Palin targets 'extreme greenies' opposed to drilling

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/06/02/art.palin.twitter.jpg caption="Palin is targeting opponents of ANWR drilling on Twitter."](CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is using the Gulf Coast oil spill to promote the issue of drilling in the Arctic Wildlife National Refuge – the 20-million protected acres where untapped oil and gas reserves have long served as a lightning rod of controversy.

"Extreme Greenies: see now why we push 'drill, baby, drill' of known reserves & promising finds in safe onshore places like ANWR? Now do you get it?" the former Republican vice presidential nominee wrote Tuesday evening on her Twitter account.

That comment followed a similarly-themed tweet last week after President Obama announced a moratorium on deep offshore drilling for six months, while an independent commission reviews the explosion of the BP rig that caused the ongoing leak.

"Deep offshore moratorium? Then correspondingly allow more onshore drilling, incl ANWR reserves. Domestic oil's still required in US industry," she tweeted Thursday.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Palin was a strong advocate of drilling both offshore and in ANWR, a position that was repeatedly expressed her now-famous phrase "Drill Baby Drill."

In her Oct. 2008 vice presidential debate with Joe Biden, Palin specifically took aim at him for opposing offshore drilling efforts.

"You even called drilling – safe, environmentally-friendly drilling offshore – as raping the outer continental shelf," Palin said at the debate. "There – with new technology, with tiny footprints even on land, it is safe to drill and we need to do more of that."

Palin is such an idiot...and unfortunately an idiot with a twitter account! It amazes me how these people make it into politics!

Her husband worked for BP for years. Is this surprising?

It's good to know that offshore drilling is perfectly safe, and there's no threat to the environment to offshore drilling.

Glad to see that Palin is still reading all the newspapers.

CNN should become as infatuated with Tokyo Rose, and every day give us three stories about her, and a daily list of her thoughts.

The more she talks the worse she appears. Her facts are as scewed as those she criticizes. And she has designs on the presidency? The only presidency she should seek is Presidnet of the local Fish and Game.

    "Us vs. Them"

That's always Sarah Palin's message. Her ugly, divisive message.

"Extreme Greenies," as Sarah from Wasilla puts it, means pretty much anyone who has even the slightest reservationa bout "Drill, Baby, Drill.!"

The fact that this imbecile is held up as any kind of legitimate leader simply shows just how far we as a people have fallen when it comes to common sense and education. To revel in ignorance as much as she does and to have people laud you for it is a sad state of affairs.

Oh My God, is this women for real? She wonders why people drag her family into politics? She can't open her mouth without implicating her family. She throws them under the bus and blames everyone else. Sarah, please build your freaking fence so high you can't ever get out and we don't have to see you again. You just Drill baby Drill those fence post holes. As usual you contradict yourself with your drill baby drill stories. Sarah, you need to write this crap down (on your hand) so you can remember what you said in the past. Maybe go back and reread your book. Some of it may be in there. You make yourself look so stupid......but then you are.

The most patriotic thing Americans can do is to demand that this nation gets on the renewable energy bandwagon.
How many oil and coal disasters does it take?
If tweetypie Sarah doesn't like it, that is just plain tough.

I think all that is left for CNN is to dedicate an area for the daily post concerning Mrs. Half Term. Why anything this woman says is newsworthy continues to be a mystery to me

All she wants is credit for the money that would flood Alaska from the oil companies if they got to drill the ANWR. She doesn't give two sh!ts about the environment of the state she lives in.

The Sarah just doesn't learn, does she? Dumb as a bag of hammers. Maybe they should drill for oil in her new backyard and then see what she thinks of the environmental damage.

Palin is trying to defend her drill baby drill remark. She is not an energy expert. She is not an expert on anything!!!! She needs to let competent people study these issues and do what is best for the country, not self-promotion like Miz. Palikn.

I'm not sure who this quote belongs to, but it is an accurate description of Sour Palin and her stupid rants:

"It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

This is not news. Come on CNN – this woman is completely dumb about the facts, and her legion of similarly dumb "Palinites" follow this garbage and REALLY believe it.

I am embarassed you would continue to print her brand of willfully deceptive and misleading trash.

Just because oil is pumped from American ground, doesn't mean it goes to the American oil market. It goes to the World oil market. Where it will make a minor blip in the production. Why do people think that the companies sell us the oil just because we drill it here?

It takes years to even set up any of these drilling sites, so the effect wouldn't be anywhere near viable immediately. Time that could be spent getting out of the oil addicition.

And how is it "Extreme Green" to not trust that oil companies won't find some way to screw up the environment?

Yes, very environmentally friendly. Drill baby drill! It's amazing that she dares to even bring that phrase up again. Now she just shifts it to onshore drilling as if her offshore stance never existed.

Drill Baby Drill? Do you know that most of those wells do not supply the domestic market but sell their oil to other countries?

Ahhhhhh....there's so much stupid, it burns....aaaahhhhh. You're answer to the most horrendous ecological disaster in US history that was caused by drilling for oil is to drill for more oil? Really? REALLY? How can anyone grown person be this stupid, it defies logic.

As governor of Alaska ,Mrs. Palin said nothing about Exxon paying 92 million dollars they still owe in damages for the Exxon spill to the American people. Drill baby drill sold her soul along time ago to the oil companies
