In its latest stimulus report released Wednesday, the White House's Council of Economic Advisers said the Recovery Act has already funded about 3 million jobs.
That's in line with earlier predictions from Christina Romer, chairwoman of the council, who has said since the beginning of the Recovery Act that the stimulus would save a total of 3.5 million jobs by the end of 2010. Different models estimate the number of jobs to be between 2.5 million and 3.6 million, meaning Romer's target may have already been reached.
They can beat their chests and tout they created jobs. Problem is they are temporary jobs only around till the task is done or the funds run out. Just ask my Aunt who was employed as a census worker and now has no job.
What planet are they living on? Unemployment figures have gone up since the Stimulus Package. If anything it lost 3 million jobs..
That’s right! The president does everything wrong. What – eh, jobs? Well, eh, no or no, better more hell no! With the “wisdom” of a very slow president John McCain, and the spirit of such a real American as Miss Palin playing vice-president, the lines before soup-kitchens all across the country would be miles long. The Gulf disaster would be hailed by Fox News as a God send blessing because millions of victims of the greatest depression the world has ever seen can gather the oil for a small fee from the beaches in order to have something to burn during the winter month. As infrastructure is crumbling people would get together again in real frontier spirit, talking about the times of “The Great Awakening”. Oh, yes, the past was so great for everyone. Don’t you remember?
Obama is such a liar. Besides the progressive/liberal kooks that believe everything that comes from the White House, does anyone really believe this administration's spin? Just because they say it, does not make it true.
Unemployment is at 9.5% (17% if you include those that have stopped looking for jobs or are underemployed). Obama even padded his numbers with the temporary Census jobs.
CNN needs to do some real reporting. Do some research. Find out what the real numbers are.
Does she really think we the people are THAT stupid?
The administration claims the $862 billion economic stimulus package has saved or created 3 million jobs. That’s $287,000 PER JOB? Ummm…something is wrong here.
I think Rohmer needs to resign from her post and join the cast of Half Pint Brawlers where she would sure be a better fit.
Are you serious? This administration is completely out of touch. Makes stupid decisions and then defends those decisions. Sounds like the Bill Clinton years all over again.
Romer is just protecting her job. She was wrong on her projection/prediction.
Like is mentioned in the slanted article, Romer proposed that the stimulus would save 3 million jobs. Also, the article states that the White House (and Romer) have no way to accurately predict how many jobs are saved... They aren't counting people.
This is just another slice of the Obama economic hoax.
Yeah great our tax dollars saved 3.5 million bureaucrats their jobs while the private sector withers and dies. I thought the whole intent of the Stimu-less was to create commerce to create job opportunities for the private sector. I am befuddled at the ineptness of the hacks in this Administration. I guess if you have no business experience, no drive to be the best, and are more worried about initiating some la la land idea of social just-us this is the result, spend a trillion for ZERO return. It's easy when it isn't coming out of their pocket... When are THEY gonna take a pay cut and lose some benefits??
Republicans can't recognize the truth even if it bites their butt!
