Palin targets 'extreme greenies' opposed to drilling

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/06/02/art.palin.twitter.jpg caption="Palin is targeting opponents of ANWR drilling on Twitter."](CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is using the Gulf Coast oil spill to promote the issue of drilling in the Arctic Wildlife National Refuge – the 20-million protected acres where untapped oil and gas reserves have long served as a lightning rod of controversy.

"Extreme Greenies: see now why we push 'drill, baby, drill' of known reserves & promising finds in safe onshore places like ANWR? Now do you get it?" the former Republican vice presidential nominee wrote Tuesday evening on her Twitter account.

That comment followed a similarly-themed tweet last week after President Obama announced a moratorium on deep offshore drilling for six months, while an independent commission reviews the explosion of the BP rig that caused the ongoing leak.

"Deep offshore moratorium? Then correspondingly allow more onshore drilling, incl ANWR reserves. Domestic oil's still required in US industry," she tweeted Thursday.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Palin was a strong advocate of drilling both offshore and in ANWR, a position that was repeatedly expressed her now-famous phrase "Drill Baby Drill."

In her Oct. 2008 vice presidential debate with Joe Biden, Palin specifically took aim at him for opposing offshore drilling efforts.

"You even called drilling – safe, environmentally-friendly drilling offshore – as raping the outer continental shelf," Palin said at the debate. "There – with new technology, with tiny footprints even on land, it is safe to drill and we need to do more of that."

Just why should we believe her when she says that drilling in ANWR is "safe" when she said the EXACT SAME THING ("safe, environmentally-friendly") about offshore drilling?

The usual ineffective Palin spin. Palin, two months ago: "Let's not forget that while Interior Department bureaucrats continue to hold up actual offshore drilling from taking place, Russia is moving full steam ahead on Arctic drilling, and China, Russia, and Venezuela are buying leases off the coast of Cuba." Plain, May 23: “I'm Big Supporter of Offshore Drilling.”

Why is this woman still in the news? Really. Why?
She quit her job as governor of Alaska in order to take life easier by running around giving speeches and writing books promoting her own wealth and agenda instead of working for the people of Alaska. Why does the media insist on giving her so much attention. If she was average looking, noone would pay any attention.

Why does this idiot keep opening up her mouth??? Maybe we should put it over the oil leak.

The"greenies" are looking out for the preservation of our natural resources, and Palin is like the old time movie villan, rubbing her hands together , while nature is on the tracks.

The sooner she dissapears from public view, the better off we will all be!

Am I the only one who sees that she is as unintelligent as she appears??

In God we trust, In oil companies we trust?

Sarah your such a hack. Oil Companies need to put maintenance into there pipeline so they do not leak. Off shore drilling has spoiled the Gulf Fishing industry and now you want to trust the same industry to drill in AWNR.

For Christ sakes there is still oil on the beaches of Prince Wlliam Sound.

Honey it is about "what you do not get". The oil industry needs regulation, better technology and fewer lobbyist.

How in the world does this woman's opinion matter to anyone? She's a nobody. The oil leak is a tragedy, but why do we care AT ALL what palin has to say? Didn't she prove herself crazy and incompetent long before she began to fade into the background? Twitter and Facebook should ban her stupid, meaningless accounts. Oh gee, you're so important, you're issuing harsh comments through your online profiles. Get a life sarah.

Let me see: she was wrong and the environmentalists were right about the dangers of drilling offshore; She was wrong and the environmentalists were right about the dangers of drilling in Alaska (as in Exxon Valdez); She was wrong and environmentalists were right when the called for more regulation of the oil industry (and instead we got Dick Chenny in closed door meetings with them).

Isn't there some rule about three strikes and you're out? Isn't it time to stop printing every nonsensical remarks of this brainless wonder?

Seriously? After this BP nightmare, she has the audacity to promote drilling instead of investing in alternative energy sources? We don't need more drilling – we need to start working on our future. We're destroying the environment and Republicans don't even care. How sad.

Sarah Palin's mouth is like a backflowing garbage disposal...the GOP is the plumber who can't seem to prevent the backflow of misinformation and propaganda that is driving their party off a cliff, and the American public is everyone that lives in the house who can't escape the sewage and foul odor that is her irrelevant, naive OPINIONS...this brought to you by a left leaning independent that would push for GWB's third term if it meant Sarah Palin would just stop talking.

Is Sarah Palin a petrol engineer? Remember that "super safe" pipeline back in 1979 that took 10 months to clean up?

How bout that Exxon Valdeez. Perfectly safe. Ships are unsinkable. Technology is unbreakable. My how I'd love to live in Sarah Palin's fantasy land.

Sarah Palin is a complete idiot and a disgrace to the political system of the U.S. Why won't she go away, and why does any respectable news source follow her faux celebrity antics? She abused her power while in office in Alaska, lied and twisted the truth to make it seem like she had actually done something as Governor, destroyed the GOP's chances at the White House with her stupidity and lack of knowledge of basic politics, then quit on the people that elected her in order to sell books and become a TV celebrity. Now she is pretty much willing to say anything as long as it pleases the crowd in front of her. She rallies in front of the Tea Party and then supports a Republican instead of their party candidate? She only has loyalty to making money, which is evident from her time in Alaska and everything she has done since.

Math 101 for stupid people (even stupid people should be able to understand the material covered in this course, however, the math in this course is much too complicated for the likes of Sarah Palin)

Lesson 1: The U.S. uses 25% of the world's oil supply; only 3% of the known supply lies within the borders of the U.S.. Conclusion: Even if we drilled every square foot of land within our borders we could NEVER get enough oil not even in the short term.

Only a total moron thinks off-shore, deepwater drilling is still a good idea--does she even watch the news when it's not about her??

What Palin isn't saying is that the oil that would be collected wouldn't go towards domestic use. It would be sold to the highest bidder on the world oil market. Only thing domestic oil would result in is a few less taxes in the state the oil was drilled from. Between taking a risk of destroying the economy and ecosystem of my state and paying a few extra bucks in taxes, I'll write the check.
