Palin targets NBC over McGinniss interview

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/05/24/art.palin.0524.gi.jpg caption="Palin is taking aim at NBC for their recent interview of Joe McGinniss."](CNN) – Sarah Palin is taking aim at NBC over the network's interview Tuesday with Joe McGinniss, the journalist who is writing a book about the former Alaska governor and currently renting the home next door to her.

Calling NBC's actions the "most recent illustration of the untrustworthiness of America's mainstream media," Palin criticizes the network on her Facebook page for not including statements she and her husband, Todd, had provided ahead of the segment.

"We were glad to provide a statement and appreciated NBC's promise to run it," Palin wrote in the post Tuesday. "Todd and I both crafted the statement very carefully because our new neighbor has taken to accusing us of 'inciting hatred' – a charge which we obviously take very seriously … But there was just one problem: NBC broke their promise and didn't run our statements after all."

McGinniss, who previously authored a largely-critical portrayal of Palin for the now-defunct Portfolio Magazine, moved into the Wasilla home last month, prompting the Palins to build a 14-foot fence separating the two properties.

In the nine-minute "Today Show" segment, McGinniss defended his decision to rent the home next door, saying it had more to do with the property's low rent than its proximity to the subject of his upcoming book.

"The fact is I would be living in this house if the Palin's lived on the moon. Fifteen hundred bucks a month for a house in Wasilla. I need to be in Wasilla to do my work," he told NBC's Matt Lauer. "I am not observing them at all. I am here to talk to people who have known them for 40 years in Wasilla."

McGinniss also took aim at Palin for recently posting a photograph of him on her Facebook page and suggesting he was spying on her family.

"Sarah hysterically puts up this Facebook page with all sort of ugly innuendo, which frankly is revolting the things she has caused people to say about me," he said. "I think this is probably a lesson for the American people of the power Sarah has to incite hatred and her willingness and readiness to do it."

McGinnis went on to compare Palin's tactics to those of the "Nazi troopers used in the 1930's."

In the statement, Palin claims NBC chose not run, the former vice presidential nominee says McGinniss "certainly has a right to live wherever he wants, but my family also has a right to expect privacy, and hopefully to enjoy peace this summer … the media sensationalizes the recent McGinniss' tactic so the public will tune in to whatever the latest episode is, always with ratings in mind, and that's unfortunate."

Palin also said that NBC provided "a lame excuse" for not airing her statement and promised to do so Wednesday.

UPDATE: A spokeswoman for the Today Show told CNN, "We were unable to run [the statements] this morning due to a timing issue."

Old saying "if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen"
Sara is in the public domain (running for office, giving speeches, etc.) and is getting criticism just as she dishes it out to others

She complains about media coverage then, when it doesn't go her way IE: the truth, she condemns it. This woman flip flops more than a landed halibut.
All news media should abort this launch attempt. Clearly not enough fuel between those solid rocket boosters.

Sister Sara is always the victim. None would know anything if she had not brought it up. She just can't help herself . . . talk, talk, talk ! What a gal !

Go figure. Palin has posted one long complaint. During the 2008 presidential campaign Palin used hate language and inaccurate claims over and over to imply Barack Obama was a terrorist. Yet here she is upset that McGinnis has suggested that her conduct is unseemly and unAmerican. Palin explains that she would never complain or call people names. Palin postures to be surprised that NBC did not run her statement which as released by her is framed to present the Palins as innocents under siege not only by a predator but by a predatory news media. Palin makes an incredible leap in concluding that a "corrupt, deceptive, and manipulative media" broke its promise to her, a promise that may exist only in her imagination.

If I were Sarah Palin's mother I would be very upset. When she was growing up I would have had high hopes for her. When she turned into a mean, cynical, persecuted greedy liar, I was ashamed. Go away Sarah...invest your millions and go fishing upstream with the fishes that go with the flow. We need intelligent leadership in this country and you ain't it.

I love this wacky, cross-eyed picture of Palin CNN posts on her articles. Whenever I see that picture it makes me want to run in the kitchen for a bag of chips so I can eat while being entertained by the article. This one gave me a good chuckle. Maybe she should just stick to Faux News from now on.

I can't believe how most of you talk about her. You say she is so stupid but look at what the so call "educated" Harvard, Yale and Columbia graduates have done to this country. We are trillions of dollars in debt and the so call "educated" in Washington are as corrupt as the come as they lie, cheat and steal, their way to power all in the name of "protecting us from the corrupt private sector. Open your eyes America!! Don't you think it's time for a "non educated" American to run this country? I'm not saying it should be Sarah Palin but I sure am ready for an "non educated" person to have his/her chance to turn this country around. Education is overrated...I'll trade education for common sense any day of the week!!!

Is Palin's 14 foot fence to code? I thought 6 foot was the standard height.

I have yet to figure out why we continue to publish anything that involves Sarah Palin. NBC – kindly exclude any and all discussion about Sarah Palin. The joke is long past and the need never existed. She does have a future in 2012 – at least up to December 21. As far as having value – please, we can't even find that on Saturday Night Live any more.

Sarah Palin is so, "pick me, pick me," but when they do, she no longer wants to play! She eats up the attention with a big spoon and then complains that she and her family have no privacy!! Can't have it both ways, Say-rah!!

You know, for a woman who can't stop making public appearances, who has given more interviews than all her critics combined she really is hypocritical about the media's attention on her.

Whine, whine, whine is all Palin does. She's a public figure (and she's eating it up), if she can't take the heat she needs to get out of the kitchen. What's she afraid of? I suspect she's afraid of the truth that McGinniss' book will reveal about her.

I think the fence is a great idea. Make 1000' high with no openings. At least then we wouldn't have to listen to her.........Oh wait!!! I forgot FOX built her a broadcast studio.....Well I can dream!!
