Biden makes Iraq stop, will visit troops

(CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Iraq with his wife Saturday to celebrate the Fourth of July with American troops, the White House said.

Biden is expected to also meet with Iraqi political leaders, including Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. He will also meet with former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, whose political coalition narrowly won an election in March. Political factions are still negotiating who will hold key posts in the new government.

The vice president and Jill Biden will attend a naturalization ceremony for members of the armed forces, and will participate in a Fourth of July event for Iraqi officials, the White House said.

Jill Biden will attend several Fourth of July activities, meet with civilian embassy officials and participate in a teacher training roundtable with Iraqi women who teach English in Baghdad, the White House said.

Willy, show some respect. The VP is giving up time with his family to visit and honor our troops in harms way. The least you could do keep your snide comments to yourself. Have you ever served your country? Or do you just poke fun at public servants?

If we had followed Joe's policy for Iraq this would not have been possible. I hope he keeps his foot out of his mouth and doesn't say any more stupid things.

Show respect to who, Joe Biden who insults American citizens by calling them "smart ass" when they ask him to lower our taxes. Like they say...you get respect when you give respect.

What a waste of taxpayers' money. And and his wife go as a couple – meanwhile the soldiers there are thousands of miles apart from their spouses and loved ones. What another example of making an a$$ of himself. He should pay for the trip out of his own pocket.

At least our VP is a decent man. That word can hardly be used to describe the last VP who got us into Iraq in the first place.

Thanks, Joe Biden. Help get our sons and daughters out of Iraq and Afganistan and any other place trouble is being stirred up to keep the USA from concentrating onits own Country.

Consider Mr. Obama visiting the troops ON the FRONT LINES in Afganistan. Also all other war policymakers MUST spend at lease 1 WEEK on the front lines in Afganistan in order to receive their next paycheck !

Did Mr. Obama see the British video of the front lines yesterday – where the soldier got shot? They should be made to watch it – or maybe they are watching videos from the front lines and hospitals and we just don't know it. Are they?

It is time for bickering to stop and work together as a people and nation to get our country on track. There is much work to do.

God bless our troops on this 4th of July weekend and be safe. You are carrying on a proud tradition of protecting America and we love you for it.

Willy Brown: Why don't you enlist and join our soldiers in their struggles?

    Vet in Midwest,

If think that this idiot has a clue about what has happened in Iraq, than there is a high probability that you operated a spatula during your time in service...

Biden is not a public servant. He is a parasite on working Americans.

NC– So the party that drove us off the road into the ditch is going to take over? The party of NO! Talk about putting foot in the mouth Michael Steele sure is doing a good job. So is John B. with his ant comment. Give me a break. I doubt it if you three clowns have ever served in the military. I bet you just like to play with your computer. Vet in midwest –Thank You for your service and to all you vets out there in the military retired or still serving. Happy 4th of July.
November 2010–2012 can't come soon enough -vote for a democrat.

Vet-I think BiteMe and his family have been well compensated for their time over the last 20 years of milking the public tax cauffers. I'm with NC, I can't wait for 2010 and 2012, the Democrats we have in Congress are nothing but a bunch of corrupt thieves, liars and traitors. Both Party's suck but at least the Republicans tend to be more Conservative and get it, that is why there is a TEA Party that draws toward the CENTER!

"vote for a republican"?!? Those nutbaggers have nothing to offer our country except obstructionism, lies and a desire to please their corporate masters. They are out of touch with mainstream America and the sooner sane minds take over that party the better. Our country cannot afford any more "experiments" with disproven theories like tax cuts for the wealthy and deregulation.
