Palin to endorse Haley for gov., make first trip to S.C.

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Sarah Palin will be in South Carolina Friday to campaign for state Rep. Nikki Haley."](CNN) - Sarah Palin will be in Columbia, South Carolina on Friday to endorse state Rep. Nikki Haley for governor.

This will mark the former Alaska governor's first political visit to the early primary state. Jenny Sanford, ex-wife of current Republican Gov. Mark Sanford, will also campaign with Haley on Friday.

Gov. Sanford is term-limited and will leave office in January.

Haley is locked in a four-way Republican primary against Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, state Attorney General Henry McMaster and U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett.

"It is a tremendous honor to receive Governor Palin's endorsement," Haley said Thursday in a statement. "Sarah Palin has energized the conservative movement like few others in our generation."

Palin's endorsement of Haley puts her at odds with her running mate in the 2008 presidential election, Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona.

McCain has backed McMaster in the primary. McMaster chaired McCain's South Carolina campaign in 2008.

Nikki Haley lies about the way she voted in the legislature on the campaign trail but the record shows she did not vote the way she claims.

I did have some respect for Jenny Sanford until she began to work for her.

After 40 years as a Republican, Palin is just one of the reasons I'll never vote for a Republican again.

I don't get why Sarah Palin is going around the country endorsing various candidates for office. What connection has she with these various states that makes her word important to its voters? If it takes an endorsement from her for you to win then I don't think you are probably qualified for the position.. If I were running for office, I would consider her in- put to be the "kiss of death".. I personally would not vote for anyone that she backed.

You're going for public office using Nikki instead of Nicole? Really? Nikki belongs at the poling place, not the polling place.

This is GREAT news! Nikki Haley is without question the best gubernatorial candidate in South Carolina, and unfortunately an underdog, so the increased attention will be helpful. Palin is not my pick for president but she sure got this one right!

Endorsed by Palin? Why is this under-educated fool who can barely pronounce her native language worthy of endorsing anything beyond disposable diapers?

Stop calling her governor. She isn't and didn't even complete her term. Instead, please call her quitter or hypocrite. Those terms are empirically accurate.

Palin's trying to distance herself from McCain knowing she made a fool of him and now she's on the hunt for the next fool. and S.C. might be a good place to start.

For people who think, Palin is the kiss of death. Unfortunately, there are many people out there are ideologues and don't think. Palin is a good example of that.
