Facebook apologizes for deletion of Palin post

Washington (CNN) – Social networking site Facebook issued a bit of a mea culpa Thursday after a post by former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was deleted from the massive site.
In a statement given to CNN, Facebook said a "note" by Palin about her opposition to building a mosque near New York City's Ground Zero had been deleted by an automated system.
"The note in question did not violate our content standards but was removed by an automated system," Facebook spokesman Andrew Noyes said in the statement. "We're always working to improve our processes and we apologize for any inconvenience this caused."
After the original post was deleted, Palin re-posted the note Thursday morning.

Hey JoePub – ever heard of fighting fire with fire? Try it out sometime. Palin is more devisive than any other political figure in our country. she is worthless and takes up news time that should otherwise go to educating our nation, not making it more ignorant!

Personally, I think having a Mosque is exactly what the country needs to become tolerant. I realize that the United States is fully of hypocrisy. We were founded to have separation of Church and State yet the basis of our Constitution is largely based on Religious teachings – though ethics and morals are closely related.
The sad part of all this is the wise spread ignorance that all Muslims are terrorists. Seriously, if this was not the case why would anyone care if a Mosque was built? It doesn't even come close to the statement that the Scottish made by releasing a murdering terrorist to Libya recently!!
So get over yourselves and accept people of all races and religions. Ever think that by opening our arms to the Muslims we could send a message of peace??
KBeat, you are just another person who can't properly understand the concept of freedom of speech. The GOVERNMENT can't censor speech, a private company like Facebook can censor whatever they want on their own website. It's not what they were doing in this case, but if they wanted to delete all of Palin's post they certainly could.
This is just like the people who claim their freedom of speech is being violated when they say something stupid and other people challenge them on it. Ignorant.

Think about this...
She posts something against the Mosque and uses questionably derogatory language (not downright offensive), someone offended flags it as offensive, that gets Facebook to remove it. She gets press time (again) for free and the press eat it up because some people in this world just tend to gather the press like flies on ... (Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton). The questions is whether someone on the opposition saw this as offensive and flagged it, or whether she had some one flag it as a setup to this chance at more free lime-light.

As a native NYer who lived through 9/11, I would like to take this opportunity to tell all of you who are not from this region to shut the hell up. Go find some other photo opportunity to warp for your agendas.
I'm a very old lady, and I pray to live long enough to see the day when this waif from Alaska has finally worn out her welcome and gone home. She's winked, smiled and joked herself into the male spotlight until she has them all convinced she could even be president. She could'nt, but they don't care,just 'cause they find her arresting. Actually,she doesn't have staying power.,everything she says is written for her,she's money crazy,and has NO intellectual curiosity, which is why she doesn't know much more now than she did the first time we saw her.Yeah, I know guys, but she looks so great!
