New ad criticizing Reid to air in Nevada

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/07/16/art.antireidad.0716.americancrossroads.jpg caption ="The conservative organization American Crossroads is out Friday with a new ad criticizing Harry Reid."](CNN) – A new television ad targeting Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is hitting airwaves Friday, arguing that the senior Democrat has done little to reduce his state's sky high unemployment.

Titled "Really Reprise," the 30-second spot comes courtesy of American Crossroads, an independent conservative organization formed earlier this year.

"It's bad enough that Nevada has the highest unemployment in the nation," the ad's narrator says. "And Harry Reid claims to be helping the job situation. Really Harry?"

American Crossroads says it is spending $120,000 on the initial ad buy, and that the spot will air statewide.

It's not the group's first foray into the Nevada race. The group released two ads in June, including one that criticizes Reid for his part in passing last year's federal stimulus plan.

But in a twist, the new ad actually criticizes Reid for failing to secure stimulus funds for Nevada.

"Nevada ranked fiftieth in the money received from Harry's stimulus bill," the narrator says. "That's right; Senate leader Harry Reid has gotten his own state less help than every other state but one."

Reid is locked in a tight battle with Tea Party favorite Sharron Angle for the seat.

A Mason-Dixon poll released Friday shows Reid ahead of Angle, 44 to 37 percent. The poll is the first Mason-Dixon survey in which Reid's lead has been outside the sampling error of plus or minus 4 percent.

UPDATE: In a statement to CNN, the Reid campaign pushed back against the ad's allegations.

"The central criticism of the ad, that Sen. Reid has not done enough to create jobs through the Recovery Act in Nevada's tough economic times, is patently false," the Reid campaign said in a statement.

"Thanks to Sen. Reid's work and Nevada's limitless potential for clean energy technology, we've brought hundreds of millions of Recovery Act dollars to Nevada, and created thousands of jobs."

This is not surprising considering that Sharon has absolutely nothing contructive to offer the great people of Nevada.

But his opponent has said if she was elected to the Senate it would not be her job to create jobs in Nevada; what do this group say about that??? Just wondering

    I hope Reid loses.

His support of lies and criminal conduct while on the Intelligence Oversight Committee is reprehensible.

Granted Harry is up for re-election so of course he's under fire for this, but NV does have another senator and he's republican and what the hell has he done about unemployment.....oh yeah he's too busy dodging ethics issues.
