FEC fines Biden more than $200k for violations

"Some repayment is commonplace after presidential campaign audits and the repayment ordered here is relatively small,” said Biden spokeswoman Elizabeth Alexander. “Payment is due to the Treasury 30 days after the FEC issues its formal ruling and 'Biden for President' will comply with that."
In a report released Friday, the FEC said a mandatory audit showed the campaign had accepted contributions above the legal limit, failed to adequately pay for rides on a private jet, and issued several checks that had never been cashed.
I didn't know the Fed had it in them to be nonpartisan, it's a good day for all.
No political party should be exempt from fines incurred for violations. Bravo to the FEC.

A fine is a punishment after a conviction.
A repayment is a corrective action after an audit.

I think this is pretty normal for campaign funds to be fined. We have built in so many law and checks and balances that candidates' campaign committees will make mistakes. May we find a meaningful topic to discuss. CNN is having a hard time finding the news and writing headlines that make the story appear to be bigger than it is.

so let me get this right. every person, or at least most, who's run a presidential campaign are as sloppy with their bookkeeping and have broken the campaign rules. that's a great thing to know.
what is interesting to me is if anyone applying for a job were found to have broken the application rules, they are subject to possible loss of their current job. why isn't this the case with politicians?
