Primary update, 11:46 p.m. ET: California

Washington (CNN) - Former eBay CEO Meg Whitman has won the Republican gubernatorial primary in California, the Associated Press projects. She will face off against state Attorney General Jerry Brown, the Democratic nominee, in November.

GOP gubernatorial primary:
Meg Whitman – 290,522 63.7%
Steve Poizner – 120,354 26.4%

6% of precincts reporting

    so if the results hold, Meg will have spent about $15/vote. Sounds like Michael Huffington all over again. Some rich exec bored with life trying buy their way into office. Let's all work to make sure Meg goes the way of Michael. Do we really want 8 more years of a Republican? And Meg makes Arnie look like a left wing liberal

    Sorry, the correct terminology would be she "bought" the vote, not "won" it.
