Pals from student days remember a determined Elena Kagan

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/05/11/art.bokaganclap0511.gi.jpg caption="Elena Kagan's friends are recalling their experiences with Obama's high court nominee."](CNN) - In the Hunter College High School yearbook of 1977, Elena Kagan is pictured in a judge's robe and holding a gavel.

Next to the photo is a quote from former Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter that says, "Government is itself an art ... one of the subtlest of arts."

Now Kagan herself is a candidate to join the nation's highest court.

Friends from her past say the 50-year-old Kagan's successful career and possible lifetime Supreme Court appointment came as no surprise.

After learning more about this nominee, I find her completely unqualified for the Supreme Court nomination and Obama knows it. They are pals and I'm sure she has disclosed her real views to him and that is why she was picked. She knows nothing about how or what the people need only what she thinks they need. Her hero being Thurgood Marshall says it all! She will try to re-write the constitution instead of defending it. That's Obamas plan!

Just don't ask her to protect the constitution, She's not even interested in protecting the United States. This is the second idiotic nominee by our sorry excuse of a president. I can't wait until these spoiled brats are out of office and adults take over.

I would say this woman is overqualified for the job. What a brilliant education and experiences she has. Some of you senators who have said negative things about her, please stop it right there and do not waste our time. Confirm her as fast as you can.Just focus on financial reform, job creation, and cleaning the oil spill problem.

It seems those who have negative attitude on Elena Kagan, are just putting big lens on her views and not her background. According to what I have read about her, she has a very sounding and constructive background.

Listing to NPR yesterday, several callers havd already been programmed with the lies "The Surpreme Court rejected her arguement as incompetent" in the Harvard anti-discrimination / Military recruiter DADT case. The truth is that she merely lost the case (that had been upheld by 2 lower courts) and that she was one of many authors of the brief.

The right-wing thought controllers are also attempting to use this to brand her as "Left Wing" and "Anti-Military", when her history shows she is anything but (not that those are bad thingsto be...).

Hold on to your hats, folks. You are about to see new depths of lies, hate, and right-wing slobber on this one. Limbaugh will lie, Beck will cry and the Tea Party Brown Shirts will wail that Socialism is nigh. (sigh).

Oh please, who cares. Now everyone is praising this woman in order to convince us all that she is the perfect choice for the Supreme Court, yet the woman has no experience in the courtroom nor as a practicing attorney. There is no record of her Legal Opinions so how do we know where she stands with the Constitution and the Laws of our country???? I don't want a Supreme Court Judge that draws decisions based on personal feelings, likes and dislikes.

Someone explain why choose a person who is not a Judge, has no courtroom experience, not even a practicing attorney in courts when we have so many excellent judges throughout the country and excellent court practicing attorneys?????

With the decisions of the Supreme Court, favoring big business over the American people, we need new blood. We need somone who has not played the games for years, been part of the good ole boy system, who knows how to correctly interpret our constitution.
Kagan will be a welcome change.

She has no judicial experience and is therefore not qualified for the job.

let's see...no experience as a judge..however, Harvard Review experience..about the same time frame as Obama...politically motivated, not in the law, but in serving Obama for giving her an undeserving position. This is all about his ego, and trying to spread socialism (as Kagan wrote in her senior thesis...) she dislikes the military...is a fan of Obama...socialistic tendencies...yep, she'll fit right into the plan to further break the back of the country our forefathers created for us. Elections really have consequences, and Obama is making the country regret it on a daily basis.
