Obama spends 58 minutes in Ohio

Columbus, Ohio (CNN) – President Obama may love visiting Ohio, but he doesn't always stay long.

Friday's visit to Columbus for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the 10,000th road construction project using stimulus money was Obama's eighth visit to the state since taking office. He joked, "[Gov. Ted] Strickland said I've been in Ohio so much, he might start charging me for it."

But if he is charged by the minute, today's bill would be a small one.

He walked down the steps of Air Force One at Port Columbus International Airport at 11:33 a.m. He began speaking at the construction site on Columbus's southeast side at 11:55am, talking for 13 minutes.

After a quick tour and witnessing the groundbreaking ceremony out of the site of cameras, he was headed back to the airport. And at 12:31 p.m., he bounded up the stairs and waved as he disappeared back into the plane.

Elapsed time: 58 minutes.

Had to catch the flight back in time for an afternoon of golf. The man has his priorities you know.

It's still more time than he spends taking care of the nation's business.

I can't wait for amateur hour at the white house to be over.

Good riddance! We have enough problems in Ohio, we don't need him here too.

Yeah, his little waste of time trip may have been only 58 minutes, but I bet it cost the taxpayer a few million. THIS GUY JUST DOESN'T GET IT!

President Obama is a busy man! How can he be expected to visit all "58 states" without being brief?

The bill to the taxpayer was pretty significant, I'm sure.

I wish CNN had given us a minute-by-minute report of the Cheney/Big Oil meetings a few years ago - or of Cheney/Bush cavorting with their friends to drum up the WMD in Iraq.

It's a shame the repubs didn't and don't get the same minute-by-minute scrutiny.

    Oh well – maybe NEXT time – – – – – –

I'm so glad my tax dollars supported this expensive trip for 58 whole minutes! Way to go, Mr. Carter.

Those were 58 minutes he COULD have spent trying to solve the problem of the oil spill...which will eventually devastate the economy of the south. Of course, his solution will probably be another failed stimulus.

Mr. President, why haven't you involved the Navy in the Gulf? The scientists in the Navy have experience solving problems at 5,000 feet below the surface and could have solved this problem by now! BP has proven to do subpar work and has been testing all of their methods at 200 feet below the surface, which is an entirely different atmosphere!

So what? What are you trying to say? Isn't it more important that he hopped on a plane and showed up at all than to provide some incendiary countdown of the minutes he spent there?

CNN...this is shameful that you're trying to make something out of nothing. If you were actually doing your jobs and REPORTING THE NEWS rather than TRYING TO MAKE IT...this country might be more informed and better off.

What would you like to bet, that tomorrow the right wing will say that President Obama should not have gone to Ohio, but rather spend his Friday and the week-end in LA.
This man as our nations leader (do you hear me right wing nuts?) has managed to work out a deal with BP to sat aside 20 billion dollars for the people in the Gulf areas. Had this not been done, these people would maybe see relief and reimbursement in 10 to 15 years.
What does the party of NO do and say? Need I have to repeat the words of MR. Barton from Texas or Ms. Bachmann from Minn.? There is simply no limit to the disrespect and misinformation these people throw day after day.
The real silent majority can and will put an end to this negative nonsense come November 2010 and again in 2012. This is no longer political debate, this is out-right anti government hate speech on the part of the republican party, tea baggers and birthers. Please remember how dangerous these people and their way of thinking is.

Now here's a subject CNN pollsters can really sink their teeth into.

Obama's Trip to Ohio lasted 58 minutes. On a scale of 1 – 10 do you feel this trip was:

    1. Too long

    2. Not long enough

    3. Just right

During this trip, on a scale of 1 – 10 should Obama have waved as he bounded up the steps, or do you agree that waving as he disappeared back into the plan was sufficient?

    During this trip . . .

how many permanent jobs have been created as a result of the 10,000 road projects? I bet it is less than 10,000, or less than 1 permanent job per project.

Since Hayward has been relieved of managerial duties in BP it's now time for the Americans to demand that the other half of this disaster in the Gulf resigns too.

It is time for Obama to resign.

A community organizer brain can not run this country.

It is time to Obama to resign.

A community organizer brain takes to long to make a decision and 99.9% of the time it’s the wrong decision.

It is time for Obama to resign.

I wonder how much this campaign trip cost the shrinking pool of American taxpayers... How much fuel was expended? Carbon produced? All for a campaign trip, I might add.

And so what's your point?! With everything on the President's plate, he needed to go in, do what he was there for, and then leave. Period. This is a non-story.
