Waiting to be interviewed by affiliate KXTV Wednesday morning, Fiorina is clearly heard taking a dig at her rival for the California Senate seat, Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-California.
"God, what is that hair?" a laughing Fiorina said, while quoting a friend who had recently seen Boxer on television. "So yesterday."
Fiorina also questioned why Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman had decided to go on Sean Hannity's show the day after winning her party's primary.
"It's really surprising that on the first day of the general [election], Meg Whitman is going on Sean Hannity," she said. "I think it's bizarreā¦I think it's a very bad choice actually. You know how he is."
Contacted by CNN about the comments, a spokesperson for Fiorina downplayed the remarks. "This was nothing but early morning small talk," Fiorina campaign press secretary Amy Thoma said in an e-mail to CNN.
–CNN Associate Producer Martina Stewart contributed to this report.
Once Poizner/Cambell were out and Whitman/Fiorina were declared GOP candidates my November vote was sealed for Brown/Boxer. Better to vote for a known quantity than two un-patriotic, money loving, no credentialed/qualified women. Both outsourced good CA jobs. Both had board of directors cheer when they left. Business and government are not the same and neither Whitman nor Fiorina were good business people nor would they be good at governing.
Yes because good hair is all that is needed to be a Republican candidate – see Palin, Sarah. Stevegee, please ask the nurse to adjust your meds.
Cruella DeVil is one to talk.
Run HP in the ground, get paid,
run for office.
What will the re-pubic-cans think of next.
Fiorina wants to be Senator and she's talking about hair? Perhaps this is was prompted Hewlet Packard board to fire her, she had nothing better to be concerned with. Hard to imagine a CEO acting like an early high schooler. Pittiful at every level
Serioulsy CNN???
THIS is reporting??? I swear that I hardly ever watch CNN anymore. I checked it online this morning looking for real news and the site is full of "Enquirer" type bull.
I am travelling in Asia right now and I have to tell you that BBC and Aljazeera have WAY better news coverage with far fewer idiot stories.
Who cares what one politician said about anothers hair????
We have a country to run. You dont think that EVERY politician and CEO has said something similar? We all do it. They are not any different than the general public.
DO SOME REAL REPORTING AND PRINT SOME REAL STORIES.
When a democrat says something similar and it is heard by an open mic it is something the republicans keep alive for at least a couple of weeks or longer, but when it is republican it is nothing to talk about–small talk.
When we have one standard for both parties then we may begin to have some bi-partisanship.
California has a lion's share of the nutty right wingers
Not a Republican here, but ANYBODY that can take a shot at Sean Hannity (you KNOW how he is) gets a thumb up in my book. I just hope she doesn't go back crying for his forgiveness like the rest of them do with Rush.
Carly Rocks while Boxer Drops!
Barbara Boxer is going to have her for breakfast in this campaign.
It's all the more shocking that Carly would even make a mean comment on someone's hair, considering that not too long ago she didn't have any while undergoing cancer treatment.
Fiorina, look in the mirror.
Do her comments surprise anyone? The repubs always paint themselves as the only Christians in the race and they end up saying some of the most hateful things about their opponent (as well as their lie campaigns.....you know the ones that W and Rove perfected-the whisper campaigns). I am embarrassed to be classified with them. Yeah Carly.....you did a great job at HP. Let's hope that you can do the same for the califorincators should you win. Lay off some more people. Have at it.
No thanks, Carly. I took a look at your platform and it is exactly as I suspected. Beyond that, I said absolutely NOT when I saw you were endorsed by Sarah Palin. Your dumb comments give us all a peek in to who you really are – just another catty, bitter middle-aged woman trying to re-invent yourself for attention and dinner conversation. You no more have the interests of Californians in your heart than the best sun dress styles for summer. Women have enough problems gaining sure footing to be taken seriously without being attacked for looks. Boxer's HAIR???? REALLY? And, tell us, how IS Sean Hannity? If you're so lucky to get booked on his show, I hope he asks you how he "is" to your face.
What's most frightening is how many times she said "like" during this chit-chat. Is she running for Senator or prom queen?
