Vice President to travel to Gulf coast

Washington (CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden is headed to the Gulf Coast region Tuesday to "assess efforts to counter the BP oil spill," according to the White House.

The Vice President is scheduled to visit the National Incident Command Center in New Orleans, and will also tour the Florida panhandle. The White House says additional details will be released in the coming days.

In a news conference Friday, Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, the government's point man overseeing spill recovery efforts, said Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and environmental advisor Carol Browner will also visit the region next week.

    Anyone else see the You Tube video of the moms somewhere along the panhandle letting their little ones play in the water while tar balls cover the beaches? One little one was crying because the bottom of her foot was covered with goo. I had to wonder if these women weren't intelligent enough to realize their kids were playing in poison. It was almost like they figured this is my vacation and by God no one is going to take that away. Sad.

    What is this? The 10000th photo op for these worthless politicians?! Stop wasting the taxpayers money on this worthless BS, sit down in DC AND DO SOME REAL WORK!

    These idiots just seem to run around with their heads cut off to give the appearance that they care and that something is being done. Hey VP-BITE-ME, why aren't you overseas trying to expedite the arrival of all the skimmers offered from foreign countries? Oh yeah, your union masters won't allow it.

    Hey Biden,

    Try to remember – the Florida Panhandle is a section of the state, not a minor league sports team down on their luck.

    You're welcome... buffoon.

    This administration is not doing enough to help the folks in the Gulf deal with this oil spill.Now, they have decided to stop the berms from being built that was put into place to stop the oil from getting into the marshes.The EPA is still letting BP dump toxic dispersiants into the ocean waters without any idea of what damage they are doing to people and wildlife.Obama has let the folks in the area down miserablely and seems to be worried more about getting democrats elected than dealing with the problems of the country.

    Get him on a boat and then a helicopter so he can REALLY see the extent of the damage this is doing to the Gulf Coast and their lives. Photo ops do nothing for anyone!

    fBiden should stay home and play golf with Obama. It would be a lot cheaper for the taxpayers and probably more would get accomplished with them on the golf course.

    Dear Mr VP, wait, who did you say? did you say, bite me? C;
    Please tip the masseusse well, and make sure you pick up the tab for laundering the poor girl's uniform. We don't want the pants in the Smithsonian, next to algore's masseusse's pants, and Monica's blue dress. It's the only happy ending in this adminstration's nightmare.
    Maybe you should swim in the gulf first, then she can save money on the oil for your massage.
