[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/07/13/art.angle.gi.jpg caption ="A war of words has erupted between Sharron Angle and the DNC."]Washington (CNN) - One day after Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle said that a Republican senator has "outlived his usefulness," Democrats on Tuesday are claiming Angle "thinks people who criticize her political positions should die." In response, her campaign is blasting that characterization of her remarks as "absurd."
"Outlived" and "die" are the latest entrants in an increasingly bitter war of words between Angle, her supporters - and her detractors. Both sides are throwing sharp verbal knives as Angle hopes to oust the most powerful Democrat in the Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid.
The Democratic National Committee is responding to comments Angle made to Neil Cavuto of Fox News on Monday. In that interview, Angle was asked to respond to recent comments from Republican Sen. Robert Bennett.
On Friday, the Utah senator told the Associated Press that Angle would likely not beat Reid. Bennett also criticized the Tea Party movement, saying that it is "creating mischief" and is clueless of a clear strategy to govern the country. Bennett lost his re-election bid, at a state convention in May, partly at the hands of Tea Party activists.
Speaking with Cavuto, the Tea Party-backed Angle said of Bennett: "I'm glad to be lumped to a crowd of mainstream Americans who believe as they showed at the polls that Sen. Bennett has outlived his usefulness." Angle added, "I suppose he's not mainstream any longer. He has become one of those elitists that is no longer in touch with what the country is really thinking about in these economic times."
The remark that Bennett "has outlived his usefulness" has now gotten a scathing response from national Democrats.
"While 'death panels' were nowhere to be found in the health insurance reform bill, it looks like Sarah Palin can find a one-woman version of one in Nevada where Sharron Angle thinks people who criticize her political positions should die," DNC National Press Secretary Hari Sevugan said in a statement.
"Her sentiments are sick," Sevugan added, reiterating his party's claim that Angle "wishes death upon her critics."
Reid's campaign is seizing on the comments as well.
"This is yet another example of Sharron Angle's over-the-top rhetoric that underscores an agenda far too dangerous and extreme for Nevada," Reid Campaign Deputy Communications Director Zac Petkanas said in a statement. "Whether she's comparing Social Security to 'welfare', saying that Nevada's unemployed are 'spoiled' or suggesting 'Second Amendment remedies' are a reasonable reaction to defeat at the ballot box, our campaign will not shy away highlighting just how out-of-touch Sharron Angle is with Nevada's voters."
In response, Angle's campaign fired right back.
"We expected Harry Reid to be desperate–we didn't expect him to be totally absurd. When Reid wants to actually have a debate about his atrocious unemployment record and what he has done to destroy Nevada's economy, let's talk."
Angle's right.
Most Republicans have outlived their usefulness
Another misleading story. She never claimed that she wanted anyone dead. Democrats are just trying to smear here. Read the article. Good to see CNN doing some liberal PR.
Democrats are killing the country–lying and passing garbage legislation. Reid is horrible.
If Angle is elected, we are really on the road to the end. What an idiot!
Dennis/Nashville,Tn.
So desperate Harry, but come November we Nevadans will vote you out of office and you will be one of the 14% in this state without a job!
these ads show just how desperate Reid is he knows he is losing and he is scared to death. Hope we can say bye bye Reid.
I don't know how many senior citizens live in Nevada, but from her website calling for "transitioning out" Social Security and Medicare, and her statement that Senator Bennett had "outlived his usefulness," she should not count on too many of their votes.
Palin looks smart compare to her....she is a nut case and need to be on meds. this can't be real.....NV please look the other way please, because if you vote for her...........something is wrong. SHE IS CRAZY look at her.
Ah, the pigs have come out to play. You just can't get good help anymore especially with the morons on the right. Wow, they just can't help themselves. Open mouth....insert foot...no, no, both feet.
I have listened to Sharron Angle's views on the country and find it hard to believe how grossly mis-informed she is on most issues and blatantly quotes false statistics and information. I am beginning to see that she is very typical of what the Tea Party is putting forth as candidates.
Haha... reminds me of the distinction Stewie drew on Family Guy in that Real World parody episode they did:
"There's always been a lot of tension between Lois and me. And it's not so much that I want to kill her, it's just, I want her not to be alive anymore."
-Stewie from Family Guy
It's not her job to create jobs if elected, so what makes her think it's Harry's job?
Maybe the State Legislature is what failed Nevada job creation. She was a part of that local body for years.
She's a job killer.
"We expected Harry Reid to be desperate–we didn't expect him to be totally absurd. When Reid wants to actually have a debate about his atrocious unemployment record and what he has done to destroy Nevada's economy, let's talk."

But Honey, you said, on video, that when you were elected to the Senate... it would NOT t be YOUR job to create jobs!!! I'd ask how stupid you are but the answer would be scary!
I'm all for the Dems, but this move is straight out of the Repugs playbook. Please don't stoop to their level. Its shameful.
Oh how the Democrats hate conservative women! As if they think all women must be liberals. They need to give the female gender more credit than that.
Thank you Tea Party for nominating the only candidate who could lose to Harry Reid.
P.S. Thanks for the crazy guy, Rand in Kentucky, too.
Don't get the true story lost in this article Bennett said that tea party members don't have what in takes to govern that the truth
You would think a so called intelligent woman could find a better choice of words. Guess public speaking may not be one of her strong points? LOL
Politics Reid didn't give Bennett's statements he did. Attack Bennett's statements she has no clue on how to govern.
Everytime this moron opens her mouth she reminds me of Palin.
Isn't there a single politician in the country( any party) with any decorum , brains or upbringing to speak and act with dignity? Or is this country so far down the road of mediocrity that it isn't worth saving ? And what about the out of control media in politics? They are so bent on influencing ,twisting words and pushing their agenda and candidates! Its sickening!
All I see are a bunch of old fogies fighting over nonsense who think the rest of us live in the hideous Roseanne TV show style. I've listened to both and neither is any good for the future of our country. Both are absurd and desperate, neither sees how technology has changed even the Fabric printing industry, sewing industry, packaging industry, even farmers I've seen are using new computer technologies. Not all jobs went oversees, people are just lacking computer skills. Green Technology will require training, computer skills, people like Reid and Angle don't see it.
Wow!! This lady is out there in the worst way..
I hope to God that people in this country aren't dumb enough to vote for this woman. SHE IS NUTS!!!!!
If Sharron Angle were to win this election I would think Nevada has gone over the edge of stupidity. I really don't think this is going to happen. The people ofNevada cannot possibly be that gullible.
