Poll: Positive opinion of Gore drops

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/07/14/art.algore.0714r.gi.jpg caption ="A new poll released Wednesday indicates that 49 percent of Americans have an unfavorable view of Al Gore."]Washington (CNN) - Nearly half of all Americans have an unfavorable view of former Vice President Al Gore, according to a new national poll.

A Gallup survey released Wednesday indicates that 49 percent of the public holds an unfavorable view of Gore, with 44 percent saying they see him in a favorable light.

The 44 percent favorable rating is down 14 points from October 2007, the last time Gallup polled on Gore, which was soon after he was named the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

The new survey was conducted after the announcement that Gore and his wife Tipper were separating, and after the announcement of a police investigation in Oregon into allegations that he committed a sexual assault in 2006. A Gore spokesman says the former vice president denies the accusations.

Gore had a 52 percent favorable rating in CNN's most recent poll on the former vice president, which was conducted last December.

As for Gore's successors, former Vice President Dick Cheney's favorable rating stands at 36 percent, with 52 percent saying they have an unfavorable view of Cheney.

Forty-three percent of those questioned say they have a favorable view of Vice President Joe Biden, with 41 percent seeing him in a unfavorable light.

The Gallup poll was conducted July 8-11, with 1,020 adults questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus four percentage points.

Everybody knows the Nobel Peace Prize was nothing more than a contrived political statement ! He's nothing more than a carnival pitchman for his "global warming" movement, much of which has been debunked, for the purpose of his own self-enrichment.

Is it true that he offered this woman 200 carbon credits for her to be his own personal Lewinsky?

To be expected from a glo-bull-warming extortionist!

Most people that I know never gave a hoot about Al Gore, the ultimate deceiver. The tree hugger made millions off the stupidity of the general public with his "environmental" quest. Most of what he claims to be, just isn't so. There is so much information to the contrary of what he says. If only the sheeple would take the time to research, the world be just a trite back on track.

Trial by the media once again! Why is the (alleged) journalistic community always so quick to pass judgment? I don't know if Gore is guilty or not, but I do know that the basis of American law is "innocent until prove guilty." Wouldn't it be nice if the media (CNN included) would just present the facts, not the rumor and innuendo– or doesn't that sell advertising?

Well, my rating for him has not dropped, it was 0 to start with so it could not go lower. I rate him right up there with barry and hillary. Sensationalism for profit, misinforming the public, cover ups, The goofs that are running this country are going to bring it down, which is their ultimate plan it seems. Someone ochestrated this whole election and they are the one pulling the strings on the puppets. If people are too dense to see what the ultimate objective of this organized plan is, then woe to the freedoms that will soon disappear when everything is nationalized and we have a country full of government dependant trolls running around.

The main positive aspect of Gore, has always been that he is pro-environment.......and far too few politicians give the planet any consideration, whatsoever!

I lost respect for him after many of the claims in his documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" were shown to be nonsense.

No one makes their star shine with a stain on it. Unfortunately former President Al Gore letting their marriage fall apart at their age, doesn't encourage people favour him as it was before.

The average American voter has become so jaded and uninformed that public opinion polls are not worth the paper they are printed on. It is a joke to continue asking the opinion of such a group of people who tend to know and care more about Lindsey Lohan than they do about their on government or their history.

Al "get off of me you big lummox" Gore is a bloated, pathetic snake-oil salesman who preys on the intellectually weak to push his ridiculous climate change theories.

Gore is a hypocritical politician forever seeking a spotlight to monopolise. For a while, he played at being an eco-nut, until everyone caught onto the fact that "climate change" was an organised fraud and started laughing at his imaginary "hockey sticks."

I expect he'll find another spot-lit soapbox someday but, for the moment, he's vanished into the shadows of obscurity.

  23. Impeach em all

This country would be better off if we impeached all present politicians and put gag orders on all former politicians who can't seem to live without the limelight. These egotistical idiots are ruining the country. Their agenda is not to preserve a strong America, but to drive it to it's knees with their communistic attitudes of total governmental control.Get ready comrades, if they persist on taking the route they have planned, we will all be answering to a dictator and his regime soon. And no, I'm not a tin foiler or a far right wingnut, just an ordinary, independent American who does not like the way this is shaking out.

What's there to be positive about, exactly? He leveraged his political power and influence to push legislation that tricked the world into filling his pockets full of cash, based largely on falsified information.

You can't hate Cheney and love Gore. Unless you're a blind Liberal. Likewise, you can't defend Cheney and hate Gore either, before you call me a hypocrite.
