Michael Steele, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, issued the following statement about the Pennsylvania Senate race.
(read the full statement after the jump)
“Arlen Specter’s defeat tonight is yet another blow to President Obama and his vaunted political operation. Like fellow Democrats before him, Arlen Specter’s loss should strike fear in the hearts of Congressional Democrats who choose to embrace the President’s reckless liberal agenda despite the clear objections of their constituents because they thought the White House could bail them out.“Now as he attempts to introduce himself to general election voters, Joe Sestak will have to bear the tremendous weight of having supported President Obama’s failed $862 billion stimulus and a massive government takeover of health care. Time after time, Joe Sestak has been a reliable vote for his Democrat bosses in Congress while his constituents at home are left without a voice.
“Pennsylvanians are seeking a candidate who will work on their behalf to restore fiscal discipline and create jobs. Republican nominee Pat Toomey has spent much of the past year speaking directly to Pennsylvanians about the core economic issues near and dear to their hearts. When voters head to the polls this November, they will have a clear choice between someone who abetted the reckless spending in Washington and a candidate willing to stand up against it.”
Mr. Steel ! Please although you are entitled to your own opinion, which function do you belong to? the Tea baggers or the Republican Party! or they are one and the same?. Its good to see how affirmative actions works for some but not all!
steele, I said it before and I say it again, your are a complete arse h..e and keep on dreaming because that CONservative Tmey aint gona make it, he is just as corrupted as you are........you talking about reckless spending??????/....your freaking party almost bankrupted this great nation and we are on the way to being respected around the world, something you cannot say about yourself in your own neighborhood......pathetic
If only Mr. Steele knew what he was talking about. All that happened with Mr. Specter was that another republican got voted out of office.
Vote NO in NOvember to the party of NO.
I'm having a hard time figuring out Steele's angle here.
So Specter lost, because he was a liberal agenda Obama lover.
And now the victor better watch out, because, uh, he's a liberal agenda Obama lover.
And Specter's loss is a "another blow to President Obama" because now he's left with a candidate who "time after time, has been a reliable vote for his Democrat[ic] bosses".
The man is stuck in spin cycle.
The repubs didn't want him. Now the dems don't want him. Says a lot. Good-bye, Specter. Good-bye McCain. Good-bye old timers. You've left us with a mess, year after year creating more laws that did nothing, while you blathered on with your rhetoric and took your ease in tax-payer salaries & benefits.
Mr. Steele needs to realize that its incumbents, not Democrats that will suffer in November.
The math that most of the incumbents are Democrats makes their losses greater to be inevitable, but that is hardly a "Republican" victory.
Anything short of retaking the Congress however, will be an indictment of the Repulbican party, so they would be best served by not being to arrogant about what may happen.
Steele your analysis of this situation shows you are a moron.
The only "democrats" that should be worried are those pretending to be Democrats, such as Specter and Blanche.
President O "supported" Specter to give him cover for switching parties and his votes on crucial agendas, but if you think we progressives wanted Specter to run against Toomey in the general, the same Toomey Specter would have lost the con primary to, then you are a bigger fool than I think you are.
But try and spin it as a loss for President O, your party's denialof facts is why we will stay in the majority in 2010 and beyond.
except for the fact that this was a Democratic primary and the biggest reason Specter lost was because he's a Republican in Democrat clothing.
Would somebody please tell Mr.Steele that he should worry about his own fear of being thrown off the GOP bus in November !
Steele is bad juju , golden hand shake , yes man.
Michael Steele is an idiot--Arlen Specter has been dead for awhile, he just forgot to lie down. His diatribe sounds like it was edited out of a bad movie script.
Dems beat one of their own and now dems should be scared. Didnt the samething happen to a repub in utah last week. wow steele u are dumb as a box of rocks
Steel needs to worry about his own party we the dems got this and for paul you can't take back this country its gods country.
