Pelosi dismisses reports of tension with White House

"]Washington (CNN) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday downplayed recent reports of a strained relationship between congressional Democrats and the White House, telling reporters the administration has been "cooperative" in the run-up to this November's midterm elections.

"We had a very positive meeting with the president yesterday," Pelosi told reporters on Capitol Hill. "There is absolutely no reason to think that the White House has been anything but cooperative with us" in efforts to maintain a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives.

"I have nothing but praise" for administration efforts, Pelosi said. There is "no better leader or advocate for America's working families" than President Barack Obama.

Pelosi was reportedly angered when White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press" that "there's no doubt there are enough seats in play that could cause Republicans to gain control" of the House.

  1. Blah blah

    There's no tension. Pelosi and Obama share the same pea brain (unfortunately, Biden was left out).

    It will not be pretty to watch them deal with the fallout from their failed policies. They promised they knew how to fix it all if they could just have a few trillion dollars to throw at it. But they got it and they couldn't.

    PELOSI is one of the most effective Speakers of all time. No wonder the right is always trying to smear her. Americans are unhappy with how things are, but we made our beds over the previous eight years and now we've got to lie in them for awhile no matter what government does or doesn't do. We simply spent a lot more than we had and now we've got to pay down that debt. The DEMS have done a great job of keeping the whole thing from cratering, while spending as little as possible to achieve that.

    Well I'm glad everything is good in the Democratic party between the president and Nancy. But this is one American voter who has had it with our Government's performance over the last fifty years, almost my entire lifetime. I have NOT had the "right to the pursuit of happiness". Everytime I get a little ahead some crisis comes along and I'm back to pulling on my boot straps again.

    FUBAR is all our Government gives the people!

    Where are the choices? Where do the American voters look to for relief from the out of control Congress and the size of the government and the size of the debt? Who do we trust? The Democrats? The GOP? No both of these parties are no longer representing the people. Both of these parties are bought and paid for by the Special interest groups, PACs, Unions, Wall Street, banking, global Corporations are all contributing billions to re-election funds that undermine the people's representation.

    This is one very frustrated voter and I say in this fall elections we need to FIRE! Every member of Congress and 1/3 of the existing Senate. We need to sent a strong message that you work for the people.

    Ms. Pelosi: If you truly want the Democrats to remain in power following the fall 2010 elcetions, there is a smple way to do it.
    1. Puta way petty bickering and infighting within your party;
    2. Clearly explain to the American people why the stimulus bill did not create the number of jobs you hoped for;
    3 Clearly explain the deficit problem and how it got that way, including taking responsibility for your party's actions; and
    4. Set forth a clear and coherent plan to increase jobs.

    That is what America wants and needs. If you cannot get this done, you will be back on the sidelines watching the country being destroyed by the GOP and its big business policies.

    Of course she was upset. She had reason to be. But she's a professional, addressed the situation and moved on. No real story here. She's doing a good job and the Dems will keep the house.

    Stop making stories up out of nothing. Robert Gibbs was warning Democrats not to be complacent. We know we are going to win in November but we should not take it for granted.
    Nancy Pelosi is a strong and successful leader (why the GObPers attack her so much) and she wanted to make the point Democrats need to make sure the American People know the long list of legislation the House and the Senate passed this year that benefits American families and American workers.
    Despite total Republican lies and NO votes on everything, the Democrats have DELIVERED for the People. They deserve to be in Congress for they are the ONLY ones standing on the side of the People.
