Palin targets 'extreme greenies' opposed to drilling

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/06/02/art.palin.twitter.jpg caption="Palin is targeting opponents of ANWR drilling on Twitter."](CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is using the Gulf Coast oil spill to promote the issue of drilling in the Arctic Wildlife National Refuge – the 20-million protected acres where untapped oil and gas reserves have long served as a lightning rod of controversy.

"Extreme Greenies: see now why we push 'drill, baby, drill' of known reserves & promising finds in safe onshore places like ANWR? Now do you get it?" the former Republican vice presidential nominee wrote Tuesday evening on her Twitter account.

That comment followed a similarly-themed tweet last week after President Obama announced a moratorium on deep offshore drilling for six months, while an independent commission reviews the explosion of the BP rig that caused the ongoing leak.

"Deep offshore moratorium? Then correspondingly allow more onshore drilling, incl ANWR reserves. Domestic oil's still required in US industry," she tweeted Thursday.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Palin was a strong advocate of drilling both offshore and in ANWR, a position that was repeatedly expressed her now-famous phrase "Drill Baby Drill."

In her Oct. 2008 vice presidential debate with Joe Biden, Palin specifically took aim at him for opposing offshore drilling efforts.

"You even called drilling – safe, environmentally-friendly drilling offshore – as raping the outer continental shelf," Palin said at the debate. "There – with new technology, with tiny footprints even on land, it is safe to drill and we need to do more of that."

What else would you expect from this hillbilly? A catastrophe of monumental proportions and she has to throw her half baked comment in.

Wow. I am flabbergasted by her absolute stupidity. If it is possible for such a massive leak in the Gulf, supposedly one of the "safest" and most "secure" areas, then what the heck makes her think it is impossible for such catastrophe in Alaska?! And that area is protected as it is necessary for environmental stability! Has she just been completely ignoring all of those fancy scientists and their shrieking of the ice caps melting, polar bears dying, fish numbers dwindling, etc etc – and how all of this makes ocean levels rise, which increases tropical storms, drought, and flooding all over the world? I really want to know how it is possible to be just so naive in regard to the inter-connectivity of our actions on the planet ! I am beyond disgusted at this happy ignorance that refuses to examine true cause-and-effect logic.

Hmm I was wondering when Sarah would open up her mouth. So we have one long lasting blight/pox on our shores, lets add another one up North. The only positive news (and this is not really positive) is that the heat/sun will break down the oil faster. Up in the artic due to the extreme conditions, contaminants do not break as quick and therefore become more concentrated. But hey who cares about some caribou, or bears or seals, etc. Forget about the pristine waters and tundra.

Yeah, keep drilling and using American tax payer dollars while Palin and her family along with Alaska's residence receive royalty checks. Palin never talks about that.

Given their safety record on both land and sea, we would be unwise to allow oil drilling anywhere that we think is precious. Technology is great, but we have to look at performance which has been pretty poor.

"Never let a good crisis go to waste" should be the mantra of all politicians. Rather than drill, drill, drill, let's use this crisis as yet another example of why we need alternative energies. Yeah, modern industry needs oil. Everyone gets that. But let's start moving away from it so that someday we don't need to drill in deep water, shallow water, in nature preserves, or anywhere else. Why doesn't Sarah Palin and the GOP get it? All I hear from her is drill, drill, drill, and I'll never support that.

There are two forms of educated ignorance in American politics today, namely Ms. Pailn and Ms. Pelosi. Even though they seem to be diametrically opposed on most everything, they share one striking feature in common: their toad-like ability to leap from premise to conclusion, on critical issues, with nothing to sustain them in such a reptilitan flight.

It is a pity that the thousands of highly intelligent and successful women in America are not entering politics. Now, more than ever, we need smart women to replace the mentally challenged men and women, both in state and national politics.

Best Thing For This President are the likes of Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Limbaugh, and Hannity.

If it were not for those 4 psychos I would probably not vote for the guy but as long as there is that level of stupidty, greed, and hypocrisy coming from the right (NEVER DENOUNCED BY PARTY MEMBERS) you have a choice:

Pick the best of the worst and Obama is a million times better than those whack jobs although I wish we did have some other options.
