Its not stopping the oil that is giving Obummer a bad rap it is his handling of the aftermath. All you dems out there gave it to Bush for his handling of Katrina or lack thereof...well if it is good for the goose (Bush) its good for the gander (Obama).

...and to S.B. Stein who wrote: "Oil isn't Obama's primary concern. He isn't running an oil business. He is managing the day to day concerns and policies of the US. That is far more important. This is just one of the many issues that he deals with every day."

The problem is he is doing a horrible job running the country period! No jobs, debt up to our grandchildrens eyeballs, healthcare that is not going to be great but make everybody pay even more...give us a break...we are tired of all this "change".

  2. Save America, impeach the treasonous republicans

I see that the mentally challenged right wingnuts are out in full force today, this time complaining about democrats trying to fix Wall Street with a 2300 page reform. Expecting any republican to read or understand a bill without the benefit of a hand puppet production for explanation is too much to ask from the party that is bought and paid for by big oil and big business.

BC is way out on that comment. BO was asleep at the wheel with the BP spill. It is his Katrina.

Dear Barack-Hussein Obama America's Benevolent dictator:

Are you on crack? That is the only explanation for your ongoing and unwarranted attacks on our president. I like our president FAR better than Bush and way better than had we had McCain/Palin. What a scary situation would we be in now if McCain had won. Have you forgotten that we were on the brink of having our economy completely collapse? All the major economist advised President obama to take the steps he did. This was not some sinister way of taking over the country to a dictatorship as you suggest. We are lucky to have him.

I am tired of the right wing fascists criticizing Obama's efforts at fixing the crap he inherited. I know that Bush, according to baggers, was not responsible for any of the problems that we now face, but we were in the crapper before Obama was sworn in 17 months ago. Why is it that republican wingnuts refuse to accept any blame for the most inept president in history? Even Jimmy Carter created 13 million jobs in one term while Bush created 3 million jobs in two terms.

Steve is a genius. "All the illegals in the country" – oh I didn't know that all of a sudden when Obama became President, that now we have a situation. Oh and by the way – the biggest financial meltdown since the Great Depression happened when Bush was President. Too bad Obama doesn't have a magic wand and fix it all in 1.5 years...even if he did you would still find something to whine about.

This is a comment from the side in Canada, it appears to us that the Pres is doing all he's allowed to, he can't go down and plug the leak, as for the not allowing help form abroad, isn't there a law that prevents ships not flying the USA flag are not allowed to do business in the States, I think that that law has been in for a number of years and if the Gov't allowed foreign ships to work on the oil problem wouldn't there be an uproar?? about cutting USA ships out of the chance to help?

Of course you are Republican and you're busy transmitting all the lies that you can eh?

All the liberals defending Obama's inaction are the same that called for Bush's hanging after Katrina.

Liberalism is the ability to only see what you want to see. Most societies call this a mental disorder.

In 1983 we faced 13% unemployment under Reagan. Personally I became a democrat when Nixon froze my wages in 1973 and I had to wait in long gas lines to get my 5 gallons.

We know one thing – Obama can't take a punch because the mainstream media never does its job since they all voted for him. He is so weak all he can do is blame Bush. Sounds like your children before grade school.

Go smoke a cigar Billy boy!

Obama isn't moving to clean up the spill for political reasons - he wants his Cap-and-Tax scam, and he's making good on his deal with Soros by driving away the deepwater oil platforms.

Obama has used this to only push for his green agenda. Why didn't he approve the use of skimmers from the other countries when they offered. No he had to push his agenda and he needs for the oil slick to be bad to do that.

Just remember this democrats and independents: if the Republicans take over the house and senate in 2010, we will revert to the same policies, tax cuts for the wealthy, war, war and big business and oil getting all the tax breaks in the world.
Change takes time and you have to be commited to let it happen, we all agreed that financial regulations were needed, health care was needed, end the wars in a timely manner.....he has worked extremely hard to turn this country around,,but the party of NO continues to obstruct.....Be tough and support President Obama and elect democrats and progressives not right wing conservatives who only care about themselves!
Let us not revert back to what got us here.....remember the 8 years under Bush/Cheney.

Thanks, Bill. My sentiments exactly. The President has been in office only about a year and a half and he has had great accomplishments. I'm convinced that President Obama will never be able to do anything that satisfies the GOP, especially the extreme right wing ones. Their HATRED of him is not normal. It goes beyond policy. And since I live and grew up in the South, I have a sense of what much of this abnormal vitriol is all about.

The man got $20 billion from BP as THE 1st INSTALLMENT on paying damages.

The people don't have to wait 20+ years like they had to with the Exxon Valdez spill.

The pople don't have to pay 33% of the award to a lawyer as would be the case if the money came from civil litigation.

Anybody that takes the time to think would see how well he has done.

We need to ensure that the deep sea moratorium remains in affect, deep sea drilling is not proven to be safe, it is quite new and doesn't have a great safety record. The GOP has to stop grouping it with shallow water drilling as a means to make it appear tested and safe.

I am pleased that the GOP sheep are still talking nonsense, they will continue to turn off the average voter so that the dems can get to the magic 60 in November. Obama will easily win in 2012 and Hillary will get the nod in 2016 and 2020.

  21. shut up "slick willie"

When a president takes 60 days to address the nation about something, and people complain about it,that's not giving someone a "bum rap" that is telling the truth! The truth, willie boy is this:this guy has been too busy throwing parties for rock stars, throwing beer bashes, golfing with the veep and doing godknows what else, while the citizens of the gulf are barely getting by!And when he does talk to us,he uses it as an opportunity to try and sell us on his "crap and trade" bill.

Oh Bill, do not fear. We, sane people, have stopped listening to the rabid righties a long time ago. They'll jump up and down because he's not being empathetic enough. They'll label him an angry black man if he does get emotional (and heaven forbid says the word a$$). They'll say he's not doing enough, then they'll claim he's overstepping his authority and being unfair to BP by getting it to save 20 billion to help the affect Americans in the region.

Seriously, he could swim down there and plug the hole with recycled t-shirts and they'd complain about the way he was swimming!

They're past looking desperate. AND WE DON'T CARE!

The POTUS is doing a great job!

Obama is NOT getting a bum rap – if Bush or possibly Clinton had taken this long to do something about a disaster, they would have been impeached. The country is being WAY too easy on Obama.
