Senators request meeting with British PM over Lockerbie case
Washington (CNN) - Four U.S. senators have requested a formal meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron during his visit to the United States this week to discuss the 2009 release of a man convicted of playing a role in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.
The 1988 bombing killed 270 people, most of them Americans.
The Scottish government released Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi on compassionate grounds last August after doctors said he had terminal prostate cancer and just three months to live. But al-Megrahi is still alive, and news reports in recent days have questioned whether he was as sick as depicted. Questions also have been raised about whether a deal was cut to release him to protect British business interests in Libya.

The Republicans need to be very worried about this. Not to long ago they were apologizing to BP yet here we have more information that BP may have set a terrorist free so that it can drill for oil. This is beyond disturbing.
Wait a minute, is it coincidential that BP was involved with the release of al-Megrahi and we end up with an oil spill in Louisiana that hurts very badly???? Seriously, this is scary that BP would be involved in his release, why and for what gain????? I hope our Senators stay on top it and get an investigation going.
Oh please! This is much deeper than any of us will ever know about. How about this: The U.S. and U.K. have actually turned this guy to be a spy for us and made a big media up-t-do about sending him home. Now after learning that he is sent back and is expected to live much longer than thought, we act all outraged. Which further solidifies his status within the groups that we which him to gather intel.
He is now spying for us. The "outrage" is just part of the cover.
Excuse me for asking but what business is it of these 4 Senators to demand investigations now over the Scottish decision when they didn't when it was first announced ages ago?
Other than what seems to be another ulterior motive to somehow try and destroy BP for the oil spill, it seems coincidental that now this comes up only after rumors of BP involvement were stated. Are the democrats trying to ensure the downfall of BP thus foisting the full expenses on the American taxpayer eventually because they seem to be out for revenge? BP must be held accountable for the spill but it was the Scottish Govt. solely responsible for the release of the Lockerbie bomber.
GI Joe – It's not about controlling the world dude, just about the POSSIBILITY that the release of a CONVICTED TERRORIST that hepled/plotted to kill 270 INNOCENT people who just (mostly) wanted to fly back home (they were AMERICANS in the most part) was MOTIVATED by the oil contracts of a OIL FIRM whose GREED just caused that oil spill in the Gulf.

to ATL Guy: pls.explain how BP releasing al-Megrahi opened the door for them to drill??? I'm not following this puzzle well. It scares me to think that we ended up with an oil spill that hurt us badly from a company that was involved with a terrorist and suddendly now BP was able to cap the oil well which makes me wonder why they didn't use this cap sooner?????? this is scary stuff. I don't think Menendez & Gillibrand will get to the bottom of this, not if a terrorist is involved with BP.
Why don't the senators ask the Scottish government about the release, their politicians signed off on it, not the Brits. The Brits have been saying they did not have a hand in the release for over a year,,,,,is the Brit government lying. And the Scottish government has said that no concession for oil deals were made in the release, only that the release was for compassionate considerations,,,,is the Scottish government lying.
Where were all these CONCERNED senators during the last year and a half when these negotiations were going on?
Now they want to diss the UK's new PM?

Remember that Obama took tons of money from BP while he was a Senator from Illonois and received a lot of their money in his campaign for the presidency.I wonder if these Senators would cover up for Obama if somehow they found out he was involved. hum?

BP MAY have... You have proof they did? I don't have any proof they didn't! I guess its a tie! Why does the GOP have to fear this? Why not the Dems? Why not all of us? What is disturbing about this is the ease in which folks criticize or support with ZERO credible info!
