Democrats hold 'Day of Action' to get out the vote

Democrats are hoping to drum up voter registration Saturday.

Democrats are hoping to drum up voter registration Saturday.

Washington (CNN) - Democratic party officials say activists will be knocking on doors Saturday with the hope of registering scores of voters ahead of November's midterm elections.

Officials at Organizing for America, the grassroots structure of the 2008 Obama for President campaign that was folded into the Democratic National Committee, say their "Day of Action" includes volunteers holding door to door canvasses, setting up voter registration tables, and hosting phone banks to encourage people to commit to vote in November.

"In 2008, voter registration and turnout was key to our victory, with more than 15 million new voters entering the political process," said OFA Deputy Director Jeremy Bird, in a statement. "Now, in 2010, voter registration will be key to ensuring that Democratic candidates are successful and that President Obama has as many congressional allies as possible next year."

While not holding their own such "Day of Action" this Saturday, the Republican National Committee says it's busy as well with get out the vote efforts.

The RNC tells CNN they hold "Super Saturdays," which are similar efforts, but are held on a state by state basis, and that the RNC has over 200 "Victory" staffers throughout the country at this point. The RNC also says that the structure will grow as the calendar moves closer to the midterm elections.

Jim obviously is confused as to which party cheats and lies. The Democrats don't have to present fake ballots in order to win in November. And jim needs to learn how to spell.

Are the Democrats hoping to register enough prisoners so they can steal the election, which is what they did in Minnesota with Al Franken?

So when the Democrats were doing the EXACT same thing to Bush, you were upset then too, right? When they called him a racist for wanting to reform Fannie and Freddie because he felt it could lead to a Financial Meltdown that bothered you, right? When the Democrats attacked him and claimed they were being lied to by Bush after no WMDs were found (even though they all thought Hussein was continuing his WMD program BEFORE Bush was President), that bothered you, right? When Harry Reid called the sitting President of the US a liar or when the Democrats booed him during the State of the Union, you felt really bad for our country, didn't you? Please... save the fake disgust with the way Obama is being treated...

You are aware that the Democrats took the House and the Senate and were the party in control from 1/2007 forward... and the Dems proceeded to do everything they could to undermind Bush (see the above dismissal of Bush's request to reform Fannie and Freddie)

Dave, if you hired 13,000 people to register voters I guarantee a few of them would copy names from the obits or make them up to avoid having to do the work. Even if you caught them at it (which occurred in 2008), you would still be required by law to turn their lists in for verification, at which time they would be thrown out (exactly what happened in 2008). Responding to Republican complaints, a five-year crackdown on voter fraud by the Bush administration's Justice Department produced 70 convictions at the federal level, including 40 campaign workers or government workers convicted of vote-buying, intimidation or ballot forgery, and 23 cases of multiple voting or voting by ineligible voters. But they determined these were unconnected incidents and the Justice Department turned up no evidence of any organized effort to skew federal elections. Over 121,000,000 voted in 2004. 70 votes is .00006 of that total. If the Democrats were trying to perpetrate wide-spread voter fraud they suck at it.

Tea Partiers are in for a big surprise. We may not be as flamboyant and as angry as they are, but we *WILL* be voting in November. According to a CBS News poll, 84% of the Tea Party thinks their views represent most of America, but Americans overall disagree: Just 25 percent say the Tea Party movement reflects their beliefs, while 36 percent say it does not.

Watch Texas go Blue in the Goveners race. Slick Rick Perry will not debate the Dem Bill White. He has propped up a Green Party with money to try to split the votes. Dirty trick Rick. You're going down like 4 flat tires.

I am voting straight Dem ticket. Repubs dont love America, only money.

Democrats don't have to gather in "Federal" parks (aka socialism to the teabaggers) to voice our opinions of the government because we didn't "lose" our government so we don't have to waste our time and gasoline driving all over the country to get it back (except most teabaggers are probably retired and on SS and Medicare = hypocrites). I believe the President IS a US citizen because I have more respect for the men and women of the FBI and Secret Service than I will ever have for someone who wears a teabag hat. I don't think Social Security and Medicare are a bad thing and President Obama is doing (in spite of the hatred and bumps on the road from the rethugs in Congress and now the media) what he promised he would do. I wonder how many of them, after being elected, even try to do half of what he has done.

It is so unfortunate and disingenuous that liberals want to believe that all Repubs are Tea Partiers and ultra conservative. This is just as misguided as Repubs believing that all Dems are left wing extremists and Socialist. There are a lot of conservative Dems and liberal or moderate Repubs plus over one-third of the voters consider themselves Indies. OBAMAO has failed to make the changes he promised to get elected. The extreme left is just as angry with hom as the extreme right. We in the middle are the future. We can make the changes needed by educating ourselves on issues and answers rather than blindly voting based on party as the Dems did solely to say they elected a black president and therefore racism is gone in America which was racist in and of itself. I am an Indie and vote my conscience not by any party ideology. I submit that everyone should do the same if America is to be saved from destruction from within.

    Part 2
Remember both Repubs and Dems want you to buy into their ideology without question. The Tea Party movement is not a political party although the Dems who fear it so much want you to believe they are all right-wing nut cases. The fact is that Tea Partiers are made up of Dems, Repubs, Indies, Liberts, and even Greenies. What they share in common is a desire to see America succeed and prosper rather than flounder and fail. OBAMAO has failed to deliver. We still have two wars, Gitmo is alive and well, we have a new health care program that intrudes on state's rights and individual choice and will ultimately ration healthcare, ridiculous bailouts of huge corporations while leaving John Q Citizen on the hook to pay coming and going, and our individual Constitutional rights are being slowly eroded and corroded. Wake up America YOU ARE being flim-flammed by those in power – make the changes this November to create a balance of power as our Founding Fathers intended.

paul steinhauser is a joke. he is soley in the democratic liberal wing of supposed journalists. Where is the story on the moronic statements by Democratic Rep from texas sheila jackson lee? Was on john king's show for about 30 seconds, was one of the most revealing speeches,oh how clueless a democratic politician is, but CNN cant do a story on that? wow, i wonder why? All these race-bating stories today. How about barack obama, sitting in his church, with rev.wright spewing racist, vile, and anti-american comments, for years. Doesnt he have to call out the reverand. No moral equiviilancy? CNN is playing the race card, all weekend, and should be embarrased. Wolf Blitzer covered this for about 1 minute, and saw how much this was only politics, and said, lets move on, unfortunately, many at CNN, are so political, that they feign racial indignation,to promote, there one-sided agendas. Very disappointing and very low character. By the way, mark lamont-hill, is the dem liberal commentator, who appear on o'reilly as balance journalism,he appeared, this morning, with an over-the-top 100% race-baiter,as the supposed balance to the story. Please, CNN, its almost comical. You wonder why, people dont flw your shows. Candy Crowley,is about the only honest, and fair journalist, you have left. Stop the race-bating,enough already.

President Bush decided to not prosecute three people that were involved in voter intimidation. Did the incoming(present) Administration have something to do with that? Are those same Panther people involved with this voter registration deal? I certainly hope not! Anyways, if any of those names that are found to be fraudulent; then I want the House to instigate impeechment of the entire Obama Administration!!!
