Jobless benefits extension passes Senate test

New York (CNNMoney.com) - More than 2.5 million unemployed Americans are one step closer to having their unemployment benefits restored.

A bill that would push back the deadline to file for extended unemployment benefits until the end of November passed a key procedural hurdle in the Senate Tuesday. The vote was 60-40, the minimum margin needed to end debate on the measure.

The Senate could put its final stamp of approval on the bill as early as Tuesday afternoon, after which it would go back to the House. It is expected to pass both chambers and be sent to President Obama for his signature. Final passage in the Senate requires just 51 votes.

Repubs don't care about deficit when it comes to money for War, invating other countries and tax cut for rich. On one hand they are crying for deficit but want to extend the bush tax cuts for the Rich. Come on now, if you are making over 200K as a single or 250K/ year as a couple, why in the world you need more tax cut? Oh No, we can borrow all we want as long as it is for Tax cuts for the rich and non sense war. Some one once said, REPUBLICANS ARE PRO LIFE SO THAT THEY CAN SEND MORE SOILDERS TO WAR TO DIE. What a hippocrate!! I am not overwhealming happy with Obama, but atleast he is trying his best, and probably could have done much better if not for stupids Retards!!

CNN, please list the names of each Senator and how they voted on this. That is your news story. Let it speak for itself, without opinion, and let the people decide who is trying to get this country back on track.

  4. Welfare and Unemployment

Keep giving out handouts,,,, thats the answer.

Where I work, we have people come in and work for thier welfare checks. I think it is a great program. BUT,,, they come work for 25 hours a week. Then they tell me how every dollar of thier medical bills are paid, they eat STEAK from food stamps. They get a free cell phone to use, they get a taxi ride paid, or gas money. All of thier kids get free health care.
All, for 25 hours a week or less.

I work 40 hours a week at a decent wage and I have insurance deductables, eat hamburger, pay for a phone and gas eats up 50 bucks in a hurry.

What is wrong with that picture? You liberals proabably will say nothing, they deserve what they get.

Now, people come into our place to ask for a job. We tell them, all we have is part time right now, for 12 bucks an hour. They walk away and say,,, I cant work for that. I get more for my unemployment
We had one person actually laugh at us when we told hom, 30 hours a week at 12 bucks an hour. He laughed and said, why should I work for that? I can sit at home and pay my bills.
