job in his life, nominating a woman who's never been even a lowly county judge to the supreme court.

Apparantly, resumes and real life work experience are for suckers.

This President is fulfilling the natural expectation that the Supreme Court look like America ... 50% of which are female.

By raising the number of women to 3 for the FIRST TIME in history, Barack Obama has served notice that he will promote equality among the sexes.

Afterall, this is a President whose 1st law was the Lilly Ledbetter act the guarantee equal pay for women in the workplace. He has walked the talk like a BIG DOG.

Oh great! An academic that has never been a judge!! We put an inexperienced community organizer as President and now the same ZERO EXPERIENCE BS is being used to put people into LIFETIME positions on the highest court in the land.

But don't worry! Odummie will maintain the quotas on the USSC. No experience necessary!

Lewis and Clark were trail blazers too! I guess they have next! If she is the best qualified, fine. if we are on a "let's make history" kick for the sake of making history, not fine!

Apparently you Repukelicans forget when George Bush nominated Harriet Miers. What was it he said – I know her soul? You conservative rightwing nuts had your chance at the supreme court and we have that wackjob Alito forever. Thanks a lot.

Obama wants people on the court that actually give a crap about the Constitution, rather than how big business can be benefitted.

Do us all a favor – crawl back under your rocks.

You haters are just disgusting. The President has done more positive things in less than two years than your guy did in eight. The damage done by your party has NOT and will NOT be forgotten. Your ignorance shows daily with your hateful posts. No wonder people are leaving the gop in droves! Memo to the right wing: YOU LOST-GET OVER IT ALREADY!!
