Trio of House Republicans to release 'Young Guns'

Washington (CNN) – Three leading House Republicans will release a new book entitled "Young Guns" in September, publisher Simon & Schuster announced Monday.

The book is jointly written by House Minority Whip Eric Cantor, R-Virginia; Republican Chief Deputy Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-California; and Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin, according to Brad Dayspring, who is acting as part-time publicist and spokesman for all three lawmakers as they release their new book.

In a phone interview with CNN, Dayspring described "Young Guns" as "a complimentary effort to many that are already under way to promote conservative candidates, layout a conservative Republican agenda and describe a positive narrative for the 2010 election."

The term "young guns" was used in the fall of 2007 by the Weekly Standard's Fred Barnes to describe Cantor and other up-and-coming House Republicans under the age of 45. The term was subsequently used as the title of a program founded by Cantor, McCarthy, and Ryan during the 2007-2008 election cycle to help identify conservative leaders. Rep. Pete Sessions, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, adopted the "Young Guns" program and it is now a formal NRCC program to recruit candidates and provide training to House Republicans, according to information available on the NRCC website.

The book "Young Guns" will be released in mid-September, according to Simon & Schuster. Cantor, McCarthy, and Ryan each author three chapters in the book, Dayspring said. The book looks back, addresses the last 18 months under the Obama administration and a Democratically-controlled Congress, and then describes a way forward in terms of candidates and policy prescriptions, Dayspring also told CNN.

"Young" and "guns" sounds about right for Republicans....

However, I wouldn't use the two words together. These guys are by no means the new sheriff in town. Hell, they aren't even smart! They are just tools of the Rush Limbaugh crowd.

Will the "Young Guns" be able to save the party from the "Loose Canons" who are in charge now?

Every Politician that holds up the Unemployment Extension should have there paycheck withheld, that is Vote them out in November. If Washington can’t see the need in the Unemployment Extension, As Americans we should see no need in employing them as our representatives. All that said I highly recommend that every unemployed American bombbard Washington with every means accessible till they pass this Extension.

Remember to plan for the worst and hope for the best, likely Americans will have to get through this with out the help of Washington.

Can the rethugs do anything without the "gun" implication?
Map with crosshairs, the President is going to take my guns away. the rethugs in congress being blackmailed and threaten by the NRA.
cantor always seems to be constipated. He reminds me of the congressman who dated Shandra(sp?) Levy who always had a smile on his face even when he was being accused of her death.
Clueless comes to mind about these people.

These guys, especially Cantor are part of what is wrong with the country. They are of the extremist neo-con faction that has conquered the republican party and have no solutions whatsoever, yet try to block everyone trying to solve the country's problems. A more appropriate title for these guys would be "Young Duds".

Instead of writing a book why aren't they working their job. They need to do something for the people not writing a book.

No wonder they can't do their jobs - too busy writing a book for more $$$$ in their pockets instead of working FOR the constituents that pay them. Typical republikkkan. AND they play golf and go to bars with Boehner and others.

Conservative means that you have to believe what they tell you to believe. Liberal means freedom of thinking and believing as you wish.

Grand OLD Party is devoid of any new ideas and is stuck 100 years in the past. "Young" is anything but what describes the Republican Party, no offense to the gray hairs out there. I'm not very young myself but saw the light 20 years ago and stopped voting for the GOP.
