(CNN) - With "Charlie Wilson's War" and "The West Wing" among his writing credits, Aaron Sorkin is no stranger to political drama.

Now he'll make his feature directorial debut with a movie about former presidential candidate John Edwards and his affair with mistress Rielle Hunter.

The writer/producer has acquired the rights to Andrew Young's book, "The Politician: An Insider's Account of John Edwards's Pursuit of the Presidency and the Scandal That Brought Him Down," CNN confirmed.

Who, in their right ind would want to watch this idiot portrayed on the big screen? they would have to be totally ignorant. The thought that he could make money from his cowardly actions is beyond me.

Sounds like a great Democratic political sequel to an Inconvenient Truth; full of lies, deception, infidelity, self serving elitism and more! I think I'll await the Vivid Video release of Rielle does DC... Staring John Holmes Edwards and Slick wick Willie...

Great. Why just have politicians trying to make money with a blab-all book for every scandal, when we can have movies. Will we get a movie for former govs. Sanford and Spitzer, too?

Save your time Mr. Sorkin, this "movie" will go straight to the discount video bin. Egotistical politician cheats on wife, has child with mistress. Sound like a Lifetime movie too me. Not worthy of a theatre ticket.

Meh...I can't imagine it'll make it to theaters. Maybe the housewife channel (Lifetime), starring the cast of General Hospital?

Let me save you all some money and a hour or two:

The baby is his! He cheated on his wife, who has cancer, didn't get to the White house! That pretty much sums it up!

Have we no common decency left? I don't care what Edwards and his mistress do. They can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. He has an ex-wife with cancer (what has this stress done to her), and for God's sake he has children. This is disgraceful.

Stop and think. Is there something wrong with our society today?
Prominent married man,who was running for President of the U.S,
cheated on his wife, had sex with this woman, woman had a baby
which he at first denied, then owned up to it He uprooted the lives of his
wife and children, left them and moved in with his sweetie. His current wife filed for divorce. NOW!!!! He is being shown as a hero, celebrity, whatever you want to call it......Not only all of the above, but, he will also
profit monetarily. Is there something wrong with this situation? OR......is
it me. If his behavior is accepted, it certainly makes me feel like a

Why a movie? This guy needs to fade into obscurity as a sorry foot note in the history of the demise of the Liberals in American Politics.

    What a disgrace.
