Maine residents abuzz with first family visit
Bar Harbor, Maine (CNN) – President Obama has spent his weekend vacation taking in Maine’s famous coastline, enjoying downtime at a local pool, and eating ice cream.
During their first day, the Obama’s took in some of the state’s attractions - including a hike through Acadia National Park, and a boat ride in the harbor. The first family also capped off the day with a stop for ice cream.
On Saturday, the president and Mrs. Obama took their daughters on a lighthouse tour overlooking Bass Harbor after a morning filled with working out and enjoying a pool.
Though critics argue that Obama should be spending his vacation in the Gulf Coast rather than the Gulf of Maine, local residents have seemed happy to host the first family.
All over the downtown Bar Harbor, locals and tourists can be overheard asking each other if they've had a first family sighting. Shop keepers have signs in their front windows welcoming the president, and one ice cream shop has created a flavor in honor of Obama - the Commander in Chief Chip, a red, white, and blue ice cream with chocolate chips mixed throughout.

Hope everyone whining about where POTUS spends his weekend will practice what they preach. Head you and yours down to the Gulf on your vacation. Maine is closer to Washington; a POTUS anywhere near a crisis only makes it worse with security; and POTUS is a distraction away from the neccessary recovery that is now needed.
Why would the President take his family down to the Gulf? So they inhale all the toxic dispersent and oil fumes? So the "critics" can say all he went there for was for a photo op? It doesn't matter what President Obama says, what he does, or where he goes, his "critics" will say something negative anyway.
Disgraceful! 3 vacations in 3 months and this country in trouble! Can any of u out there afford a vacation. Let alone 3? Well, what did I expect out of a foreigner who this country pays $400,000 to turn a proud and free democracy into a socialist quagmire of lies, theft, corruption and deceit? God help our Nation to survive this "Obam-ination"! And the fact I have always been against this man setting foot in the whitehouse is no consolation. Thanks a lot to u who voted for him! Is this the change u were looking for?
