Allen: BP makes progress, but too early for celebration

(CNN) - The federal government's response manager to the Gulf oil disaster says BP has made progress, but cautioned it was too early to call the effort a success.
"We're making the right progress. I don't think anyone should be pleased as long as there's oil in the water," Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen said on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday.
Allen was responding to remarks over the weekend by BP's senior vice president, Bob Fryar, who said the company was "pleased" with its operation to funnel crude up from the ruptured undersea well to a drilling ship a mile above on the Gulf of Mexico.
Fryar said the company funneled about 250,000 gallons of oil on Friday from a containment cap installed on the well to a drilling ship on the ocean surface.
On Saturday, BP had increased the amount of oil it was funneling to about 441,000 gallons to the surface. Federal authorities estimate that 798,000 gallons of crude are gushing into the sea every day.
Allen confirmed that BP has been able to bring oil to the surface after placing the cap, but said no one should be pleased until a relief well is completed and the leaking stops.
"This is an insidious enemy," Allen said. "It's attacking all of our shores, it's holding the gulf hostage, basically."

Big oil "spill" is analogous to the big catastrophe that leaves little americans devastated and wanting while Big Government and Big Business feed off the little citizen reduced to a feudal dependency. The destruction of local economies and small business on the gulf coast such as fishermen and tourist shops is the same result we see when Big Business corporations collude with Big Government by lobby,campaign contributions, or an intrenationalist policy to redistribute wealth away from the middle class american to both the 3rd world poor and to the 1st world super wealthy by shipping our jobs or consumption to overseas markets. The bottom line is Big Governent and Big Business are both destructive of Big Freedom. We need the Big Citizen to be restored with small government and small business!
Big business colluding with big gov't is fascism and big government taking over the Church's role in charity is socialism. Faschism is no substitute for a free market economy and socialism is no substitute for charity. BP is a large Foriegn corporation which colluded with large D.C. Government to gain ultimately at the expense of all the little people; the gulf coast american citizens.

I guess we can agree then, this "gulf thing" is just one big MISTAKE.
Celebrate WHAT ? The worst environmental disaster ever ?
I think we should be thankful that some progress seems to have been made controlling the oil spill.It is not over yet ,and probably the worst damage will be from Green extremist once the spill is completely stopped, if that happens. People who have invested billions on the far fetched wind power plans and other schemes to shaft the people will be out in force to stop off shore drilling. We will see the price of oil at the pumps and in the plastic industries skyrocket when we find that these off the wall ideas that Algore and his cronies are pushing can not replace oil. If you feel a tugging on your nose it is probably the noose that has been fashioned by the green machine.
The permanent fix is to drill a new well to intercept the oil and until that is done I don't see why everyone is thinking anything BP does is going to stem the flow. CNN is keeping their boot on the neck of the administration to make money and amp up the BS narrative that something can be done to fix this problem. The whitehouse is falling for their daily headlines that the president is not doing enough. What can he really do but go down to LA and hold hands and attend meetings and state the same position the administration iterated from the beginning; that this is BP's responsibility and they will pay for this mess. But this does not change the fact that a permanent fix is no where near complete. So, I beg everyone to stop the emotional BS and focus on policy changes to prevent these spills in the future. I wan to see tougher regulations for companies and I want to see Americans pressure Republicans to lift the cap on damages oil companies can pay out. That should be our focus not whether the president is a cold fish.
We should remember that our government, before pushing private enterprise around, is less solvent than the smallest oil company.The oil companies do sell a product that has value, unlike the government, which sells you a bill of goods worth nothing and charges it to your grandchildren.
