(CNN) - As if we already didn't know Lady Gaga is the biggest thing in the universe right now.

On Friday the shock singer broke 10 million followers on Facebook making her the first living person to have so many friends on the social networking site.

Gaga had been running neck and neck with President Barack Obama for the honor, but soon surpassed the Commander-in-Chief.

All the conservative blogs sent their followers to Fan lady Gaga. And it would seem they complied, as usual with no regard for fairness or integrity. And true to form, more concerned about superficial appearances and perceptions than anything substantive. Very shallow

Lady Gaga....GAG I will take our President any day over this hag. Really feel sorry for the young people in America if this is their new idol/generational gap, whatever....seems to me the young ones are brain dead...so sad. Feel free to bring on the insults...won't change my mind.

Do people really care that much about how many "friends" they have on some website?

Both Gaga and Obama may have millions of fans but less than 1/3 are "real" fans.

Check out "black hat" Facebook marketing and you'll find TONS of people selling Facebook fans – most of which are accounts created by a single offshore outsource person.

The real world is much different than the reported world.

That is really a cute story CNN, keep up the good work. It's good to get twitter news from CNN and to know that the news editors are hard at work making sure I'm informed.

If the recession requires budget cuts at CNN, and you have to let some people go, I have some suggestions for you.

Campaigner* in Chief. He will never be a commander, he lacks the common sense and dedication to the American people to even understand the meaning of commander.

So this is news how? As soon as it broke that the President and Gaga were neck and neck the Gagites went and friended if they haven't already. This was the reason for the surge.

Anyways, followers on Facebook doesn't amount to much. If you wanted to follow what really mattered you would follow the president and other news makers.
